Update On New Laws Regarding Lowering Cars
Jmaac replied to Jmaac's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Why cant an automotive engineer or similar write these type of laws? Even a little input would be good, politicians have no idea, what a joke. Anyway the article... Permission now needed to lower cars 16 July 2009 NEW laws making it an offence to raise or lower a car's suspension without proper approval is about saving lives, New South Wales Roads Minister Michael Daley says. From August 1, car owners will be limited to raising or lowering their suspension by no more than five centimetres, and all modifications will need approval from Roads and Traffic Authority engineers. Currently, a car can be raised or lowered by up to five centimetres without approval and by up to 15 centimetres with approval. Mr Daley says while drivers may think a lowered car looks "cool" it really is dangerous and any adjustment of more than five centimetres doesn't belong on the road. "I don't want to see young hoons putting their lives or the lives of others at risk, just because they think their car looks better 15 centimetres closer to the ground," Mr Daley said. "Raising or lowering a vehicle's height can put the driver, passengers and other road users at risk. "It can affect handling, braking and safety features such as electronic stability control." Any vehicle that is raised or lowered after August 1 will have to carry a certificate stating that the modifications confirm to safety standard requirements. -
Just to let you know from August 1st "car owners will be limited to raising or lowering their suspension by no more than five centimeters" and even this will require an approval certificate from an RTA engineer saying it meets safety standards Currently you dont need approval upto 5cm and can go upto 15cm with proper approval

blocked radiator, or blown head gasket

borrow an electric impact gun, <1sec
-
+1 wrecked two dead ones trying to get them apart How did you seperate it? heatgun/oven?

The airbag light should be flashing if it finds a fault. If you've replaced all the right components and the ecu has been reset since being repaired (i.e. battery going flat ) it should be ok. Just make sure it lights up when you start your car and goes off. At impact probably the same if not 70, although the car up front of me was moving so the G's probably werent as high

check ic piping, vaccum hoses, wastegates etc.

+1 for a headgasket. nissan sohc heads are fine, they do not crack because they're made of a 'cheaper' material-they're all made from the same standard grade, its its all about process, both before the casting is made and operating conditions after. Anyway as above, the heads would only warp/crack if the cooling system wasnt bled correctly (most people either still dont know they have to do this or still cant do it correctly (2 top bleeders)) Genuine Nissan headgaskets are the best to go by in my book, even Supercheap ones are up to the task. I wouldnt try lowering the compression... as far as I recall the rb30et compression ratio is already pretty low at 7.8:1. Skim the head, and gain some response unless you want to run huge boost.

I think theyre a series of LED's (like the S2). Usually water/moisture gets in there and blows a resistor or two. Try seperating the lens and backing plate from each other to repair. Someone on here will have a 2nd hand one in the for sale section if you cant find one. You can get an a/market cheapy just to get you through the RWC from supercheap/autobahn. They use double sided tape and stick to the underside of the old one... wires in the same. Ive got one here if you need

Cant have a CF bonnet, needs to crumple and absorb padestrian impact etc. Do a search, but most states will let you have one intake mod (enclosed pod/fastened pod or IC) What speed did you have the accident? I did heaps more damage about 12 months ago but my airbags didnt let go

Lever out the mirror, cut your own piece using the plastic backing plate as a template, remove old glass and glue new piece back on. Replace circlip and 'pop' back in
-
your car will go bang at 100% duty, aim for 85-90%
-
I think theres a tutorial somewhere on here, should be the same as most cars Open boot from inside the car, ply trim away from bootlid around lock area and disconnect everything. There should be a circlip holding the lock to the boot. Slide it out and the lock should just fall from the boot. One or two screws hold the locking barrel to the lock, from there remove and go crazy Hope it helps

Turn On The Air Con And Car Almost Stalls - R33 Gtr

poor earth or IAC? -
Dry test, same as above but start the car first and pull the fuel pump/efi fuse, car should idle out When cranking the car make sure your at WOT otherwise you'll need to crank it longer to get a stable reading If no good, do a Wet test which is the same, but add a tablespoon of oil to each cylinder

Doesnt the screen display digital gauges anyway? OMG101 Time to plug in the playstation

remachine the surfaces flat. use bigger washers to distribute the load more or weld gussets in to strengthen the flange. bolt it all together before fixing to the block (use a torque wrench). if need be elongate the holes slightly on the exhaust manifold (engine side) which will allow it to locate better and prevent any further cracking/warping caused by expansion and contraction. alternatively cut off the flanges, bolt to the block and weld a hard pipe in

You can do it yourself, its just replacing a battery terminal. Supercheap have them for about 10$ or so (cant remember exactly what they're called but they allow you to disconnect the battery for working on the car without having to remove terminals) Take your battery to supercheap they can test the battery condition also for you (they test all stock going out). You'll find its probably ok and just a wiring fault
-
check the circuit for a poor earth (leak) or get a battery terminal switch
-
+1 plc or you could just build the whole thing with relays

Sounds like part of an aftermarket alarm system. Hasnt happened in any Skylines i've been in/owned. Some american cars do this, antihijack

Gtr Drive Problems

+1 rooted clutches in transfer case. They pulled the fuse before putting it on a 2wd dyno without bleeding pressure off to the transfer case (or mech. disconnecting it). Difference in steering may be because they didnt plug the speed sensor back in, Hicas uses it. -
Interior Diagrams To Pull All The Dash And Everythink Out

do a search in the tutorial section, theres photos in there -
should have the marks on it already, compare against the original. sound like it may be incorrectly tensioned i.e. one side more than the other. a quick rotation of the engine will even the belt tension out. if its skipping two teeth, go back two, rotate and recheck
