The Ultimate Gt3540 Powered Street Rb30?
juggernaut1 replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What a coincidence....a member on NS is using the same supercharger and same turbo setup on an SR with a VVL head (two cam profiles and can't throw rockers) which he started back in November http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...t=0&start=0 -

No semi slicks.... .....and based on your comments of instaneous boost......I'd say....twin scroll and also judging by the shape of the curve i.e. virtually no discernable difference in the curve between boost and off boost and linear power delivery over a broad rev range. -
Heat management is still work in progress. You can touch the beanie with the engine going - its about 25mm thick and a little thinner on the sides. Didn't measure temps but my hand tells me its a lot better.
-
I started a thread on whether the beanie was worthwhile a little while ago as my engine bay temps were still quite warm after I ceramic coated everything. I now have a beanie which i picked up online from HPinabox - highly recommended and highly effective and one of the better quality ones I've see and perfect fit to boot. Here's the link to my thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tu...ts-t260243.html .....and here's one I've already prepared........

Now I know I shouldn't take everything I read on NS.com as gospel .....but I lifted this comment from a recent thread post "I spoke with a guy at the Mawson Lakes servo, he said the letter the government sent them stated that the government has now classed E85 as a race fuel and dont want young people running their cars on it and getting more power from it, so they banned it from retail sales across Australia. He told me if I go to the servo, he will happily show me the letter he was sent." What does this all mean ........I know go back to my opening comment. Anyone shed any light on this..... PS I think Mawson Lakes is in SA......but I was never good at Geography. -

Yes it was PJ 10.7 sec qtrs and 134 mph with a HKS 3037 running 19 psi is pretty much unheard of.....funny thing is he doesn't reckon it has reached its full potential yet. I think he's looking to try a bigger ex A/R. -

I find your comments interesting how you believe you've maxed your 3076 at 348 RWKW's. Was PM'ing a member on NS and he has a HKS 3037 56 trim comp and .73 rear on 6Boost on his SR with screamer and 3.5 inch exhaust and HKS 264/272 cams. He made 342 rwks with 24 psi initially but dropping to 22 psi with E85 which I understand was also on the JEM dyno. So it seems E85 and the 3076/3037 maxes out around 340 - 350 rwks on decent setups regardless of the engine (SR or RB) confirming your comments that it is the turbo that is maxing out around this hp level on E85. -

Rb26 Greddy Plenum Vs Stock Plenum
juggernaut1 replied to im late's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Actually the big single is a very crisp and bordering on twitchy at light load/low rpm throttle apps....and yes it did take a bit of time to tune for drivability in this area of the map. However, a larger pulley wheel could be made to slow the opening rate of the larger throttle butterfly down if it couldn't be tuned out. -
Rb26 Greddy Plenum Vs Stock Plenum
juggernaut1 replied to im late's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Something to ponder......I wonder whether the extra response of the multi t/b setups might be from having a greater overall blade surface area compared to the single t/b setups. My stock s15 had a smallish 50mm t/b then I bolted on the n/a t/b which was 60mm - it felt more responsive especially off boost. Then I did a built motor and Hypertune intake with theri 76 mm t/b setup and it also feels surprisingly responsive. Is it the larger throttle blade area creating a larger opening for a given throttle movement be creating the phenomenum of response......which is why multi t/b plenums feel more responsive as they probably have a greater overall combined throttle blade area than a smallish single t/b. -
I agree with Lithium....the 2876 has a big ass comp wheel being spun by a relatively pissy exhaust wheel.....its a mismatch of a turbo IMHO.

I've used one of those gaskets on my SR and no prob's. But I used the stock gasket btn the Gizzmo and the head, and used your average silicon sealant btn the manifold runners and the Gizzmo. -

