is there a way to return your settings back to stock. ive fooled with my suspension so much trying to make this 860hp 300zx go around corners that i think ive buggered it all up.

Firstly please dont post in colour. I can hardly read that. 1. Dunno, check the P/S belt. Is it frayed? 2. Yes you can. Lots of Jap wreckers will have these. Phone one from the yellow pages Auto Dismantlers section. 3. Open the bonnet. Look behind the headlight. Unscrew the cap over the bulb. take the bulb out. Take it with you to the nearest auto parts shop. Buy exactly the same bulb for $7 and reverse above to put it back in.

Well yeah. I would go a larger intercooler first before the ECU. Then PowerFC. Don't buy the SAFC because you will eventually want to upgrade to the PowerFC anyway (even if you don't know it yet). Since the price difference is only $300 anyway its not a huge leap. Oh yeah, and buy it from Japan. www.greeline.jp or www.nengun.siteblast.com. All aussie retailers having amusing prices for this stuff.

My First Skyline, if i had kids they would have one of these: http://www.ccp-jp.com/toy/products/ridekc/.../ride_kick.html

Ok it's spelt "Opinion" ok. And my opinion is those wheels are ugly as ass.

Dont bother with an aftermarket blow off valve. The stock one is fine. If all you want is the Psht noise you will get that as soon as you fit a pod filter. Save the money you would've spent on some bad BOV and put it into improving the other things that are undoubtedly fixable on the car like the exhaust which must be stock since its under the new scheme.

I use brant but ive modified it with some extra bits and pieces. Brant have a good name and gave me a discount for being a club member.

Off topic but ... You take the skyline down to the lighthouse yet?? hehe i have friends in wollongong and everytime i take it down there they want to drive it a few laps down the lighthouse... Maybe ive seen yours down there

I bought my Skyline from a "dealer" and have been so dissapointed in that decision. I needed to get some small things fixed but when I called him about it he was evasive and didn't want to give me times and hung up on me. Basically I refused to take my car back to him because I didn't trust him to fix it properly (as you have found, they arent worth shit). Basically NEVER BUY A PERFORMANCE CAR FROM A USED CAR DEALER. An importer is a different thing from an import dealer. I would only buy an import from an importer in the future. Especially under the new RAW scheme for imports.

I hear a similar sounding noise in 2nd and 4th gear only. I think in mine it is a countershaft bearing.

It's not illegal because it lacks a lid, it's illegal due to the EPA restrictions. That is it's too noisy (induction noise and the like) and the changes in emissions which may occur due to the changed intake. Putting a lid on it is a way to lower the probability the cops are gonna defect you for it during an under bonnet inspection, but if they heard a blow off valve type noise from your car they probably wont know/care where it came from. Cops seem to think that "blow off valves" are illegal tools of the devil. I would like to know if many of them actually know theyre just another part of a standard proper turbo car setup.

Thought about it but have you actually ever pulled the airbox out? It is far too small to fit a pod filter inside and if you could find a pod filter that small it would actually reduce performance due to friction, and generally a lower filter surface area than the stock panel. I then thought of building a fiberglass box that would take the stock airbox lid and fit a pod filter inside. That seems to be a better idea maybe.
-
Yes. Otherwise you should go back to the stock airbox. A pod filter with no partition will cost you performance every time. See this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...&threadid=13003

I have thought about that as well. Now the aluminium is insulated with foam it gets warm but never hot/red hot/too hot to touch. To solve the problem of getting the heat out of the aluminium i was thinking of thermal epoxying on some aluminium heatsinks on the cold side. I dont know if this would worsen the problem of heatsoak however in the long term or increase the effective heatsoak time to beyond average lenght of time spent stopped thereby negating it.... Only way to find out is to experiment. Or could just remove the headlight and poke the pod out the front

does it happen in all gears?
-
Hey could you send it to me too: suid@chilli.net.au I believe this used to be linked from Meggala's site as well but thats now a dead link.

Interesting. The people driving around with pod filters but without partitions should take note of the air temps they are sucking in. What thermometer model did you use? I tried to buy thermometers from Jaycar 2 weeks ago to perform similar testing with my own partition (http://www.endusk.com/skyline/caip/caip.html) but the dumbasses couldn't find where in the shop they put them..... When I get some I will add some notes on the temp differences between using just neoprene and using aluminium + neoprene stuff + sealing rubbers.

Thanks, i still havent found a match but that What The Font site is great.

What are they saying the 96 upgrade kit is? S2 differences are quite numerous. Every time i pull something off the car i find its slightly different to a mates S2. So far I have: - Turbo differences - AFM differences - Airbags passenger, and driver side - Front bar - Bonnet - Headlights - Grill - Rear badging - Different type of plastic used in the dash, more wear resistant - Factory stereo (S1 had optional CD player but some just had tape decks!) - S2 rear strut tower brace (is this factory?) - More im sure. Basically the S2 just looks a lot better on the road due to the cosmetic upgrades and will probably be in better condition since its newer. Anyway 23 grand would put you in '95 '96 GTST territory at private sale or importer. Car yards suck and will screw you over at every turn post-sale.

does anyone have the SKYLINE font? The same one used in the banner on this very site? Thanks
