  1. haha the 3076 will be in the gtr on simons old rb30 donk i bought from him, got it freshened up and its gonna be fun with a nice light chassis. With the good motor i aint aiming for 500hp like u said u were im aiming for alot more so i need something bigger, hence the t04z
  2. Do that to yours Nick and save the hassle of redoing everything again. The housing is worth stuff all anyway if u wanna sell the turbo later on. Doesnt look dodgy at all either. Quickest, cheapest and easiest fix by far for the problem.
  3. i think a 3076r with a 1 housing would be pretty awesome suited as simon suggested. With correct setup in a lightweight r31 it would be nuts, mine seems to be abit better now with new exhuast and in a lighter car i could see it be pretty damn good (ill find out soon enough). Ill have to take you for a spin and show you how it goes and response and then u can decide for yourself and mine isnt even sorted properly. Surely a 450hp setup with awesome response would beat a 500hp setup with a fair bit more lag on a track.
  4. thanks dazmo i plan on running the pump in the air con spot because the air con is long gone (track car). PM sent to you as well.
  5. thanks Paul but i'd prefer to make it here rather than buy one, i wanted pics of designs but i know they dont come easily on things like this, so ill have to speak to some experts i know and suss it myself. I assume they are around the 2K mark going by the others ive seen? Im also going to be using a 5 stage pump so 3 pickups is needed. Any chance of a PM with the price if you dont mind and dont want to mention it in the thread? cheers
  6. im keen on pics too as ive been researching this topic for a fair while now as im building a dry sump for mine. im interested in sump designs using the 4wd sump setup too Get in and buy parts from the US while the dollar is strong, it will save alot of cash overall. Anyone got any good online stores to buy Peterson gear from in the US? So far ive found this shop... http://www.pitstopusa.com/Categories.aspx?ID=3375
  7. Hey thanks guilt toy i have a feeling its the problem due to the lack of top end power and theres a midrange dip in the curve too which is strange, not to mention the lack of power. Paul what are you using to get an accurate reading off the bucket to do cam timing? i am struggling to get anything on the bucket without hitting the lobe as i spin the cam around which is throwing the readings off. If i could find something to do this accurately then im sure i could get the cam timing spot on but until then i dont trust the readings i am getting. As someone said to me its impossible for one cam to be different to the other due to the timing belt joining them together, only both cams can be out the same measurement. Guilt toy if you put your cam gears on zero then isnt that just the same as using stock gears? Or do u mean so that all the timing marks line up spot on?
  8. plenty of others are making over 400rwhp with this turbo and 3L setup. They also saying it pulls hard to redline, which mine doesnt. I personally think its way too small but thats because im used to t04z lag on a 2.7l and the hit that comes with it, this 3076r doesnt do it for me at all in its current state of tune. I have a hks t04z lying around paul thats going on the other 26/30 in building as abit of fun, see how long it last for with stock internals, should be a great match for it. Then this 3076r will end up on that motor and ill be probably going low mount twins for this stagea engine, lookin at 2860 -10s as a possible option. I have a feeling i did the cam timing measurements wrong and think its about time i double checked everything as its the only thing i can think of that could be restricting it.
  9. is that a dr30? i think its in the 8s from memory, no rb motor but
  10. thanks mate, there is a test and tune next wednesday too, any chance of going to it or abit too much hassle on a weekday?
  11. hey guys i have a built 26/30 with stock gtr cams, and the tensioner setup as per the pdf and an idler as well. Im interested to know how far out people have found the cam timing from the reccomended specs? Mine is very very down on power and we did a check with the degree wheel and it was from memory spot on for the exhuast side and 4 degrees advanced on the inlet (might of been the other way round, it was a while ago). I cant seem to find the missing power and its dying at around 5000rpm and not making anymore power. This is a 3076r 0.82 and ive changed the muffler thinking it was that and its on 19psi and makes that boost at 2900rpm but only managed 316rwhp before i swapped mufflers and now it seems a slight bit better but definately not in the 400hp range by a long shot. Im thinkin try some cam gears and have a play with cam timing and see what happens but if its gonna do stuff all i dont really want to outlay for them when i cam buy something else. The exhuast is 3' all the way to just before the diff and then 2 x 3.5' race series magnaflow mufflers, manifold is a steam pipe job which seems perfect for flow and i do experience some boost creep so it must flow alright. Other mentioned mods are a trust drag intercooler, 3' cooler piping, 50mm hks gate, autronic smc, stock coils, no porting and stock cams. Motor is fresh rebuilt with stock pistons and leakdown and comp tests are spot on too. Im pretty tame on the ignition timing but dont want to push it with cast pistons for the sake of a few hp. We chucked a couple of degrees in it and it didnt make alot of difference and would up another couple of psi and same deal. i had a similiar thread a fair while ago with a dyno sheet of the old tired motor and blamed the 300 000km engine but its all fresh and new now so im stuck for ideas and ready to sell the turbo and buy something bigger in the hope it will fix it.
  12. hey Dave so what was the results from the sunday test and tune, i seen it run and was wondering the plans for the next event? I came up to say hello a couple of times and check out the car but you were busy talking to others. I heard the bit about forgetting to use the nos on the first run and i assume you forgot to put it in 4wd for the last run? smoked up well though It seems to take a long time to spool up on the transbrake too, is there an issue or is it just the size of the turbo? Who did the fibreglass doors and what are they worth? cheers mate, im keen to see it at the next event.
