thanks heaps for that. so just remove the fuel rail are you saying or just leave them in the car to be flow tested?

u poor bastard, thought i saw ur car the other night but obviously not. What u doin this weekend? Would love to come check it out. Im doing a onevia conversion next week probably with a mate's 180 down the road. Car will look untidy for a while tho unfortunately as i don't have enough cash for a full paint job. Injectors: Well.... im kinda concerned that one of the injectors may be stuffed so i wanted to take them out to check over them and get them inspected as well as cleaned. Plug number 4 was very black today, and the others were fine so i think injector 4 needs replacing. The way the car is running it has become a definate that something must be sorted asap. Don't want to spend the money for a flush then find out it did nothing much. Can u give me any tips steve at all with removing the injectors. I want to get them flow tested also for when i start to run a bit more boost. Thanks Jayson

yeah that's pretty good. Front mount will come eventually, just want the car running right first. Probably get a gtr front mount, one that hasn't been stripped and polished so it isn't noticeable. Sparkies were cleaned today, still missed, replaced a coil, it did it the first two goes at putting my foot down, then stopped. Was running great till after i turned it back on from going to car lovers. Now it's back. I only gave it one squirt coming back from the car wash so im gonna take it out tonight and give it heaps once it's been driven for a while. My theory is that maybe one of the injectors is leaking and that's why it stops after a couple of boot fulls. At the car wash the car was on accessories for a while and the fuel pump was going. I'll take them out and have a look. any tips for taking injectors out anyone?

yeah i saw the front mount as well but a lot of turbo cars have them....... How much was ur hi flow? I've got an rb25 turbs on mine as mine packed it in less than a month ago and i didn't have much cash lying round. Im trying to get mine running right then slowly saving for a front mount and full 3" system before summer hits.

Quote: Thats me... ACU and your NAS-013 arent ya... Damn lying number plates my plates are SLO-31 hehe, yeah that's right. It goes well with the 'Q' (non turbo) badging. It used to be na when i first bought it. YEah i know where ur talking about, thanks. That price sounded pretty reasonable but i will have a look around anyway. What turbo do u have?? Ever since i walked past and saw what i thought was a hand controller in the car, i have been wary of it. Looks like it's got a bit of balls. This afternoon after uni im going down to a mate's import yard and cleaning the spark plugs. This is just a test first. Basically the sparkies (iridiums) have done 6000klms roughly. The o2 sensor was stuffed for that whole time so the car has been running rich. My theory is that the sparkies are fouled, if not, im ripping the injectors out and getting them cleaned. Then if that doesn't fix it well im back to square one. It's getting quite bad now too with a major loss in power.

i recently swapped my turbo over and it is a very easy process. Just take ur time and make sure u do everything back up and put it in the same place.
-
yeah my car was running rich a little while ago till i replaced the o2 sensor. It could possibly be fouled plugs i guess even though they are only 6000klms old. Skyrine dave, where abouts in kedron are they? Also, are u a uni student? The number plates remind me of r31 at my uni.

mine did this when it went. The wheel didn't have up and down movement at all but it did have back and forth movement.

Quote: Mase, when you say your turbo "went", did you eventually find out what was wrong with it? Did the turbine scrap against the housing? or the bearings started siezing? End Quote: Acediac when i took the turbo off to replace it, it had no up and down movement (well none that signified a buggered turbs)however, it did have a whole heap of back and forth movement. Im guessing this was the problem and it may have been rubbing on the housing. That's all i can tell you sorry. If u were in brissie u would be welcome to come check it out as i have it sitting in the garage still waiting for someone who wants to hi flow one or if i do. Jayson

sweet, thanks dan the man, was after some injector cleaning prices. Crank angle sensor u think duncan?? I will check it out.

Bit of help peeps, it's no longer intermittent. In high revs it has small misses. I cleaned the afm, pod, checked all connections and vacuum lines. Car is constantly run on optimax and has plugs and oil about 6000klms old. Even if u can throw me a few options, it means i can slowly rule them out. Much appreciated. Jase

here's an example, my rb20 turbo went recently, on minimum revs it would start whining (not spooling), it got to the stage that with any acceleration it would whine until it boosted up, wasn't too miuch of a noticeable difference in power but maybe a bit over time.
-
25 turbos don't have the nipple on the compressor housing tho. When i put the 25 turbo on my 20 i had to T piece another vacuum line.
-
yeah i found u really have to call around. Try aussie auto if they have them in SA, otherwise repco and coventry will be expensive. Conventry only dropped because i told them aussie auto's price.

The car had new fuel pump, filter, plugs, oil, oil filter, timing belt, etc about 5-6000 klms ago What's the MAF??? I've cleaned the afm a few times before.

I thought it was too good to be true to have my car running great for too long. Anyway on boost in 2nd upwards it is missing in the higher revs. It has only started to do it on this tank and it didn't do it last tank which had injector cleaner in it. I've since added a different brand tonight and have noticed a very slight difference. Also, within the first ten minutes of the car turning over in the morning it is hesitant. I've come to the conclusion my injectors need cleaning, does anybody agree or are there other ideas??? It's an rb20det with an rb25 turbo 10psi boost, no front mount, no exhaust, and the o2 sensor is brand spanking new if it's any consolation. This problem is sometimes intermittent as well. If this is the injectors, would it be worth cleaning them or replacing them and any ideas on prices and types of cleaning??? Well thanks for reading my essay!!!! Jayson

Thursday night at west end this old copper lady was rambling on how my mate needed a mod plate cuz he had a shift light and boost guage. I didn't comment cuz i knew they'd rip my car to shreds but it's so annoying how they can talk s4it and we just have to sit and listen. If she had of gotten picky about my guages i probably could of convinced her that my mod plate for the rb20 was for the guages but she left eventually.

Yes i know it looks close but it's just the photo angle. THere is at least 10-15cm's between them. I made sure they stayed clear by zip tying them back.

wld747, i got a ford el sensor and it was $85, that was the cheapest i could find unfortunately but still worth it. I thought i'd get off my butt and do something so i have taken a photo of the o2 sensor just for the people who want to see. No ragging my photography as the camera ain't much chop and i don't have much time to photoshop it.
-
After cruising last night im wrapped, i was originally getting 340 to a tank, i put the o2 sensor in with about 1/3 of a tank left, made the 400 mark. Can't wait to fill it up completely and get a klm reading on a full tank.
-
Big improvement off boost everyone!!! The ford one was $85 and there is nothing wrong with a bit of crimping!!
-
swwweeeet, i just put the rb20 wastegate on the rb25 turbo and it's running 0.7 bar. Replaced the o2 sensor as well and it's a different car!!!!!
-
well i'll still be faithfull to the rb!!!!! Mine is getting better and better as i sort all the bugs out.
-
is there any difference between the 32 and 33 ones besides the plug though? I have to try and work out which wire goes to which one. There are two black wires and one blue. This could take a while!!!!
