Is the modding scene slowing?
r33cruiser replied to Robocop2310's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Gotta laugh at the fourbie pages though (I'm on a couple, I went to the dark side too). After a decade of keeping an eye on my rear view mirrors and friends being defected for not having water in washing bottles etc, 1 4x4 drive gets defected for wheels sticking out 11ty inches from the guards and they go nuts, creating petitions and trying to lobby the gumbiment for legislative changes. -
Is the modding scene slowing?
r33cruiser replied to Robocop2310's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Well, I suppose even the cosmetic modding scene goes through stages. There was chrome, then neons, then the black bonnet fad, then shadowchrome/matt black, then stance and now I guess big F-Off wings are back in vogue? -
Is the modding scene slowing?
r33cruiser replied to Robocop2310's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I don't think the scene has slowed, just evolved I suppose. The days of commonly seeing cars with extreme body kits and loud paint schemes are gone. It's more common to see highly modified cars with stock exteriors. I think more people are seeing value in keeping cars tidy. I think this is a result of a younger generation coming through and showing appreciation for these cars which aren't a dime a dozen anymore (for clean examples). My 21y.o nephew just picked up a S13 and he plans to rebuild the engine and give it a good tidy up. Shieeeet, at his age I would have bolted up an undercar neon kit on that bad boy quicker than you can say chamillionaire's last song was dope! -

Biggest mistake EVER ! R34 Turbo
r33cruiser replied to 34Red's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Oh mate, I feel for you. It seems this is happening alot. My facebook feed is filled with people trying to sell their registered cars without RWC's or "can get RWC at buyers cost". WTF, isn't the legislation clear, if your selling a registered vehicle you must get a RWC before advertising? -

Similar issue with me. Didn't move it for 12 months in the garage- dodgy old front left Tyre. -
RB25 Neo, Drifting, getting response up
r33cruiser replied to Lopin18's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Strap on gt35, E85, 35ps....get bitches! In all seriousness, is response that crucial? I haven't seen drifters sitting on 3,000rpm around a track. -

Wow R33 prices are starting to pick up a bit. Even semi-clean examples with a tonne of KM'S are asking close to $15k: https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Nissan-Skyline-1996/SSE-AD-4942101/?Cr=8 -
Front facing plenum and fuel rail
r33cruiser replied to ceoont's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Shouldn't need an A/M fuel rail. I'd only change the rail if it's required for the injectors. Stock rail was kept for both my old GReddy and Plazzy. -

IF you are going to replace the plenum man, I'd recommend getting something like a Plazmaman. Don't go the GReddy. I've done both and its so much easier with the Plazzy, you keep the lower runners and a lot of the stock plumbing. -
Should i use a lightened flywheel
r33cruiser replied to iruvyouskyrine's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The only thing I noticed is that with a stock flywheel I could putt around town at 60kmh in 5th gear (RB25DET). Now I have to keep it in 4th- that is the only thing I've noticed. -
This. Up the boost, FMIC, exhaust etc etc. I got 256rwhp (190kw) years ago (no ecu, injectors). Plenty to have fun with until you want to upgrade your turbo (and everything else!).

All i'm going to say is CONGRATS! Congrats on getting the other half to sign off on a Cube! If only mine could see the light I think they look cool and...its a freaking Cube- packing one would be like playing a game of Tetris! Fun to drive around town?

This might sound stupid, but have you checked the CAS? Mine did the same thing. Swapped out the CAS, now all is good.

I think alot of fellow SAU members would be in the boat of "I've driven both" and can provide their 2c. It's personal taste more than anything else, yes they both have their differences but I would say in the end it comes down to two things: 1/ Cosmetic preferences - Do you prefer the curves of the R33 or the 'designed with a straight edge' R34? 2/ Resale value- Will the R33 start to claw back some of its value if kept tidy. I would argue that the GTT has now overtaken the r33 as the new jap commonwhore- atleast where I live.

R33 gtst Daily
r33cruiser replied to 33easy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Looks good mate. Just watch out with those blue bulbs in your headlights. I wasn't fined, but politely pulled over by police and asked to remove them= no emergency vehicle colours permitted on civilian vehicles.
