  1. no actually they do use it for a reason. it paints a more vivid image in a persons mind knowing they were driving what is considered a "sports" car. especially one so widley painted as a young hoons car as a skyline. otherwise they wouldnt mention it. its typical of any descriptive/reporting style writing... and you obviously havent listened to much AM talkback radio have you? There are copious amounts of people 45 and over who have nothing better to do then listen or read about shit like this and have a whinge because they have nothing better to do while their kids are at school.
  2. 2.5k just to install all my audio shit into the elgrand
  3. hahaha ive been called Pilapeno, Indian, Fijian, Mexican, Samoan, Tongan and Arab before... but never cambodian
  4. hahaha yeah fair enough
  5. i never do OT... i hate doing normal working hours let alone come in when i dont have to. actually at the moment i think im actually -2 hours lol id rather be at home with the wife and kids.
  6. lol 200+ hours OT! f*k that... how would you have any time to do anything other then work and sleep.
  7. If your going to make a serious one, this is the case i was looking at... LUXA2 LM300 Touch Pro HTPC Case. Probably one of the best cases on the market for HTPCs. LUXA is a subdivision of Thermaltake so its not some yumcha brand and has some awesome features. If you can get your hands on one, the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 is probably one of the better TV cards around. And a full HD sound card like the ASUS Sonar HDAV 1.3 Deluxe. Also make sure you use some quality RAM... none of this MSY special shite. Something like the Coarsair Dominator GT kits etc
  8. When you say, HTPC, do you simply mean a PC which you will use as a media hub? What some people consider an HTPC these days is generally lacking in HT ie. just make a cheap PC with a TV Tuner card and call it an HTPC. Bit like how i refer to my PC as a file server, its hardly a real file server, its just a PC with RAID and lots of SATA ports. Personally i dont see the point in HTPCs. You may as well just use a normal PC and connect it to your HT system like mine already is. I was going to build one last year with the top of the range parts, but realised how much of a waste of time it was. My TV will be connected to my fileserver directly as a monitor as well as networked so that wont be an issue. I prefer to use a remote vs using a mouse and keyboard however so i will only use it as a monitor if i have no other choice.
  9. Why would u flash it to use ethernet via a storage drive when it has an ethernet port and wireless capabilities to stream media from a network? Theres no way im bothering to use a USB key or drive. Thats the reason i built a file server with 9 HDDs. So if it can read the HD files without an issue from the TV, i will just connect it via the ethernet to my file server or if its easier, just use the samsung wireless.
  10. yawn... ive been in this country for over 14 years... the sheep jokes just get better and better, its pretty much the simplest way for aussies to put together a coherent sentence. just like they never get sick of convict and kangaroo jokes... ie. why do aussies hunt kangaroos? cause skippy talks... yeah im fresh off the boat alright, but my boat didn't have iron bars for windows and doors like yours... etc etc all in all they're not too bad though.
  11. ze paratrooping germanz!!! jump out over the showgrounds... kill 2 birds with one stone.
  12. Hmmmm... the guys down there have some funny ideas with a lot of things. If its illegal to have rear facing seats then why do buses? My father in law went to talk to one of them about elgrands and mentioned we bought one from QLD and they were swearing to him that i wouldnt be able to register it in VIC at all... especially not as an 8 seater (which it is). The main thing to check is on the compliance plate (Pink for used imports, Green for Private imports) is how many seats it is complianced for... if it is less then 7 or 8 (depending on the model) then it will need a "MOD plate" which is basically an engineering cert to say it can seat x amount of seats. If it has those 2 things then it can be registered in any state. The only thing i could see being an issue in having it rear facing with a child capsule is where the anchor point would go. You would need to speak to a workshop about it to clarify if it can be done or not. I have to take ours to get some extra anchor points put in so I will ask about getting them just behind the front seats. It will all depend on whats under the floor pan i suppose. We drive around with the middle row facing the rear all the time. I highly doubt it would be illegal. You would be pretty unlucky to be pulled over by a police officer purely because you have your seats facing the rear, especially considering they have seat belts. I have searched the VICROADS site up and down and there is nothing saying you cannot do it. We looked at Klugers and were seriously dissapointed with the size and functionality of it in comparison to the Elgrand. I wouldnt get too turned off the Elgrand yet... unless you cant find one in the country which suits you.
