  1. Hi everybody, I bought my gtst with all the basic mods and its power fc which was tuned for 100 octane petrol. The previous owner says it was tuned on a shell petrol which didnt have ethanol in it (not V-power racing which i dont like as its 20c more), so my question is since if run i it on 98 octane is there something i should adjust on my hand controller to accomodate to the lower octane petrol? Thanks!
  2. The factory kw rating is usually at the flywheel of the transmission not the wheels. Transferring power from the flywheel to the wheels takes some of the engines power because it has to move the gears then the drive shaft then the axles. For example the standard kw rating for a R33 Gtst is 183 kw but on my 33 which has all the supporting basic mods makes 181 kw *at the wheels*.
  3. Hey all, my current turbosmart bov has an adaptor plate on it for the stock hole and its glued on by some really tough glue. I want to remove the adaptor plate so I can put my new bov on which doesn't require a plate. How can I loosen the plate without getting liquid on my coilovers? Thanks!
  4. Has anyone done this and noticed a difference in driving? More response and/or power?
  5. When police here the tschhh they come hunting. Get an after market one, its a novelty everyone wants at first. Keep your stock one in case you want to go silent again or buy an adjustable one.
  6. Awesome, i've got mates coming over with a soldering iron. Should have it back up and running soon! Thank you everyone on SAU!!
  7. Since this unit needs to be pulled apart and re soldered maybe this is a good opportunity to buy a Z32 AFM? Is a retune required after installation?
  8. Does the AFM come apart?
  9. lol Whoops So do I resolder the pins to anywhere in the plug?
  10. Slide gave me an English manual. Go Slide! index.pdf
  11. Sorry bad phone camera
  12. Ok played around with a friend and determined that the ecu is still receiving voltage from touching it with fingers (human electricity????). Fiddled some more and fitted the plug in the AFM and received some voltage! Only .25 volts though and this wasn't enough to get the engine running. I reckon the pins on the plug have bent or the AFM receiver isn't conducting well.
  13. Check your intake pipes, something similar happened to me and my intercooler piping had come off.
  14. I didn't actually clean the entire AFM, I brushed the intake side off. The plug is a weird looking one, it sorta sits and you screw it in and there are 3 pins the come from the cable to the AFM.
  15. I have a turbosmart one and its really loud! Lots of fluttering and spitting whether its wound up or not. I've bought a GFB Stealth FX going to see how that goes.
  16. Hi, I decided to pull my pod off and clean it a little then thought i should take my AFM and clean that a little too. I unplugged the cable on the side to remove the meter and put it all back together, then my car wouldnt start! It ignites and for a about a second it runs then just dies. My sensor sw/check on the power fc says the AFM has no voltage, sometimes it increases by .01 v but nothing more. So I pulled it apart checked it all and put it back together, no difference. Again, put the plug upside down and no difference. I really hope i haven't fried my AFM! Woops double post sorry!

  18. only a little bit of white is ok, my friend has an old prelude and so much coolant leaks into the combustion chamber and it spews clouds of white smoke.
  19. To install the lock kit do you have to raise the two rear wheels off the ground?
  20. On the topic of turbo upgrades, i would like a gtrs turbo but im not to sure if i need a z32 afm. Is it absolutely essential for that sort of power range?
  21. mmm my exhaust sensor wire got cut a while ago, the light in the dash came up and the check engine light eventually came up too. I've heard it doesnt affect anything but the lights in the dash annoy me and i want to get it fixed. I'm hoping i just need the wires soldered together.
  22. Your probably right, but getting upset about it and pointing fingers isn't going to solve anything.
  23. lol this is pretty funny, since its on a car forum. Johnny your personal problems are not funny but this isnt the place to talk about them and you cant expect people you have never met to be understanding. This forum is for sharing ideas and knowledge of skylines, so if someone makes fun of your ideas or doesn't agree with them its up to you whether you want to listen to them or not.
  24. Read your profec instruction manual, then go to a quiet bit of road somewhere with a friend and play with settings. Since its a stock 33 turbo 12 psi is an appropriate amount of boost. On mine i do set to 50% gain to 20 and set gain to 12 and that gets about 12 psi. Just as long as you notice when you go over 12 or so psi and de tune to less pressure so you don't hurt your turbo.
