Well, that was a short holiday.
The day after we arrived the bombs went off - At first I couldn't beleive it. Luckily we were not in any of the areas that were affected.
We felt fairly safe, until the announcement was made that there was the possibility of more attacks in Seminyak (where we were staying). Also that bombings were predicted to occur at the restaurant we had dinner in one night.
So we decided to come back early - A good decision I think - For peace of minds sake.
Thanks to Qantas for honouring our Garuda tickets to get us back early. It's good to be home.
It was a very sad and sometimes emotional time - talking to aussies over there that were affected - or nearly affected - There were lots of tears and phone calls back home.
Most of our intelligence came from Australia - The locals won't talk about it cause of course it hurts their economy so badly. The Balinese are such beautiful and peaceful people. I really feel sadness and empathy towards them. I don't think they will recover from this for quite a while.
It was my Borthday yeasterday - spent all day trying to get out - Frustrations in my party made it one of the worst Birthdays ever - But on the upside, we are all back in Sydney safe and sound.
It's surreal really - You can't imagine the feelings by just watching shit on TV like I did in 2002 - When you are there - it is very real.
The thing about it is - I don't understand the motives of the attacks in Bali - Mostly locals died - It will hurt the Bali economy but not the Indonesian economy. And just adds fuel to the fire on Extreme East versus West. Nothing it to be achieved by this behaviour.
My condolences to all that were killed and injured. My blessings to those who led us to safely
Cheers
