wow. thats some hot air. so what do you have to do? shield the pod from the engine bay, with plastic or something? heat wrap? or redirect it somehow so its drawing cooler air? i have been told they charge hourly rate to do ecu's, which should equate to maybe $3-400 at worst. i dont see how it could cost more than that! it would be a waste of time if it did.
-
wha? the pod doesnt have a box or anything, though if you think its wasting that much power i might have to make something up! surely its not worth 25kw though? yeh as i said above, remapping stocko ecu because i havent got the cash atm. but i will go pfc for sure. im not really that into the drags, but i would like to know my times just so i can ram them up my commo-loving mates. not sure how long the clutch will last though but my tyres seem to develop a lot of traction certainly compared to the ones i had previously (theyd bloody want to for $425 each) 12s!! sweet as!
-
thats alright! but mines a 430, not a 480 well, no im strapped for cash, so im remapping the stocko ecu. which is not ideal i realise, but i will get a pfc by my 21st in july hopefully.

hey all, just wondering what your predictions are for my new donk. should be rolling out hopefully tomorrow or monday at worst. oh the suspense after sitting in the driveway for 4 months! R33 GTS25t -pod -3in exhaust (possibly dump as well, output seems pretty good) 177rwkw now with: -replacement engine -kkr430 turbo -fmic -forward facing plenum -440cc injectors -fuel pump -bov im thinking ill go for 13-14 psi boost. and am hoping for at least 200rwkw, optimistically 210. what do you think? also, 1/4 mile on 255 bridgestones? im thinking 13.3? am i having a wank dreaming of 13.0? haha appreciate any input. bear in mind this is the 2nd engine ive had to replace in 9 months so funds for bigger mods have been hard to come by. i am looking forward to pulling apart my wrecked motor, some may remember it getting a compression test of 0psi in one of the cylinders. so i might post some pics when i get stuck into that. also, im hoping the head is fine so there might be a few bits for sale soon. thanks guys!

youre not wrong. i drove a 300rwkw gtst, and it was ridiculous. fishtailed in 3rd, quite dangerous really. and it had 255 rubber, same as mine, which isnt too shabby. imagine that damn 422kw maloo ute in motor? magazine. (there was a thread about its stupidity)
-
lucky boy. im getting mine back in a few days and should be pushing around 210rwkw! should be interesting as it was "only" 177rwkw before that hehe. i am very surprised you drive such a car on your ls, and will progress to ps? dunno how it works in SA. all i know is theres no way in buggery you could drive that car on your ps in nsw...

well all my mods are quoted on the policy, and just car has agreed to cover them. i would have thought passing rego qualifies a car as roadworthy. is the rta likely to pass a fmic? plenum? and what does it cost?
-
good question. i too am interested in this. as is the case with mine, id say most pods are mounted well clear of the engine and forward of it, so given the air flow across the engine, the hot air should be predominantly towards the rear. i have often heard the term cold air filter though, interested to know what it means exactly.
-
yes just car is really the only choice. shannons wont cover under 25s, so not even an option. im 20, and can get my full licence in a few months. and i got a quote for $2200 comprehensive (fairly modified R33 gts-t). and yeh about $800 3rd party+fire+theft up to $10k the excess is fairly high, especially on comprehensive. but you can increase your excess by up to $1100 i think, and save over $900 per year on your premium. as long as you keep that money set aside for worst case scenario, you could save over $900 a year! nrma LOL. my dad was quoted $5000+ (i was going to have him as primary driver)

no expert, but my hypothesis would be that you would suffer boost spikes everytime you changed gears, or got off the loud pedal after boost. invariably there is nowhere else for this air to go but your engine. and remember the throttle is never fully closed, it remains slightly ajar to allow idle. so the pressurised air would find its way into the chambers and create an extremely lean mixture, and possibly result in detonation. thats just my theory. i want to see how close i am to the truth.

you know its actually empty when it takes 55+ litres to fill it up! my fuel gauge is a bit dodgy, but the fuel light works, so you know when youre starting to push your luck. i get another 150 odd ks after my gauge reads E, and try to use the tripmeter to keep tabs on it.

well you certainly have a nice sounding car nemo. into the hks stuff i see. these forums are f*ken brilliant for info and advice! enjoy.

DUMBLEDORE!!

id much rather a R34 GT-R! they only look about 10 times better. and a hell of a lot cheaper. the R35 looks nice in red though, i must admit. the "hero" silver colour is very boring and appears on every other prestige car you will ever see. and its not even a skyline!

hey all. i have tried searching and there certainly seem to be some nice packages out there, rb30 bottom ends and what not, for $10k+ but that is well out of my pricerange. and id rather a gt-r if i was going to spend that money. so im looking for a 25DET and turbo package for my R33, to replace the mashed one currently in my driveway. the following is preferred: -low kms, rebuilt even better -turbo in good condition, ideally be a/m, but not essential -reasonably priced, i would like grunt, but constrained somewhat by money -may also be interested in mods, such as a/m injectors, intercooler, manifold, pipes, ecu, bov etc etc as part of a package hit me up with what youve got. location isnt a real issue, though obviously sydney is easier. 100 000km+ probably not interested. thanks guys!
-
haha that would have been my guess. but one can never be sure of these things! also, the reason why people break windows etc. is because is nsw its a $250 on-the-spot fine, and no court appearance or criminal record. but the fine for burnout is what...$461? yep i really hate the nsw gov.
-
might help if you mention what type of car it is! haha
-
stock boost. all its got is a pod and a 3" turbo back. i think it may also have a dump pipe because it was 180rwkw which seems a pretty good return from such minimal mods. i think the engine went first and possibly caused the turbo failure from lack of oil or debris. i hoping this is the case, because it was 10000kms out of a fresh rebuild and they can fix the damn thing if its as bad as it sounds. the turbo only went when the car was switched off a couple of minutes after noticing smoke coming out of the bonnet and pulling over. does that seem likely? it was still developing boost until i shut it down, but then when i started it next, no turbo!
-
nah, we tried it at least 5 times. same everytime. it was only after we decided to pull the valve covers off, had a look, and then went to test cyl 4,5,6 that it started raining.
-
wet or dry test? i think its sposed to be about 140-150 dry and and 160-170 wet but i could be wrong. im assuming you are referring to a rb25det. you are lucky, i made a post yesterday about my 10 000km engine having 0psi in one of the cylinders...
-
same thing happened to me, but it involved several punches to the face and a screwdriver. thankfully the screwdriver wasnt used. "couldnt find the rego" apparently...
-
nonsense! $350 on the spot fines are the solution to that! just ask the nsw premier!

judging by your display pic i conclude that you are in fact the stereotypically overweight and inept police officer. so my memory of the article may not have been perfect. doesnt change my correct claim that cops regularly waste taxpayers money. a prime example of this would be my court case on friday, which, unfortunately for you, will be thrown out in humourous fashion when i reveal the photographic evidence proving the prosecutors only evidence (his statement) is falsified. claiming to have SEEN beyond a blind crest, and a blind curve... silly policeman! and how much do you think all that will cost the taxpayer? court costs, magistrate, 2 officers, hopefully compensation to me for wasting my time...
