First Try At Makein A Fibre Glass Air Box
GTR-32U replied to jimme85's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Not a bad job at all...!!! Good choice with the pod filter also...Its the only one I really like -
10k is not too bad...! Thats if its done properly, machined to good tolerances etc. Many builders take many shortcuts.I would go the external oil pump even over the N1. Yes N1 is a better design but it still isnt flawless. If ya think 10 k is pricey..jump on to Tomei's webpage and see how much they sell crate motors for...Ridiculous...you can buy a neat GTR for the same money

make sure all the wheels/tyres are exactly the same size.I had this problem in a GTS4 I had.It would pick up a small vibration and torque guage would start flickering slightly.Standard wheels back on problem solved

tried just jap at kirrawee? I had southcoast suspensions put a new rack in mine.I think it may have come from just jap as they are only around the corner

Is There Such Thing As A Bassy 6.5inch Speaker
GTR-32U replied to LatinR33's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Boston Pro's in the doors.THen I would put one 10 inch Boston Pro in the boot.Bostons really dont require a large enclosure.I was told they can be installed in like 1.5 cubic feet enclosure...? A good quality installer can make, install a box and trim it so it looks like it was designed there by factory and still have heaps of bootspace. As for fitting 2 subs..? What for ? these days subs handle so much power...one is all you need.I believe the Boston PRo 10 and 12 can handle in excess of 1000 watts...?? More than you will ever need -
funny you should bring this up but some time ago I was after one too, and I ran into all those arguments also. What people dont realise is that what happens on the dyno doesnt neccessarily happen on the street.I used to own an R32 GTS4 with aftermarket turbo. However RB20's are laggy. My theory was that putting the throttle body on the front in would allow the intercooler piping to be reduced by about a metre. So if you think about it thats one whole metre of pipe that doesnt need to be pressurised. So my theory was that response would pick up immensely, more noticable in the lower gears.First gear particularly. However as Dyno pulls are done in 4th Gear where lag and response isnt measured I felt I had a valid point.I have seen somebody who had the throttle body on the front edge of the factory manifold..( best of both worlds )..but I couldnt see that being cheap. Anybody got any opinions ?

Is There Such Thing As A Bassy 6.5inch Speaker

Boston Accoustics Pro series....Not cheap but can handle a lot ! Top quality stuff.I watched oneday in store as a sales rep put a 12 inch sub on the floor facing up.He then put one foot on the cone of the sub...And then stood on it ! With shoes on...They really are a tough woofer...! -
when I bought my Skyline I knew the HKS turbo was on its way out so I got it a little cheaper. However that turbo lasted almost 2 yrs before the telltale waft of smoke while sitting at the lights.I had it fully rebuilt for just under a grand..ran beautiful...Just make sure oil changes are regular and you will have years of trouble free motoring.Dont believe all that crap that you have been told

Now if only some genius would design a sunshade/reflector for your windscreen like that....Million$ business opportunity

The Myth Surrounding High Octane Petrol!
GTR-32U replied to Spunky Munky's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
seriously I think they should get rid of 91 RON fuel completely and replace it with 95RON as regular unleaded. As most manufacturers have discovered there is superior power-economy and cleaner emissions running high comp and advance curves.91RON just limits things -
I would try and have a go at it myself first if I were you.Start from one end and work your way back to the other. You said they worked fine prior to engine conversion.I am assuming that there may be a harness plug thats not plugged in.Try the fuses first.sometimes the switches in the instrument surrounding get a little dicky at times.
-
yeah I had an R32 GTS4 for a while with a 2510 on it.I know just how gutless they are till they get on boost. Its pathetic, little corollas run off the lights quicker...till the boost comes..Seriously though I would save my cash and get an RB25 out of a stagea...it bolts straight in and that extra capacity is there when you need it most. You will never get low down torque from an RB20
-
I had a kill switch mounted wired from that....I agree...it didnt go anywhere...Also running another kill switch off the fuel pump is good too.I do know that you can buy another kind of club style lock but it goes onto the pedals so they cannot be pressed...but i dont know who makes it...anybody ? ...I also had in my skyline. ( came with the car ) a security feature where a certain screw or metal object had to be touched at the same time of turning the keys otherwise alarms would sound and engine immobilised...I would love to know who makes that one...it was awesome !! anybody know who they are ?? I want another one soon
-
definately sounds dodgy,How can he say he wants the car when he hasnt even had a chance to see it or hear it running ?? I know when I bought the GTS4 I had I met the guy in the main street of newtown.I knew he lived close but...who cares where he lived. Why is it so important for him to see where you live. Be very careful when selling, as they get to see all your cars goodies...If I had a dollar for every ridiculous question I had when I sold my car...A guy wanting to swap his Supercharged MR2 for it ( as if )...others just wanted to know how hard it went...etc
-
hey I like your idea very much.Sure they look good in magazines mounted upside down but I have always wondered how they are changed without making a mess..Any chance of putting any pictures up ?
-
dude...I am glad that I am not doing your oil changes....In every oil filter change I have ever done its always been done with one hand only. There is no need to lock them up that tight.Using two hands to tighten up is a bit too much ...but using a wrench to tighten it???? first time I have ever heard of anyone doing this.

Granville Tuner Matter Resolved. Thanks For All Your Support
GTR-32U replied to Dominic's topic in New South Wales
12k for a skyline is great.I am assuming its a race only import.Beats spending all the extra for a road going version if you only intend on hitting the track -
checked the fuel filter ? Has this been happening for some time ? Didnt score a bad tank of fuel by any chance ?...servos are pretty dodgy

Hey any chance you can PM me the name as well ??? I live in your area so I am a little concerned..thnx -
what area are you in ?

I used to work in sweden for a short time, Done up volvos are getting around there making some serious power figures.those later ones dont look too bad with decent paint and rims.I can remember watching the EURO touring car championship a few years ago when a volvo wagon was demolishing M3s on the tracks over there..crazy stuff
-
what caused that ding ?? is it possible that maybe the piping itself may have developed a crack thus blowing boost out to atmoshere..I would start with all the silicon hose fittings first and then look into that ding area
-
dude if your gonna upgrade then I would go a 2530 or 2510...maybe something from trust. The R33 turbo is an improvement over the RB20 as it has a larger wastegate..but its still ceramic...I had a 2510 on my RB20 and it ran beautiful at 16 pounds..If you are gonna go to all the trouble of changing dump pipes then while you are there change all the water and oil lines with brand new ones. They are a nasty thing to change at the best of times, specially that water hose around the back of the engine, we had to drop the starter motor to get to that one...
-
mate I reckon you got yourself a pretty good deal...!! I have seen some really neglected, trashed and thrashed R33 going for a lot more..Yours looks pretty tidy and looked after..well done...I only hope that when I go to buy an R32 GTR early next year its as good as that one...well done
