  1. looks a bit blurry at 1280x1024 on this LCD. You need a tripod. It would look awesome if it was sharp.
  2. Was working on the car this weekend and cant believe i didnt spot this before I bought my car. Its a sticker on the top of the engine. Im assuming it details the date and mileage of when the cam belt was last changed. It was half torn off but its still legible. It is in Japanese but the numbers read: 13 7 11 97442 I cant explain the 13,7,11 bit but the 97442 sure does seem to suggest my car has done well over the 72000 kms on the clock. Any suggestions what the other numbers mean?
  3. Fixed it today. Cost a grand total of $26 in parts from SuperCheap Autos. The "AEPRO universal replacement mast and rope" model number AP12 worked perfectly. Lucky too because it was the only place i could find replacement masts and it was one of the only models they stock. Bargain!
  4. Sounds like a good idea. What about the cable that runs from the antenna to the radio? Do I have to run a new cable as well, or does it unplug from the motorised antenna end and plug into the new antenna? This looks like the best plan so far.
  5. Hey guys, Since i picked up my Skyline a week ago I have noticed a strange noise through a certain rev range. About 1800 - 2500 rpm. It generally happens only in 2nd and 4th gears. The noise sounds a bit like a bearing noise, i first thought it might be a leak in the intake or something but it doesnt manifest itself in 3rd gear at all. It sounds like a hissing unlubed bearing type noise. Hardish to describe. Once it hits boost the noise kind of vanishes with speed increase. I was searching for something on the forums and the thread at this link might relate. Would bearings in different gears make different noises? Should i take it back to the dealer and get them to replace the bearings? Car is a 1993 5 speed manual Skyline R33 GTS25t. Thanks!
  6. "f***en whoops!!" How much did nissan charge for that? I have got prices ranging from $95+labour to fit a new mast to $125+labour for a new(secondhand) unit. I am going to try a repair job myself using a "universal replacement mast/rope" and pull the unit out myself. It looks like something i could handle and might learn something at the cost of $19 part from Supercheap. If not, ill chalk it up to experience and wear the $100++ cost... Thanks for the replies
  7. How funny. I was down in Wollongong for the day as well to see some old friends and take the Skyline for a drive. Drove around that area and checked out the cars. Saw a nice silver R34 and one white R33. Didnt see you tho. Was in my dark grey R33.
  8. How much did they charge you for that if i may ask?
  9. Took my R33 down for a nice drive down to Wollongong on the weekend and it did the same thing as you describe. Stopped counting in between 71899 and 71900. I suspect this is a side effect of being wound back, which doesn't make me happy. It started counting again after a little while and is working ok now. Might get it looked at still.
  10. Hey guys, My antenna is pretty stuffed, it wont go down as there is a very slight bend in a few of the segments. I tried to bend it straight but it came close to snapping off so I stopped. Does anyone know of a replacement solution, will a replacement mast (ive seen these available at like Super Cheap) fit? would one of those "universal motorised antennas" fit? Maybe a wrecker would sell me one, anyone know a likely candidate to have this part? Thanks
  11. Just wanted to share my experience with Famous. Called them this morning and got a quote for a stock 1993 R33 GTS25t, 24 years old with 55% NCB in inner Sydney. $2600 for 12 months. Best quote i've had, beat Just Cars by about $200. Spoke to Robin, very helpful answering all my questions, sorted the whole thing out. Edit: Also only 1 nominated driver, and i told them it was my daily driver + commuter. Damn good price.