Some data I came accross recently regarding the Ballistic Cats http://www.surefloexhaust.com.au/frame1600x1200.htm: Summary info from the above URL - as you'll see the 5 inch body seems to be the way to go r. Measurements: - 5” cat with 3” ends - 706cfm 5” cat with 3.5” ends - 885cfm 5” cat with 4” ends - 1015cfm [/i]We tested the “Magic Cat” and “Metal Cat” using their own 3” fittings welded to each end and compared the flow with our Ballistic Cat with 3” pipework welded to the ends and here are the results: Magic Cat 4” body with 3” ends - 546.6cfm <LI>Metal Cat 4” body with 3” ends - 629.6cfm <LI>Ballistic Cat 5” body with 3” ends - 706.2cfm There are some rubbery figures going around. Magic advertise the flow of their 4” cat as 750cfm and their new 5” cat as 890cfm. These tests are obviously done with no ends on the catalytic converter. So if you compare the 5” cat from Magic @ 890cfm against our 5” Cat with 4” ends @ 1015cfm it shows ours flows 125cfm or 14% extra. This is extra performance. This cat is also available as a “Bolt-On” replacement unit for Nissan R32, R33, GTR, GTST, GTiR Pulsar, 180SX and S13 Silvia. So assuming your running 3" in/out on your metal cat - it is flowing 629.6 cfm..........................compared to a 5" body Balistic cat with 3.5" in/out would be 885 cfm (or 1015 cfm if you went 4" in/out) -

I understand Ricky from Billet Turbos fame makes divided manifolds on a request basis (under the guise of Fantasy Manifolds) and has been doing so for quite a number of years apparently. Also I spoke to Kyle at 6Boost about the prospect of making a divided manifold before I bought the Full-Race mani. I only went with Full-Race because the $A was $0.96 at the time (so the the price of the kit was half reasonable) and that it came as a complete kit i.e. I didn't have to separately source the divided ex housing (which I guess could have ordered through ATP) and down pipe (could have been custom made), v-band flanges, twin gates etc. Also Kyle had suggested to use the dual gates for true twin scroll on the SR setup even before Full-Race had started making them. -

The comment about timing in the thread link mimic's what my tuner found also - that he was able to add more timing - scarily so - but backed it off to a level where he felt 'comfortable'. -

Mine is the Garrett TS GT32 rear housing as available from ATP. This housing can also be used for the GT35 although bored out to suit the bigger wheel as available from ATP. http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=BCS Stre8e180, on this forum, used the GT35 with T3 .78 rear on his RB26 and made nearly 400 rwkw but struck some fueling issues. I've also been watching another build nearing completion of a Full-Race Dual Gate TS GT35 with T4 1.06 rear on a standard stroke SR - will be interesting to see the results of this. http://www.freshalloy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186058 However, I wonder if E85 became commercially available whether to some extent TS will become redundant as the additional timing allowed with E85 will make single scroll housings that much better. Alternatively, twin scroll and E85 may be just better again if this thread is anything to go by.......this setup used race fuel in his SR20 with T3 TS .78 3076 using 31 psi, which was reportedly reached by 3800 rpm and made 489 ft/lb torque and 573 hp on a dynojet. OK discount those figures by around say 20% and an estimated 460 dyno dynamics rwhp from stock stroke SR20 with full boost by 3800 rpm isn't shabby. http://www.freshalloy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190508 . -
I bought the Tial V-bands flanges and Tial clamps from GCG. Ordered them one day - delivered to Perth the next. From memory cost of lathing up two stainless flanges was approx $50 - $60.
-
Re the male/female bit - the Tial v-band flange has a recess in it - this lines up with the boss from the gate - so you have a positive positioning of the v-band flange to the gate and are not relying solely on the clamp to hold everything into position. So if you only buy the Tial flanges you will end up with two flanges with the recess. Thats why I then had 2 v-bands made up with the boss - you can see the raised inner 'male' boss in the pictures of the dump tubes. The other alternative I considered was to have a ring lathed up - the ring could sit in between the 'female' recesses of the Tial v-bands and lock the two flanges together and the whole assembly would be held together with the clamp. I may have a couple of new Tial flanges (to suit the 44 mm gates left over) if anyone is interested - I would need to double check. You would need to get a couple of "male" flanges lathed up tho. Embleton Engineering in Perth did mine. The flexes for the dump tubes I got from Genie Exhausts in Myaree in Perth. I didn't use one for the dump as I though the v-band off the turbo may allow for some sideways movement anyway - it hasn't cracked however I do use a brace across to the gearbox to support the lower part of the dump.

My Sr20 Build - Twin Scroll 3071
juggernaut1 replied to juggernaut1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Not cheap - from memory plenum was just under $2K, plus their 76mm throttle body around $630, plus their fuel rail. Hi Octane sells their gear so you could check out the current prices on thier website. Not sure whether they make one for the s13 at the moment(I assume this is the high port SR). I have the low port SR. However, I have spoken to the guys at Hypertune on behalf of somebody else and they indicated they would build a custom one for the high port motor. -
