instead of tucking it away would it be possible to remove the hose at the other end or would it no longer work correctly?

hi guys, just wondering if someone can help me identify what a hose does and what i can do with it when i put in a pod filter. the hose i am talking about is connected to the right hand side of the filter box and apparently connects to some kind of sensor according to one of the guys at autobarn who had a quick look for me. i will try to get some pictures to help tomorrow or next monday.
