  1. A strut brace is not really a suspension component. If you are having understeer issues a strut brace is not going to fix it. Sure they have their place and they make suspension more tunable when you are trying to find that extra bees dick of perfomance but you will not notice the difference on a car with stock suspension. Like someone said, you could get a thicker rear swaybar but I would be looking towards your front end and improving grip. Maybe some adjustable upper arms for a little camber may be enough and that's cheap.
  2. If you can tell the difference with a relatively stock car when you add a rear strut brace then you're probably going as fast as possible already. Don't waste your money. Keep your eye out for some used semis, that's what I do and you get them for a fraction of the cost. People will tell you that they're nowhere near as good and blah blah but they're still better than most streets and will last much longer than streets when being driven in anger. Save your money for the coilovers (DO NOT buy second hand - I've seen that many stuffed used ones), get some used semi's and you will be paddocks quicker. PS the driver training day will always be money well spent. You'll get faster and safer. I think we all could use a lesson.
  3. Your long wang time would have been better if you didn't try and stop at the finishe line
  4. Nominating myself. Would like to get more involved with the club and believe I can make a positive contribution. Dave
  5. Sorry I missed this for so long Dan. Yeah the BA tows no worries. At a guess I'd say my Datto would be ~200kg lighter than the S13 but that's stuff all really. I've only got the 1600kg tow bar as well. I give the towbar and associated bits a once over ever time a use it which I know you'd do anyway. You just need to give some thought how you position the car on the trailer, the trailer can pretty much take the entire weight of the car if you balance it right in the middle but they tend to tow better if you put a bit more weight on the back of the tow car. Towing cars is stressful business, you spend your entire trip checking mirrors and trailer tyres or loose tie downs etc. You'll be fine though.
  6. That can't be right. He must have the time on is computer set 4 hours fast.
  7. Heh I must be seeing things then Dan! It's got plenty of poke then for a standard turbo and not much boost. I was only crawling past you in a straight line with my slightly bigger turbo and couple of hundred less kg's!
  8. Yeah and doug and myself both have about double his power so still correct. Apparently he was running 6 degrees of camber The coolest part was that he hadn't even widened the body with flares or anything, just had some 13 inch rims with some sticky rubber.
  9. Hey Crossy stick Rob and I down as Long wang finishers/timers.
  10. Is it just me or are the mods and committee members getting a hard time of late? Particularly when this thread was started by a mod trying to help?
  11. This is the real one, and frankly, I can see why the non-GTR drivers are so upset
  12. Would this help?
  13. I've got some pics of that horrible pink renualt on the last page somewhere as well. I'll have to dig them up, it's got all these little fake adjustable linkages all over the body kit as though it's all adjustable! HA
  14. There's some sweet photos in there and they are all a good size and not badged through the center! I like this one Russ, Are you doing a front wheel drive burnout??

    Kebabs

I had one more recently and it was great. It took a while because they put it in the sandwich press for a while so it definitely wasn't cold! Give them another go, you'll be pleasantly suprised.
  16. I believe the next logical step is to go door to door racing. Sell the GTR and buy a budget IPRA car........maybe a gemini? get back to your roots!
  17. All good advice Paul but I don't think your standard computer actually does much communicating with your gearbox computer in stock form. What does the engine ECU actually send/recieve from the gbox ecu that an aftermarket, say Powerfc, wont' do? The only thing I can think of is perhaps closed loop running at idle and cruise. My experience is with the more basic autos but perhaps with the tiptronic stuff it's different?
  18. Great shots Sarah! You always produce some pearlers
  19. Love your work Rialto, I vote you never buy another car and just take photos
  20. Apparently it's not all about Long Wangs ay Russ? I thought you had me stitched up for sure this time! Congrats to the weeners too, especially chris and Ryan for touching up the porkers
  21. That was quick? I guess Thomson must have won then......
  22. Haha! It doesn't look nearly has bad in the video as it felt driving the thing!
  23. Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers. Also a big thanks to all photographers, I think all will agree that getting photos/video's after the event of your car is one of the most exciting parts of the experience since we never get to see ourselves from the outside. I lost my nerve in a big way after nearly tipping the car over in a place that you shouldn't be able to roll a car and will contribute that to being a couple of seconds off the pace on the wangs but I know frysie and Russ won't take any excuses! I really enjoyed watching nick thrash his new GTR until it carked it (I hope it's not that bad mate) as well as Tim in the silver machine. It's also a pleasure to watch Chris/Ryan going out time and again throwing down clean runs. Did you guys end up deciding who's car you're going to both drive to finally settle who's the better peddler? Dave
  24. Just got finished now! I'm gonna struggle tomorrow at work. See you all up there!
  25. Had a bit of a heart flutter this morning when I realised it was Thursday already! Car hasn't been run since Phillip island, brakes aren't bled, haven't finished bolting in cage let along padding it, have to put interior back in, have to fix water leak coming from somewhere around inlet manifold! I better go through the bottle-o on the way home, it's gonna be a late one in the garage! The misses offered to give me a hand, she'll have to be beer wench?
