Servicing Concerns (not Asking Where I Should Service It)
BANGN replied to kikutaknight's topic in Western Australia
gtst dont have driveshafts in the front for starters, its most likely going to be a wheel brg majority of the time warrantees are not worth the paper they are printed on, take the car to hyperdrive to get a full look over, you can then use the information collected against the guy at the car yard. how many kms has the car done? Make sure the waterpump has been replaced, no point in asking, the waterpump should be shiny still.. when was timing belt done and the biggest thing about skylines because of the km's is none of the cooling hoses have been replaced, unless you want to be stuck on the side of the road get that sorted because the little heater hoses do pop. also check out your rubber fuel lines at the front of the car and to the tank and also your power steering and hicus lines -
exactly mystery_kid well Im not about to write down each hose price as I can get a very good capricorn price which I am not about to reveal but the whole gearbox rebuild, all the water, fuel and fluid hoses and fuel pump and all new trident hose clamps is very roughly $1050 off the top of my head and that is using all genuine water hoses apart from 2 rad hoses and the two small hoses a the backside of the head that lead to the turbo, everything else is genuine, fuel hoses and fluid hoses I purchased about 10 metres of hte shit so I have ample supply and about 70 hose clamps now lol pays to be in the industry heres some pics of the parts all cleaned up.. nice and clean through out, rocker covers are spotless inside

Removal Of Hicus R32 Gtst
BANGN replied to BANGN's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
there is no cooler on the front of a gtst, it just goes to the front, does a loop and comes back into the bay, I can only asume the pipes get cool :S as a temporary solution do you think my theory would work? i spose I could take it off, block those holes up, drop some fluid down it and see if it comes out the other side :S -
Gday, Name is Dan Purchased this R32 GTST 3 weeks ago. Its had regular oil changes but doesnt look like much has been done in actually doing regular maintenance and inspections So heres the car after I gave it a much needed wash and polish, boy was it faded, came up mint tho! Heres what it looks like atm and so here is what I am doing Installing a new Bosch 040 fuel pump replacing all radiator, bypass and heater hoses with genuine nissan hoses replacing all the hicus and power steering hoses replacing all the 8mm & 6mm fuel hoses (still wondering if I should put 10mm fuel line on it yet replacing all fuel, fluid and coolant hose clamps with darty ones replacing rocker cover seals, D rubbers and bolt down seals re-sealing all water fittings to intake manifold and block getting the gearbox reconditioned at work also removing the hicus motor and turbo are sound so will be nice and reliable now il post pics up as I am replacing them, im off to the shop tomorrow to pickup some more hoses and clamps

Removal Of Hicus R32 Gtst
BANGN replied to BANGN's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
both those lines go to the back of the car, the power steering rack has its own line out of the same box or are you saying that one is an outlet and one is a return from the rear of the car which leads to the front rack, thus stoping the cycle to the front end? -
I just purchased this car a couple weeks ago and noticed a leak at the back of the car, well I got under the car today and found the hicus bar still there but NO hoses going to it, i tracked it down the line further and found the two lines from the front of the car had been cut halfway up and looped with a shitty arse peice of hose and some cable ties.. DODGY well i hate hicus anyway so I was going to remove all the pipe work up to the fluid box in the engine bay and so I would like to know if I can unhook these two lines you see below (allready removed one bolt as you can see) and just go and get some shorter height standard bolts and block the holes up? or doing that stop flow to the front steering rack

I think the Wastegate has come unconnected, opening up from exaust gas pressure and just venting constantly, test the actuator to check if it still moves under pressure, check the lines from the manifold to makre sure its actually getting pressure as well it sounds like the gasket has shat initially... you have taken the turbo away from the manifold and disconected accidently the hose to the actuator in the path from the manifold or the wastegate is no longer conected to the actuator which is making it flop around, initally I think you havent tightened up your turbo hose and its received large pressure due to no actuator and now it seems the wastegate flap is constantly open and not alowing any pressure to be fed to the exhaust wheel that sounds like the more l logical thing than just doom and gloom

well work this out my mates R31 rb25det at 12psi with 040 pump, exhaust, ebc gets chopped by my r32 gtst, completly stock on 14psi and mines heaps quicker i cant work that shit out, but if he gets a dif computer he will chop i rekn

what hp is the 040 rated for? 350rwhp?
-
I figured to get a 044 cos i wana go larger hp in a couple years.. but after reading all that CBF doing that atm, il wait til i get the power and then il upgrade.. so i have organised a 040 instead.. least then i can just modify the bracket and drop it in
-
i just got a 044 for my 32 gtst.. but there is no strainer.. just a fitting hole at the base.. what are people doing with their install?

A warning to those looking at a Black R33 in morley, I found it in the quokka for 11G which claims its excel condition throughout has had respray down rhs quarter that looks very orangepealy has 137km on speedo... has a motor with a 230,000 note on the timing belt had been done, has white pen over the radiator thats been tried to wash off... has a RB25DE sticker under the bonnet most likely the sticker will be removed now because I pointed it out "oh na mang it was oready rike that" place looks like a dodge. so warning to those looking.
-
more quotes ftw.. tell the guy to eat a dick. hes obviously doing a dodgy either declair it as a reparable write off or hes getn half the car resprayed in reality (doing other things that he wants done making you pay for it) put it this way.. i had a lady run up the back of my old AE101 levin.. there is about 5 in perth. I had the rear pulled back slightly, bumper was bogged slightly and resprayed, new tail lamp.. i got the roof sprayed as well (figured what the hell), had the front bumper touched up.. that cost 1100 bucks... your getting dodged for sure.. im in the parts industry, call SSS auto parts or Kenji auto parts, they sell new aftermarket parts.. I would be sourcing hte parts from there, they are cheap as chips.. they might be quoting on genuine parts but even then thats just crazy.. bumpers are tops 500 bucks genuine for somthn like that, guard woud be about 360 for a genuine one i rekn.. plus paint and laybour.. your getn jipped!