  13. hmmmm... mine will be hooked up to a PS3 or 360 so fitting to the screen wont be an issue. Most of the movies and tv shows i have are either 720 or 1080p anyway. still doesnt seem to be worth the risk. yeah my aunty was a head chef for many years... she worked some very long hours... was crazy. She was crazy too lol like most chefs i suppose sounds about right... pretty sure his normal take home would be in the 3.5 - 4k range. We work 37.5 hour weeks.
  14. whats the most OT anyones done in a pay cycle (monthly).... one of the guys in my team last pay cycle did 102 hours OT... thats double time OT... so 204 hours standard pay... thats f*kin nuts! think the most i ever bothered to do was about 40 a month. He must have got a fortune last month. He paid over 3k in tax
  15. FYI - you can no longer (for the past 2 months or more) import an Elgrand under SEVS and legally register it in any state or territory of Australia as anything higher then a 3 (possibly 4) seater. You can thank DOTARS for that. I would be VERY selective from which place you buy an Elgrand from, especially when it is concerning interstate. What is easily registerable in QLD, NSW, SA etc may be a lot more difficult to register in VIC. If you havent already found it Suzie, go here http://www.nissanelgrand.com.au/forum/ and have a read. I recently purchased an E50 from QLD which was registered as a 2 seater caravan. Before it was sent down it had to be reregistered as an 8 seater for me to be able to register it down here in VIC. Basically if something is registered in another state with 2-4 seats, make sure you check and the dealer can confirm that it can be mod plated to seat 8 before the sale. Otherwise you will only legally be able to use it for the amount of seats that it is plated for. Then theres the VIN number debarcle i had with Vicroads... they wouldnt accept the VIN numbers stamped into a plate and riveted on... apparently other states this is how it is done but VIC do not accept it and it cannot be registered like that. Luckily for me i have access to a workshop with the metal letter and number stamps so i did this myself without an issue... well without much of an issue. Then there was getting a RWC in VIC... even though it was registered in QLD as it was when i got it (18s, coilovers), this doesnt fly in VIC. So 1k later and a lot of sweat and tears to track down some wheels that fit an E50, (once again having access to a workshop helped me a lot, but not everyone does) that was sorted. Having gone through all that rubbish though we are glad we did... there is nothing else on the road that even comes close to an Elgrand as far as a comfortable, adaptable and versitile family car with as many features for the price. My wife loves it and so do the kids. If you can, get one with the "Lounge Package"
  16. Havent got it installed yet... had to wait to order another 15inch monitor because the 19inch flip down i got for it was way too big to fit between the sunroofs. So now both 19 and 15 are going in with the 19 being mounted to the tailgate so i can watch TV if we're out somewhere having a picnic etc The unit cost me $1500 2nd hand and came with the bluetooth adaptor, reverse camera (even though our E50 has one std, so we'll use this as a replacement for the rearview mirror), ipod dock etc. Yeah im on lots of forums... especially car related, from VLCALAIS to Guam Road Racers lol
  17. awesome... Samsung it is.
  18. and what was the major benefit?
  19. The only place i can find em is now and then on ebay... not bad though. If i cant get a series 7 or 8 LED i will probably get one of those. I like the whole wireless networking capabilities of the samsungs... saves me running a 360 as a media extender or PS3 to it as it will connect directly to my file server to run movies, tv shows etc directly from.
  20. I did look at the Series 9 LED backlit LCD but it weighed damn near 15 kilos more then the current LED models and didnt have as high of a contrast ratios. For some reason they dont list them directly in the LCD section on their site any more either. Plus aesthetically i think i like the LEDs better.
  21. Stuff f*king around with the firmware on a 4k TV.
  22. hmmmmm... anyone on here have any series of the Samsung LEDs? im looking at the 55" Series 7 and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with em...
  23. see... removing it is going to give you better acceleration! do it... DO it... DOOO IT... DOOOO IIIIIIT
  24. monkeys right... auto spoilers are teh gay. Plus the stock non Type-M front bar looks shite. Get a Type-M front bar and dump it.
  25. with massive gay arse decals down the sides...
