  3. If you don't mind me asking, why are you after a series 1 in particular? In other words, why not a series 1 or 2? Reason why i ask is because im also after a turbo off an rb25 and was curious to know the difference between them if there was any. Thanks Jayson

  6. well i went out to willowbank the other night and raced what looked to be a stock magna in my rb20det powered silvia. I have a turbo on the brink of extinction so i was silly for doing it but it didn't leave my tail end for the whole time and may of even gained but im not sure as i had to brake heavily nearing the end of the strip Needless to say, i was shocked, dissapointed in my car and left wondering how a magna could do so well against me. I guess they must have a bit of balls. My rb20det is completely stock ie no exhaust, stock boost, stock turbs.
  7. he tells me it's a factory t4, no alterations or anything. Im guessing that would mean that yes it's going to be laggy. Not having much luck with finding a rb25 turbo. Anything to look for in particular with these things??? Thanks

  10. I didn't think u will need a modified tailshaft as all the boxes tend to fit fine but i may be wrong.

Hey birty, what basically happend was I bought a bleed valve off the people who supplied my front cut, the bleed valve didn't work with my car and kept trying to go all the way to 1 bar but it hit fuel cut beforehand. Tried various testing and took it back to the mechanics and they found it did not work either with another turbosmart bleed valve. Since that session of testing it has been starting to whine on minimum revs until it starts to spool and then you can't hear it obviously because of the spooling. Birty, any info on this turbo for sale??? Thanks Jayson

  13. Any ideas on prices for them? I've had this rb20det in my silvia for under 3 months, the turbo is about to pack it in and the installation people don't want to know about it. I need an upgrade for less than a $1000 so i was thinking if the T4 was too laggy then a series 2 r33 turbo with the steal wheel would be an alright idea. I'll get some stats on the turbo tonight as the guy is giving me the info tonight. THanks heaps for the tips though!!! Cheers
  14. It appears my turbo is buggered after less than 3 months and the people i got the cut off don't want to know about it. Im after another one but due to it coming up all of a sudden im not financially ready so im after a small upgrade turbo probably like a series 2 r33 turbo. Basically anything that would be a decent upgrade for under a grand. I could of got a T4 for a decent price but i think it will be way too laggy for the 2L. So if you got anything email me on [email protected] or reply to this thread. Would prefer Brisbane/Coast people as i want to check the turbo out etc as im sure you all understand. thanks everyone Jayson
  15. I think my turbo is dying and i was offered a T4 for what i think was a reasonable price (new). Just a question though, is the T4 too laggy for the rb20det? Thanks
  16. I think i might try and get a front mount before summer hits, otherwise set up a water spray setup for the current one if the cash is low.
  17. I find if my car is sat to idle, say while im chatting to someone beside the car. As soon as i take off again the car goes a fair bit harder than normal. After a small while the car goes back to how it usually is. Does anybody else's rb20det do this? Otherwise, do you think maybe i have an over fuelling problem and when it sits at idle for a while it isn't over fueling much because im not accelerating so therefore when i take off it's not pre flooded??? This theory may be absolutely stupid but im just taking a guess at it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
  18. grrr, now i think my turbo is on the way out cuz it was trying to go all the way to 1 bar. Very frustrating.
  19. IT may have a 3" dump pipe on there but im not 100% sure, either way it goes straight into a stocko silvia exhaust after that. Where do i remove the stock boost solenoid??? 2nd gear onwards doesn't hold boost at all no matter where the bleed valve is adjusted to. Im just concerned that when i get an ebc it won't work either.

  21. nah as soon as the bleed valve is out it runs stock boost no problems at all. I've run new vacuum lines there too just to be sure. Still no difference. Im just concerned that when i buy an electronic boost controller that it may not work either.
  22. The problem isn't the fuel cut. The bleed valve was adjusted accordingly and no matter what it doesn't hold boost. I set both bleed valves to run at 0.7bar and each time no matter which way i turned the valve 1st gear would hold the boost level desired then 2nd gear onwards would try and go all the way to 1bar. Any ideas?
  23. I've fitted a couple of different bleed valves and each time it wants to hold close to the right boost in 1st, then every other gear tries to go all the way to 1bar before it hits the fuel cut. Anybody got any ideas as to what this is? Im concerned that if i get an electronic one it may not work also. Thanks
