  1. hey mate, ive had 2 vl's and there both great on fuel economy. i use one for a work car now which also has gas so even better. only once you start putting your foot down when not needed you will chew up a fair bit like any car really. but drive like a grandma and it will get you far. im speaking from VL rb30e engines so my guess is the r31 rb30e wouldnt be too far off.
  2. my opinion but the bug-eye rex is the ugliest thing on the road, no matter how good they go or sound. if you were looking at a wrx id definatly go for the MY03-MY05 model. toughest looking yet. what about a 99 sti coupe.
  3. i was wondering if this was a common problem and if there ok to still use or should i start looking for another set? just stripped the paint back getting ready for a polish and found near the back of the covers there are what look like fine cracks coming from the top oil breather hoses?.
  4. now thats real nice. how much did it cost to get the rocker covers chromed??
  5. well if someone is interested in just the head itself i would be keen on the intake setup and wiring and maybe the spark cover??
  6. been searching high and low for dirgrams for making one of these up myself but cant find anything. tried alot of wreckers in brisbane and no one seems to even have any rb26 bits. if anyone knows what im talking about could really use some help. i bascially need a full wiring harness for my project, its a r32 gtr head on a rb30 block. guessing the harness should still be the same if it was on a 2.6 litre block (not sure though im new to rb's). any help??
  7. nice engine bay mate. polished covers all the way! wow, that polishing guide link is a good help might do this to my 26 covers as its just sitting there with no engine to go on yet.
  8. lol, guess your not splitting it then. im happy with that, actually think they look better with polished cam/gear covers and no spark plug cover at all. but wouldnt mind one just for parts. ill keep trying thanks anyway.

  10. what is a bare rb26 head worth, considering its in good working order? i've got some rb30 blocks lying around and would like to make this engine combination up as its sounds to be the way to go these days.

  12. thanks linedup33, do the timing covers fit on the rb30/26 i ask becuase ive seen a couple of these combos but none have the timing cover on for some reason? shanef - also i am still slowly getting through this thread and i cant find the pdf u are referring to but i am still looking, thanks.
  13. hey guys, go easy on me im a newby here. ok first post. Is doing the rb30/25-26 conversion the best RB combo. I can see how the extra capacity helps and that it might be an advantage for an rb25, but is it worth doing this to an rb26 engine. i would have thought that having a rb26 block & head would be better considering they came out on the gt-r, and if they wernt that special then wy didnt they make them a 3 litre block form the begining. What i am trying to get at here is, would it be better having a RB26 complete block and head or a RB30/25/26 combo?? sorry for the question but its puzzled me for a while now to the point where i actually joined the forum and am asking this lol, also has anyone got any pics of there setups i wouldnt mind seeing some. cheers.
