  1. Where did you get then R31Nismoid? I was quoted about $240ea from Nissan and they had to order them from Japan. Carlos
  2. Yep, there let down by not enough plates and not enough preload.
  3. Sounds like your LSD is worn, you can rebuild it. The HR31 LSD is a 2-way, i rebuilt my LSD, found a couple of broken plates replaced them and was able to add a few more after removing some spacers, now it works awsome. Carlos
  4. I use the tacho as i'm usually only in fifth at that speed.
  5. Its a dropping resistor to drop the voltage to the fuel pump at idle to make quieter. I left it out when i fitted the R32 RB20DET to my R31 and i have had no problems or noise.
  6. Try chemi-weld, normally used for temporay repair of blown head gaskets and cracked heads. I have heard good results of it working permantly as well, one was from a tech teacher who stripped down a truck engine do replace a blown head gasket, found a crack bolted it back together and put chemi-weld in a while later they removed the head and sent it away to get the crack fixed only the crack was gone.
  7. PVA that photo is of a Bluebird Attessa SR20 engine and gearbox isn't?
  8. Cool, anyone got a pic of the front brakes? Better still has anyone got some for sale? Carlos
  9. It's interesting that the bearings are good as the detanation also pounds the upper conrod bearing.
  10. And i thought my feul consumption was bad at 10.5-11.0L/100km. On the last trip i done (which included a caning at the destination) i got 588km's from 54L. All this in a R31 GTS-X with a R32 RB20DET and ECU, 3" exhaust and a custom front mount. Also aren't the R31's heavier? Having owned a few V8's before i can't belive the economy when giving the car a thrashing as on a V8 the feul guage moves with the tacho.
  11. Are the NA R33 front calipers 2 piston or single piston?
  12. It wasn't a number plate, but a mate used to race superbikes, his girl got bored and put the pitboard up with WET 4 U.
  13. PIGB8T on a black RX-3 with a bridgeport in it about 8 years ago.
  14. I rebuilt my LSD, two of the plates had stripped tangs. I replaced these plates and fitted four extra plates by removing the spacers. Best diff i've ever had, only chirps under medium acceleration in first coming out of driveways. The car is heaps better to drive, it accelerates hard out of corners, whereas before it used to fry the inside tyre. Awsum for donuts as well. Carlos
  15. The studs are the same as the RB30, the gasket is different. I prefer to use the mild steel studs as they are a lot easier to remove when they break.
  16. TonyGTST, Mazda Australia doesn't support imports at all and the listings we have are for Australian and sometimes UK models only so we don't know what the Jap models have. Nissan, Toyota and i think Mitsubishi support grey imports.
  17. MXFLY, what kit/bower did you use?
  18. The big problem with the parts is that we only have the listings for Australian models (which sometimes have UK listings as well) and needing a VIN no which we can't decode the Jap VIN no's. The early Australian deliveried MX-5's are getting quite cheap now (around $10,000) and since the price drop on the current model they're all dropped in price used.
  19. Yes they are RWD, up to 2000 5 speed only then 6 speed(we did get a 10th anniversary edition in 99 and i think it was an option from 98 os) The early models were 1.6l but ours were non-power steer so they actually feel quicker than the 1.8l as they had pwr str. They are all factory NA but there was a limited run of about 50 that Mazda Australia turbocharged, but the new model due out late this early next will have a turbo option. There doesn't seem to be much difference from what i've seen (i work at a Mazda Delearship) between ours and the imports but Mazda Australia doesn't support imports so you can be stuffed if you need something thats different. Carlos
  20. Be carefull as some of the RX-7 oil coolers have thermostat inside which blocks/reduces oil flow when cold as on the rotarys the oil to the cooler is by-pass oil not full flow like you will be fitting it.
  21. I don't know about the rest but it could be related, the noise sounds like an exhaust leak and as you mentioned it was sluggish its probably before the tubo, either the turbo gasket, exhaust manifold gasket and/or broken studs allowing the gasket to leak. Carlos
  22. Pencil me in guys, hopefully i won't be working. Carlos
  23. Merli, tell me about, drag racing at the creek is like pushing shit uphill. I'm running if it doesn't get rained out. Carlos
  24. Great cruise guys, sorry i cut it short(turned around at wisemans) as i had to work the next day. Hopefully i be able to do the full cruise next time. Carlos
  25. MMMM, beers for helping to pull an engine down, sounds tempting.
