400hp Dr30 Fj20det Powered
IronmaskDR replied to Factory 5's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Mate Ghostrider has a legit point, I had 355atw in my DR and it was an absolute monster to drive on boost, lotsa fun yes but not a lot of traction unless u eased it on, with 600+ forget it, too light and RWD only. -
$400 for an R200 LSD longnose from a DR30 is a bargain mate, and I'm pretty sure the 31 IRS is the shortnose anyway. From memory the longnose R200 into your car passingewe should be a straight bolt in including axles.

Ummm Z18 is a single cam head, and the conversion is Z18 head on an L20b block to make an Z20ET using the stronger L series bottom end over the shitty Z20/24. And yes there was a KA24DE head conversion done by a dood over on Ozdat which was also turbo'd, BUT, it took him a lot of time and farking around and really didn't produce any significant numbers performance wise. Oh and I've seen video of that OS L4 head in action and all I can say is OMFG 8)

You werent the only one with stock boost at the EVO day Chris, plus I had my shitty compliance tyres as well , mind u I only managed 20th but it was my first track event of any kind so I loved it. I seem to be going in the other direction to u it would seem, I've had my share of more savage/harsher (The DR, an FJ powered 1600 etc etc) cars and wanted something a bit more refined which would perform well straight out of the box, which I have got with my VII. I guess it's all what u want out of a car I suppose and it's intended purpose, while my DR is a ton of tail happy fun to drive it just wasn't practical as a regular driver with it's HD clutch and GT35/40-screamer etc. Whatever u decide to do I hope u continue to do some spirited driving as u have some real skills as opposed to the "cheque book" racers that where quite apparent at the EVO day. Cheers, Vaughan.

Bumpski, now on carsales.com as well, willing to think about reasonable offers as well. . Might even throw in the spare motor if the right buyer comes along.
-
Still for sale. Pricing the same.
-
Bumpski, price drop too, $14,000 obo.

Paying 8 for a mint cond stocker is one thing but you won't get one for 8 in mint cond with extensive mods thats for sure dude. Plus that was 4.5 years ago and they are deffinately getting harder to find, especially over here in WA.

Dr Bits, Lights Etc....
IronmaskDR replied to IronmaskDR's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
pic of dash, has no boost gauge but has volts instead, standard boost gauge is good for faaark all anyway as it's in kg-cm3 instead of psi or bar. There is 118xxxk's on the odometer. -

Hey Dan/Waz, postage on the struts would have to wait untill I get home because they are in a big f-off tool box which is locked and I have the key here at work, plus I have to work out freight cost etc etc.And yeh the rotor set up is the same as the Datto bolted from behind style. Cheers, Vaughan. -

IronmaskDR replied to passin ewe's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
I gather they are Datto IRS set up in the rear? If so R31 rear disc and calipers are a good upgrade over the drums, you just need an adaptor plate for the caliper which u can get from Datsport/Maddat etc. As for fronts not sure how much better u want. I have a set of DR30 RSX struts and brakes for sale but dunno if they will fit your model or not. Looking at $200 if u want em -
The car won't be a daily driver as I only spend 1 week out of 3 at home, as far as the Targa is concerned I am definately interested and rather than go all out (cage etc) I can run in the Challenge comp and just have a bit of fun instead of going all out on a bituman killer.
-
LOL yeh maybe FIFO but still have a mortgage, Mrs etc etc, hardly get to drive the DR so even less chance with 2 cars. Sad to say I can't justify having a car in the shed just cos I like it (the DR) I need something a bit more practicle that the Mrs can drive at a pinch, where with the DR she won't even be a passenger
-
Car is now for sale, is just getting a bit of work done to it at the moment but should be ready to go in a cupla weeks, looks like a blown head gasket . And yeh the 6.5 seems to be the go but the styling is looking a bit dated now, looking at a VII or VIII depending on cost, kays and condition. Won't be driven much as I'm on a 2and1 FIFO roster.
