  1. I wondered what it did when I saw it... so the users manual just conveniently ignores it's existence?
  2. The carwings button doesn't work Neither of the wings deploy...
  3. Radio doesn't work, our frequency bands do not overlap really. You can get a band expander but your display will always read wrong. Not a reason not to buy one if the price is right though. They may sell you certain parts provided you can give them an Aussie VIN number but some parts they just wont sell period, even if you really do own a Australian delivered R35 GT-R. These are things like: - Engine assembly - Transaxle assembly - ECU and TCM Lots more, see the attachment.
  4. The 20" Toyo R888's will be a great addition to the GT-R just as soon as they decide to get released. Been holding my breath a while now.
  5. Thats the great part about an Australian delivered car. Designed for Australian fuels. When my 34 GTR was stock the ECU used to get cranky if the 98 wasn't perfect and cut timing, used to shit me.
  6. I expect he's out driving it at the moment. We probably wont see him online for a while now...
  7. First mods should be a Y-Pipe and the Cobb ECU and probably a boost controller because even with the latest maps some people complain about issues with Cobb's boost control. The next best value for money mod is the wastegate actuators swap. Your Australian spec GT-R will have stiffened brake lines anyway, not sure brake lines are needed. Brake pads and some aftermarket slotted rotors for is all you need for the brakes. BOVs? Why would you bother... Unless you're already buying the GT570 kit which comes with them there's no reason to go out and buy these on purpose. With the seriesII suspension, spring kits aren't really doing anything for you unless you just want to lower it and already standard ride height is low. They weren't designed with the series II suspension in mind. See what comes out over the next few months in terms of springs but probably not worth doing. Crank pulley? I wouldn't. K&N Filters? Probably fine to replace the stock ones after the run in period with these but dont expect any gains.
  8. It's the new lightened e-tag? I heard it was good for an extra second at the Nurburgring.
  9. The press release made by Nissan today is great for Skylines Australia - I don't know too many other times Nissan has acknowledged the club. Great work Snowman. As for attracting new members, the R35 has certainly done that. Of course some of the most critical people are also long term members...
  10. BBI Autosport in the states just built one they plan on selling, heres the thread with the first one: http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=29293
  11. This is good in theory but the ConsultIII you can buy cannot wipe the black box data. The ownership of one that can is tightly restricted to NHPC dealerships. Yeah a couple may have gotten out but not realistic to hope for access to one. People have reverse engineered the black box enough to get the log data out now but in terms of resetting the data it's probably a longer road ahead.
  12. Suzuki-san was there but it isn't his decision. He's an employee just like everyone else and this policy is handed down by management types . When they told everyone why the cones were there they handed over to a representative of Nissan Japan who gave the explanation and was very sorry but it's the global policy etc etc.
  13. No warranty on the track, once you take it back on the road and post-track inspect it the warranty continues right?
  14. Well that's very interesting to hear about the specifics on the agreement. I'd love to read that one. As for tires, Beer Baron is spot on and neither is a horrible tire. The beading on the rim doesn't mean anything for replacing with another tire. Many aftermarket wheels have beaded rims. Runflat tires overall are not the best, too many compromises in my opinion. 18" TE37s with a semi-slick is a proven combination in the US where these things are cheap and therefore thrashed on the track. TE37's with a MT drag radial works great for low 10's too .
  15. It was the launch of the 370z hence the display. The R35 GT-R launch was last year but still featured heavily in Dan Thompson's speech at the motor show. Nissan are very interested in selling GT-Rs but it isn't a big volume deal like the 370z is.
  16. There were no laptimes because Nissan's policy is to modify the circuit with cones. They do this for a few reasons, to prevent unskilled journos killing themselves full tilt down the main straight and to prevent onlookers taking unskilled journos laptimes as a benchmark for how the car can perform. They had a mandatory cone chicane and a slalom on the main straight.
  17. VDC is improved greatly to be far less intrusive in R mode. More power. Better rubber. Ideal conditions.
  18. That info sounds right. Aus spec production has only recently started. Three genuine 2009 Aus spec cars are in the country now but they were fast tracked for press. I'm sure the first customer cars will be on a boat soon. The premiums do come with Bridgestones. You cannot just swap tires because Nissan just don't have any tires to swap you with. Also this has been a problem in other regions and not solved yet and probably wont ever be solved.
  19. You mean the one I posted on gtrblog and the front page of SAU ? hehe. yep i got the tip from Best Motoring. We'll see but it's most likely cause by the slow but good street Bridgestones vs. noisy but sticky base model Dunlops that accounts for the time difference.

    R35 Brake Lines

That's strange Martin because even Nissan acknowledged the brake lines were a bit soft and upgraded them for 2009 base GT-R and SpecV. A few other guys in the US commented on it also. Sure it's not necessary and when they were $600USD not worth it but for $150 it's not a bad idea.
  21. Thats good news. The Cobb is already well established and even the Japs are being converted. Top Secret, AutoSelect and other tuner shops are using it on their GT-Rs...
  22. Heh... Do that yourself? It's not as obvious as the price tag suggests it should be.
  23. Over a certain power level you'll need to go to the Haltech. Theres quite a number of reasons. Injector size increases, ignition mods, MAP sensors that can read past 22psi etc. The Haltech solution will be very solid when released. Zele and other Japanese tuners are selling pre-flashed OEM ECUs which aren't going to be that suitable for Aussies since there's no support once you install it. The exception is Power Enterprise which are selling a reflash and a box of electronics which intercepts ECU signals before they reach the ECU so it is tuneable to some extent. The solution for most GT-R owners is that someone in Australia needs to become an AccessTuner Pro shop and offer custom tunes for the AccessPort. Otherwise the Haltech will have the best support here.
  24. Yeah, was running Dunlops day 1 and Bridgestones the rest? Judging from the photos ... Bloody awesome work on the Bridgestones.