  13. Hi Chris sorry for the late reply, i found the PM yesterday and was late at night so havent had a chance to reply, but sounds like Neil has the right idea, he does it an easier way than i did it, i havent tried his way but im sure it will work as he has done it a few times like me Oh and getting the steering arm tie rod off will be a pain, ive found a hammer messes up the nut and it still doesnt budge most times. Best bet is a small 2 prong pulley from the local supercheap or something and it will make it an easy job, i dont think the pulleys are much at all either.
  14. hey guys, have a set of 33 or 34 (not sure) calipers that are missing the item highlighted in red below. i have all the pins and split pins but just not that retainer. believe u can buy em through nissan for $120 (trade) or somethign for the whole lot but since i just need the retainers, is their any other options avaialbale cheers
  15. nice work, are you guys bringing it down to the test and tune next sunday coming?
  16. thanks marko i used to run a t04z on a 2.7l in this same car and it wasnt too bad really, went hard as hell from 4k onwards but had a revlimit of 8500rpm so a decent powerband. The 30 is limited to 7k so as long as its going alright around 3700rpm or so onwards i'd be pretty happy. This 3076 is making 18psi at 2900rpm which is alright but dies in the arse at 5000rpm onwards and is too noisy at low rpm whistling and making jet like noises which i personally dont want. Im sure people cant say a turbo is too responsive but i think it is. What sort of power figures are the -10s making around the 18-20psi mark on most setups? I realise headwork and cams play a big part but im just wondering whether expecting to get anywhere near 500hp at wheels on a reasonable boost limit is asking a bit much. I would love to go single (t04z most likely) but cop issues around here have gone to another level with new emission testing etc i dont want the hassle and its all engineered for twins anyway so then it stays all legal to the regular eye
  17. lol i gain an extra 200kg (stagea) over a gtr but my bonnet shuts without an issue with covers on and twin turbo pipe on I'd still rather lose 200kg and need less power lol. I have been thinking about running twin gtrs turbos now instead of -5s, i think they are -10s from memory? I remember someone on here runs them on a 30 setup and wondering what the drivability is like? i want around 500hp at wheels mark on 18-20psi. Im running a freshened bottom end but still stock rods and duratech cast pistons, so still around the 8:1 comp ratio. I dont care if the thing blows to bits i wanna see how long it will last My head is stock 26 with no port work and stock cams at the moment which wont help either, but bolt in cams are always a future option.
  18. Purpleskyline: the problem is thats its a series 1 block, meaning no flat spot for the idler. The lump part is how far out the idler should sit so dont grind it off, you need to make the rest of the area the same height out from the block or the pulley wont be in line with the tensioner, etc. i welded mine up on my first block but saved hassled and used a s2 block on the second motor. Im sure some sort of packer/plate could be made to let it sit on it flat Bubba: i have the t04z and thats going on the drift motor for the gtr now (another 26/30) and swapping onto the jun 2.7l when i run that in the gtr. Should be interesting i may also throw this gt30 on the 26/30 as well because 400hp in a stripped out rwd 32 will be alot more fun and great response. the question is to go -5s or not, i want the standard look really so single is abit of a turn off considering its supposed to be daily driver material. I have custom 3' dumps already made to suit for the twins so its a full bolt on affair. I got too many cars and options for all of them its a struggle to decide when to do what lol
  19. hows the response Matt? i run a single gt3076r and its just too small draggin my big lump of a car around (1730kg worth), the response is awesome but i want more power ! I have been meaning to catch up and see your 30 setup for a few years now, and now ive built one i wouldnt mind seeing the turbo performance using the -5s on a 30.
  20. is infact on the back of a toyota. was a brake upgrade that is being put on hold for the time being to direct funds elsewhere
  21. r33 gtr rear brembo brake calipers (NO rotors), good condition... not 100% sure if they are off a 33 or 34 but pretty sure they are identical eitherway. come with the pins and shims however not the spring retainer clip thing. $700 http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/6116/p4291558.jpg
  22. sorry for the double post but i double checked today on the road and the motor is making 16psi by 2900-3000rpm (current boost setting), though it does creep abit after that but thats a wastegate issue i have to sort out.
  23. hey matt, if your interested in comparing 3l torque with a gt3076r (not far off your turbo size really) i can take you for a drive, its also in a 1700kg car (stagea) so same weight too. Its only making around 320hp at moment but the torque difference from the rb26 i had before is crazy, the thing drives around effortless under 2000rpm unlike the 26. I Checked today and its making 16psi (current boost setting) at 2900 - 3000rpm on the road in 3rd or 4th gear. Ive spoke to you a few times in the past i had the jun 2.7l in my car previously and tuned by Mick also if you happen to remember. if your keen send me a pm
  24. i found a large lip in the bores of mine so bored it to 86.5mm and threw in some Endurotech cast pistons which are supposed to be abit stronger than stockies and allow for a good piston to bore clearance rather than honing worn bores. The pistons were only $320 with rings so about $200 for the actual pistons (as rings are around $120 anyway) which is bugger all and mine are running 18psi no dramas at moment and i will building another engine the same as this for my track car and throw my hks t04z on it and see how long it will last for abit of cheap fun
