  1. Re; Pad availability -
  2. All I can say is - don't knock them until you have tried them ! I have a set of K-Sport 8 pot calipers & rotors on my Cosmo (these are the same as G4) - And they are an awesome package for the $$ - The car stops on a dime now ! Oh - and I also have the coilovers - very capable suspension package too ! Very light and very strong. Adjustable everything, and looks good too ! Don't go on hearsay ! Try them for yourself !
  3. Don't worry - he won't talk again !
  4. I'd say that is about right for a factory ECU. WEll done !
  5. Is it the latestst ? ie Firmware etc ?? Sequential Fire ? Manuals ? When was it bought new ??
  6. Pics coming !
  7. Yeah - they are the same as G4 - However, in my case - if I had bought the kit from JJ, then got an adaptor made, new studs and all the labour - I reckon I ended up paying heaps heaps less ! They are awsome brakes ! absolutely briliant compated to the standard cosmo - there is no comparison !
  8. Suprisingly not ! My old rotors were warped - and the Cosmo come with tiny rotors and single pot calipers. So I investigated options - The best and most affordable option was 2nd hand FD RX7 Calipers with RX8 rotors. I figured about $2000-$2500 for this - Also there was a bit of machining and mucking around for this conversion. Both Calipers, 330mm rotors, braided lines, fluid and pads, including fitting cost me $2,500. Before the upgrade - front to left difference in pressure was 9% - Now it is less then 1%. The brake kit is designed in Japan and manufatured in Taiwan - Brand is K-Sport ! (Similar to the ones Just Jap sells) but these guys are a workshop so any non standard stuff or hard to replace items (eg for a Cosmo) - they work out how to do it ! Very Happy !
  9. As you may know - I have my fair share if 'interesting' experiences with mechanics & workshops. So when I go to one that give me outstanding service and quality of product (and price) - I like to share the goodness ! So the story goes: Went looking for some coilovers for my TX3 race car project. A member of TeamEunos (like SAU but for Mazda/Eunos/Cosmo etc) recomended that I try A&B Motorsport in Brookvale. Talked to Frank, the owner, and he showed my his inverted race coilovers with adjustable everything (damper, height, camber, etc) - they were a good price, so I told him that I'd think about it ! Whilst there - I noticed some 8 piston calipers with massive rotors and I asked him about them for the Cosmo - Although they didn't have a specific kit for the Cosmo - he said he could make one up for me. He also told me that I I took the coil overs, that he would fit the brakes for a good price. So I went with the deal. He spent 2 days getting the brakes 200% right ! Didn't charge me for the 2 days and he had to make new brackets, and spend a bunch of time with different types of rotors to get the right offset etc. As an example - the original wheel studs with the new rotors meant that the wheel nuts would only go on 80% - Most other workshop would have just left it at that - But being particular about his work, he hunted down 10 new studs that were 10mm longer that the originals - so that the wheel nuts went on fully and then some ! Very happy with the final result ! 8 Piston calipers, braided lines, all fluid changed, 330mm slotted rotors - It stops like a demon now ! I liked the coilovers for the TX3 - and asked about the Cosmo - again, no specific kit - but he would make one up - Sure enough - Got the car back - and perfect ! Sits lower - he got all the adjustments/allignment and stuff spot on 300% perfect. Ride is firm but comfortable and the car looks a hell of a lot better sitting lower and with the big brakes on the front ! So a big UP to Frank and Rob at A&B Motorsport in Brookvale ! Give them a hoy - if you are after brakes, suspension, etc - They also have a dyno - they don't tune yet - just power runs. Cheers,

  12. These are advertised on TeamEunos, AusRotary and will go on e-bay - so will go soon ! Make an offer !
  13. Hey dude - what brand suspension is in the front ? One of the stuts is bent and I want to get it reco'd rather than replace....... Cheers
  14. Having heaps of fun ! Thanks for the tips re hand cleaning. I generally use gloves - but there are just some things that require the fingers..... Good luck with your Project Mal. !
  15. I enquired at Haltech re the computer that the car came with - it's an F2. 20 Years old ! Apparently Haltech's first ECU. Still works but ! So yeah, I think 20 years has put a lot of RD into the new ECUs. So - Microtech you reckon ???
  16. Anyone know a place in Sydney that will repair coilovers ?? Don't know what brand they are - but they look the goods and are nice and stiff ! One strut has a small bend in it - springs etc are good - so rebuilding would be good over replacement. Anyone know a place that can do this ? CHeers,
  17. Nah - still working on it. (Part of the fun). I am doing all the work myself , just taking it slowly. It needs a fair bit of work too. You get that when you pay stuff all for an ex race car. So far I have: * Cut rust out of the roof and bogged up - Shithouse job, but hey. I am no panel beater. It will do ! * Half way through changing the clutch. * Whilst changing the clutch found the some other stuff that was farked so I am also: * Fitting New front wheel bearings. * Fitting New front disc rotors - DBA Slotted ! * Both tie rod ends * Both lower ball joints * New suspension bushes all round * New front engine mount * Swapping power steering rack with manual rack (as the power rack had it's hydrolics removed) * The front struts needs a refresh - one was a bit bent. But they are damn good coilovers, so I hope i can get them fixed. that should take care of the front - Then I need to do the rear. - The whole rear suspension and chassis has been rose jointed. It rattles like a bastard - so I think I will need to do some replacing there. Found a couple of places that need a weld up here and there - no biggy. I think I have decided not to register it - as it would be too costly to put back to standard - Example - the brake lines are fully braided - I means fully - from front to rear - all the standard metal lines have been removed so it would be a bitch to put back ..... and not as good ! What else - Umm - compression is fine accross all cylinders - which is good ! Need to get new seats Remove the read seats - rig up the harness properly - might get a new one as this one is abit old. Don't know wheter to leave it 2WD or put the tailshaft back in and see what the fuss is there - ( Locked rear diff I think - which is good for rallying, but no good for circuit) I think I might ditch the old Haltech as it is only a fuel computer - Might rip all the dodgy woring out and put something else in - maybe a mictorech or newer haltech - or even one of thode New Wolf ECUs - Something affordable. Then I need to get a trailer to get it places. Oh - and get some cheater tyres.. So far the car has cost me: $1000 for the car. $250 for the front suspension and steering stuff $300 for front discs. $295 for new clutch What's that - about $2K so far. Maybe I should get the old seats re-trimmed - or get some of those Just Jap ones.... So I probablly put another $2-3K into it - and it will be great - and nearly all new stuff ! Fun project so far. But god damn, I am getting dirty hands - can't get the gease off - no matter how much solvol I use ! ha ha !
  18. Yeah - what the AR of the rear housing ??? Cheers,
  19. Well done ! A nice win there - Spend it on mods ! Go the 13's :D Congratulations !
  20. I never had any slap with my Arias Pistons - I think the clearances have to be 100% spec'd as per Arias recomendation to avoid this - also use the rings that come with the pistons - not gapless rings or anything for these.
  21. I guess I didn't need to post that..... Love your sarcasm Christian - thanks for that !
  22. Same same.
  23. Thats what it came with ! Changing to COZ-20B next week !
  24. Better pics
