  1. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ght=R33+antenna I have replaced the mast in the R33 antenna before. Its very easy and can be done in less than 45minutes and costs about $25 in parts. I think it is possible to do without removing the unit from the car. If it is the motorised part of the unit that is broken its more expensive (around $100 for a universal replacement unit that fits into the Skyline).
  2. I've driven the US Spec e36 M3 and while the exhaust note was amazing the car didnt have any balls. The auto that was in it was crap too. Luckily the aussie M3 isn't anything like that I've heard.
  3. I did this last weekend. I've heard a lot of things about toothpaste, cut and polish, iguana sweat... i decided to try them all. My observations follow: Toothpaste Toothpaste (Colgate Whitening toothpaste) works. Well it works better than nothing. I got my headlights looking visibly cleaner with toothpaste. Method used was to squirt a bit on in the middle and wipe in circular pattern all around the headlight. Rating: 4/10 Mothers Cut and Polish I didn't have any Meguirs or any special plastic cleaner, so after the toothpaste I tried some Mothers cutting stuff. I used pretty much the same method to apply it, squirt some on and rub it circular until it becomes a thin coating and starts working. Then with a clean soft cloth wipe off any residue. Results, the headlights look close to new with the lights off, turn the lights on and they still look a bit aged but they are 10 years old so what can I expect. Rating 9/10.
  4. Some people have different tastes when it comes to the sound of their car. They may think that all aftermarket exhausts are noisy or attract defects. They may think they would void their vehicles factory warranty (in the case of the WRX, especially since Subaru knocked back that engine failure warranty claim due to aftermarket exhaust mods). Skyline owners have less excuses. I myself am in the "stock exhaust" club here but it's only because of lack of funds and i've just bought the car in the last couple of months. Trying to gather my shit together after I had to spend my savings buying the car.. edit: On that note, PM sent to BATMBL to confirm new 3" dump/front and hi-flow cat :burnout:
  5. I'll give you $70 if you include postage to Sydney. PM me with payment details Offer only valid if all mounting brackets and hoses/fitting hardware are included. Does it have install instructions & box?
  6. Pics of the quickshift? Pics of it installed in an R33? Thanks.
  7. yeah but you can get them from Japan for $500 delivered... sorry but yeah.

    best post ever :uh-huh:
  9. So thats what that hose is. I found mine to be disconnected last time i pulled the dash off... Should stick it back on then!
  10. Depends on the dyno, and the conditions like ambient temperature. I would say 125rwkw @ the rears would be pretty average from my research around various forums. Best way to find out is go get it dynod!
  11. My stock R33. Paint has swirls in it as well, would a professional detailer be able to do something about that? (images are clickable for big versions) Note the stock wheels, lack of side skirts, stock series 1 grill, front bar, and the factory optional rain guards on the driver/passenger doors. The only exterior mods I have done so far are 20% tint all round (except windscreen)
  12. Ive been in an Infiniti G35 sedan, my boss in the US took us for a spin going to lunch one day. Its not as pretty as the coupe and its not as powerful as i expected but it sure is nice. It had the tiptronic transmission and when he hit the rev limiter it sounded awesome. Bounced it for a couple seconds... If i had to have a sedan i would still choose the R34 4 door any day. The coupe is quite nice looking tho.

    Afm

Yeah there should be two mesh pieces. I have removed the one after the AFM but left the one facing the air filter on. Your AFM sounds like my friends S2 AFM (pink plate). Does the element assembly/plastic part go all the way accross the pipe? Mine only goes 2/3rds of the way accross.

    Afm

Does anyone know if the AFM from the S1 R33 differs from the AFM in the S2. I have just had my airbox/AFM out to clean it and apparently it looks substantially different to my friends S2 AFM. It has a green plate on it on the bottom of the unit and seems to have a plastic shroud around two elements in the middle. Aparently my friends S2 has only a single wire?
  15. I am not 100% satisfied with the brant products either. For the price, some bits just feel cheap and nasty. Whats with those budget remotes??? My old $200 mongoose had classier remotes.
  16. On the R33 there is a fuel pump control thing in the boot on the right hand side behind the lining of the boot. Perhaps there is something similar on the R32? Would save you poking around!
  17. Has anyone ever experienced a noisy countershaft bearing? I took someone for a drive in my R33 S1 and they heard the noise from my gbox thats been bothering me for a while in 2nd and 4th gears. They suggested it might be a countershaft bearing. Anyone heard this?
  18. Invest $3 in a test light with a pointed probe. You connect one aligator clip end to the body and probe the likely wires for a +12v.
  19. Thanks. Yeah, thinking about it, there is a lot of labour. Does a broken stud mean it will be leaking exhaust gases? Perhaps not since im only running stock boost. I dont hear any leak noises or feel any power loss, but its always been broken so i may not notice it.
  20. Sorry for dredging up slightly dead topics but my R33 has a broken exhaust manifold stud as well. Did they give you a price on fixing it? Ive been told $1000. But i brush that off as them taking me for a sucker, they said they wanted to "do them all at the same time" which i took to mean "we want to take all your money at the same time". Im a bit interested to know that this is a common skyline problem. Has anyone ever fixed this before?
  21. Did my rears on the weekend, v. easy.
  22. You might not want to hear this but: DONT BUY IT. Theres more skylines where that came from. Ones without problems like that. How many km's on the clock? If all it needs is the belt replaced, get the dealer to do it before you sign anything and see if it really fixes the problem.
  23. I saw these wheels in HPI mag i think (some mag) they looked a lot better in that photo. I dont like the Drift R logo. A bit tryhard to ripoff the GTR logo in my opinion. Why not use some creativity and be original instead? Thats a pretty lame criticism but it would put me off buying them so...
  24. That 3some picture is awesome. You could do some really nice photos with those three cars in the same place at the same time. More!
  25. They just played it on SBS. Didn't think they were playing that one in Australia. Aparently they are!
