Yeh nah not that keen on Supra's, great engine but not that keen on the styling. GTR's I dunno if thats what I want, 4 doors is great in the Lancer, outstanding brakes from the factory and from what I have read/heard they respond very well to minor mods (zorst, pod, bit of boost) I'm not really looking for outright insane grunt, I have that with the DR and it's like a car with ADD which is very hard to actually use on a regular basis. The only GTR I would get is a 32, that's just a personal preference, but finding an unmolested one with low k's and that hasn't been hammered with a decent price tag on top is getting rather difficult, whereas I can pick up an EVO VII with 7000 k's for around the 35 grand mark. Bang for buck is what I'm after, and I think with an EVO I'll get it. Just gotta convince the better half yet
-
Nuthing definate at this stage guys, probably once the new clutch and the nutso FJ go back back in and I go for a drive all thoughts of EVO might go out the window who knows, like I said it all depends on if there's any interest in the DR. At the end of the day I want to compete in the Targa West next year and while the DR is a very capable car it's not an EVO and I can't swing it with the missus to let me spend that much on the DR lol.
-
Thanx for the help people, very insightful, especially DRIFTT. If I do decide to go down the Evo Lancer route I' ll be selling the DR as I can't have both sadly (the Missus would kill me dead), so it will depend on if I get what I want for the Nissan as to if I buy the Evo, and yeh I prefer the shape of the VII over the VI but you get the lighter better performing car with the VI......decision decisions

Ok went down to Evolution imports today and test drove an EVO VII, gotta say I was fairly impressed, especially as it was bog stock as well. What I want to know is if anyone on here has or does own one and what I can expect from the car. It's not goin to be a daily as I work FIFO and mods are going to be minimal (zorst, pod, boost). Are there any issue's I should look out for as well?? I know it's not an Evo forum and all but most on here seem to be motorsport enthusiasts above all. Cheers, Vaughan.

OK, went for a drive in an Evo VII today and I think I'm in love so I'm thinking of selling the DR, car has FJ20et with forgies, tomei cams/cam gears, oringed, GT30/35 turbs, 550 injectors, S14 4 pots and coilies up front, S13 struts and DR discs down the back, brand new Exedy HD button clutch, FJ turbo 5 spd, R200 LSD, 69xxx kays and is in excellent condition, looking for offers over $16,000,can email pics if required, cheers, Vaughan.

Can't really tell what it is from the pic, allmost looks like a nissan factory boost controller or something.....anyhoo best bet is to see where the 3 lines go and decide from there if they are a requirement. What car is it in dude? -
vdr030 dude you sound like your still AT school, grow the f**k up or piss off mate. People are just trying to give the correct and best advice they can and you carry on like your Corey or something. DICK.

400hp Dr30 Fj20det Powered
IronmaskDR replied to Factory 5's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
hee hee, yeh when I first drove my DR with 330hpatw on tap it certainly made the old freckle pukker up a bit and yeh I have 225 rubber on the rear as well and even in 3rd they light up pretty easy. Haven't been up to it's tuned 19psi/355atw yet, would be fairly interesting I would imagine. As far as corners are concerned I have found that on boost sideways is the best way around -

If you do decide to get rid of the front bar Ross let me know as I might be interested in it for my DR, plus I have a spare standard front bar as well if you are looking for one. Cheers, Vaughan. -

Dude this car is in Perth now I gotta come have a look see for myself. What are your plans for it?? road regoed? motorsports? Good to see another DR in Perth, especially one of this calibre. I like the black bottom half pic too. -
This reminds me of an incident a mate of mine had coming back from Freo one night, now he has a pretty distinct Kermit green FJ turbo 1600 and him and his GF are coming back from dinner and drinks in Freo at about 11Pm when somebody in a dark coloured Falcodore sedan comes up behind him flashing his lights etc and being as this was a few years ago (early 90's) he slows down pulls over and steps out of the car, upon doing this he looks at the sedan and see's two rather large dude's getting out with one of them carrying a big f**k off knife in his hand. Needless to say Dave got back in his 1600 and got the fark outta dodge, luckily the 1600 was one very well sorted little unit and getting away from an early 90's Folden was no real task but he was pretty shaken up for a few days after. There's some real crazy units floating around thats for sure, even back then.

Don't know for sure if they fit RB20's or not but if they do u might be better off with 13bt 550's instead. Bit more expensive but more room for improvement. I have 4 standard FJ squirters u can buy if u do decide to go down that route anyway. Only part number I could find on them were 2744 3917A. Cheers, Vaughan

LOL yeh I noticed it too, the old Pinna'a not a bad rig, GXE 5 spd with A/C. I luv R31 front seats too, the most comfy car seats i have ever sat in
-
Yeh thanx MrMayhem, from what I've learned it's basically a case of slotting top 2 bellhousing bolts and a new g/box x-member and tailshaft right. I need the S1 cos it has a mechanical speedo output whereas the S2 is electronic.
-
Yeh tried that path, rang a bloke called Jamie, he said that most guys won't do front cuts, to light so not enuff coin in it for them. Might havta give my local tip a call and see if I can dispose of it there.
-
Anyone know how to get an empty front cut removed from the front yard or how i can dispose of it.
-
Ok does anyone know how to differenciate between the RB gearboxes. EG RB20, RB25 R33 S1/S2 etc. Want to do conversion to R33 S1 turbo 5 speed in my DR and need to know what I'm looking for. Also is there any differences between turbo and non turbo R33 5 speeds?? Thanx, Vaughan.
-
I hear ya Glenn, I got the 2 front 1/4 and bonnet badges for my DR, cost me about $140 all up. But I did find their gasket kit $50 cheaper than SWM.
-
Just get em from ya Nissan dealer dude, with the strenght of the Aussie dollar the prices for import stuff is pretty good ATM, I got a whole gasket kit about a month ago for 200 bux. Plus u can just duck down and get em, even if they have none in stock as long as a dealer in Aus has em u can generally get em the next day.