CLICKY CLICKY Is this person for real, its got gtst seats, an rb20 and claims its a BNR GTR with a 26 in it and AWD bahh clowns like this shit me, especially with the mess they have made of that gtst!
-
LOL i just came in here to post this up! beat me to it Very well done imo, so much truth
-
try find a secondhand one.. a new one will be a really rediculous price being a safety item, my guess around 800 bucks.

remember a couple years ago when there was that WRX converted to RWD in NZ doing burnouts in a NZ industrial area and those 2 guys drifting somwhere in japan in the hills Channel 7 used it for australian footage and said the WRX was in sydney and the hills footage was in SA! it had yellow lines on the road ffs they do it all the time, its bullshit. it interests me on why they use the same yellow r34 doing a donut in every hoon vid, when originally it was the camera man asking him to show a demonstration of horsepower.. next thing he knows hes on the news for hooning!
-
because they have a loud valve train?? LOL fair comment ossie_21, sounds like another typical label profiling to me..
-
ahh sorry i must of overlooked somewhere in this thread its NA, well yeh i spose that doesnt help lol
-
tbh, the hoon laws dont really effect me, sure it annoys me the fact they are targeting people with an interest in cars, mainly imports, I see a time and a place for everything and if your stupid enough to do it in crowded place that so many people can see then its obvious it will create a negative image for the enthusiest community, its just channel f**king 7 & channel 9 who brainwash perth that everyone who has a modified car is a hoon. Obey the road rules and be watchful and it shouldnt matter to you either. Heres a true story for you all... When i first got my p plates which was about 5 years ago, I did a detour through kalamunda oval car park and hit some loose gravel, i was accelerating up a slope on gravel and i broke a bit of traction up the hill, i figured meh and just kept accelerating creating a cloud of dust behind me. It was about a 10m loss of traction, I had an exhaust on my car, rims and was lowered, it wasnt overly loud. 3 Hours later the police were on my door telling my mum I was reported for doing handbrake burnouts at the oval by someone walking their dog and i was going to have my licence taken off me, Mum said i wasnt there and i had gone out, so they came up the next day! and i was home, I told the officer that wasnt the case i had a loss of traction up a gravel slope, i had a mate there who was pulled aside and confirmed my story.. So i was told to pull my head in. 3 months ago my mums ex husband broke into the house in kalamunda and took alot of mums things and grafitied on a mirror and threw all my mums clothes in the fish pond. The police took 6 hours to respond to file a report. Kalamunda police have been trying to find him to charge him for burglary, in which we located him 2 months later and told wanaroo police where he lived and we agreed to rock up at his house and collect mums stuff and wanaroo police were to charge him.. Wanaroo police station confirmed it was a go ahead. We are at his door with the police and suddenly the police decided to ring head office to make sure its ok to charge him, they came back and said they cant charge him, kalamunda police have to charge him..... do you think kalamunda police would drive to wannaroo???? then he threatended to kill us the next day and we were warned that he was on his way up to mums house, lucky i was their, he currently has a VRO but that doesnt matter to him. The Police were called and they wouldnt come up until he was actually at the house. If he had a gun that would of been a bit late dont you think. but the summary of my story is this.... If you do a burnout anywhere in perth, ANY police station can charge for you wreckless driving, wether you did it in northrbrige, made it back to armadale and armadale police could confiscate your car and do watever.. but if you burgle a house in kalamunda and you live in wanaroo, you get away with it. what f**ked up system is this. /rant

both my 32's came with headvisor that had a Airbag warning, neither of them actually had airbags. Airbag light will flash when you start it if it used to have air bags also look in the fuse box to see if there is a fuse of some sort. airbags in 32's are rare as. what size wheels are you running? I used to have 205 55 16s and 215 55 16s, if u have 15's u should run a 205 65 15 (comodore and falcon spec) but legally you are aloud 2 rim sizes larger from factory. I havnt seen a 15 on a skyline before tho, 16's are the smallest i seen, cos the space saver is sized and profiled to meet a 16" with 205 55 height, but ul be able to get a sticker from nissan if u provide a chassis number, there not expensive, like 15 bucks abouts id say, prob ex japan tho but u never no. Call northside nissan.

I dont understand how your car is concidered loud, my mates car has a 25det with a 3.5" straight through system with no cat with a screamer pipe and cannon and its not loud at all, its only loud when he plants it. only POS SR's are loud and gay sounding.

Advice Needed On Registering Car Being Bought Over From Nsw
BANGN replied to stolly's topic in Western Australia
dont expect to pass over the first time tho, they will turn you away if you have a slight oil leak. being a comodore it will have plenty as soon as the car hits WA soil you arnt aloud to drive it so yeh like levinet said.. get a permit, its only about 12 bucks. prepare to pay about 70 bucks for your first going.. second time will be about 35 from memory. go first thing in the morning and go to welshpool.
