M35 Boost - Why Does It Take So Long?
Paramour replied to Paramour's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
regardless of what beer you are up to it made perfect sense.... It has been raining all day here in Sydney and near home there is a nice 3 lane road and I came out in a bit of a rush and the backend slid out a bit but it recovered very quickly, so i though I am going to do that again with the Synchro on.... well I did it a little faster and no sliding whatsoever..... I thought the take offs with synchro were actually better from the lights and the gears did not seem to change as slowly. Yes it was sold as a family car to the wife...."Thats why you have the evo" she often says, blah I say I just want to make the Stag better....... This is actually my first Auto turbo car so it is all a little lazy ATM. But I will look into the cheaper mods first like airflow, I reckon that will make a difference. Jules -
Hello, I have noticed that when I put my foot down there is a lag period before the turbo spools up enough to get going. It is ok to live with but as it gets to 4000-4500rpm it changes to next gear, so I dont really get to enjoy the benefits of boosting. I appreciate that is what the triptronic is for to hold it in gear for longer. My Evo boosts very well and is a manual, I know it is a different car but I want the same excitement from my stag eg feel the boost rush. Hence my next problem it does not change quick enough for my liking, it takes to long and appears to be slipping. I drove my mates Liberty GT and you hardly notice when you shift the triptronic. So I would like to pose the following questions to you : 1. Is possible to get it to boost earlier rather than later and still have the same fuel consumption 2. Or do I actually need more boost say 1 bar etc 3. How are the triptronic changes for you guys S1, S2 M35 4. Is there a way to improve the triptronic gear changes 5. Or can you offer any other solution Jules

]\ What airbox & filter do you currently have, some pics would be nice....might be interested. Who is the insurer.

Sounds like you have great plans for your Stag, You know you could always import a Torana to Denmark, that would be something different.... My first car was a Torana and my mate had a flully blown SLR5000 and it was the fastest car I have ever been in, ( quicker than my Tommi Evo) Very heavy crow cams etc, 120ltr drop tank, Nitrous connected etc etc, the idle thump of that engine was like a nightclub subwoofer, "lump lump thump" whipping down the magic mile in Whyalla SA. I reckon you will find some info on your gear box here, these guys have a lot of experience and knowledge of the Stag, surely there is someone who can help.... Jules

Hello, I can only say what mine has which is: Bose 6 Stacker Intergrated Stereo with Sub mounted in the spare wheel cavity. Electric Leather seats Rear AC vents Cargo net & blind Very nice 18" Rims, 225/45 Extra storage compartments (as I dont have the TV screen) Twin Sunroofs Body kit which is standard Mount for flare ( I think mine is a red emergency flare, cant read japanese) standards me thinks. If you can read japanese this Autech site has all your answers, it is very interesting to note that Autech planted a 6 speed manual in the 350S, I wonder how hard that would be to transfer the 6 speed in to the AXIS or any other VQ25DET M35 for that matter. At least we know a 6 speed manual was slotted in to one. http://www.autech.co.jp/HISTORY-SV/M35S01/top.html Jules

Very nice car mate, betcha the other danes have no idea what it is......and that can only be a good thing..... Would you care to share your mods and power info with us.......

As far as I know the Autech M35 AXIS Stagea has a lowered firmer suspension , the rims are stock, the interior trim is white and black, AXIS labeled carpets, BOSE Stereo, of course the body kit. I am sure there are a few other things not mentioned. I wouldn't mind a nice sounding note from the exhaust system, as with most Stagea's I get asked often what sort of car it is, as the only giveaway of the make is the small nissan logo on the back. Only the guy at Strathfield Car Audio knew it straight off.

Hello, Just some pics I saw on the net about the Blitz FMIC for the M35 Stagea. For those interested. But would it provide any decent benefit....thoughts anyone.....
-
Yes I did, It is a nice car and only had 34k on teh clock so was a good bargin. It is a dream to drive and has all the features, except a 12v in the back cargo area which I really need....or should I say my sons PSP needs. Ben tells me he has a black AXIS coming in very soon (no sunroofs), so hopefully more on the northern beaches. We have a shop in Dee Why so you may see it cruising around there every now and then.

Some M35 Pics, well mine anyway.

When I get it I was hoping to just adhere it with loctite or something similar, but first I would use blutack to see if it looks good before glueing. If it looks crap I have a nice badge for the kids. And I am not keen on replacing front grills.... To me personally, the front grill is missing that littel something, just a little plain for a nice looking car. Jules

VIN - 6U9000NM353095011 2002 Stagea AXIS I am certain it does not normally come with the badge, but I reckon the double unicorn of the earlier models would look nice on the front grill. Badge a (either one) from teh second picture kindly attatched to this thread. If it looks dicky I can always take it off.... Many thanks, Jules
-
Cheers, I guess I expected it to be harder...... Does anyone know the part number to make it easier to order.
-
Hello, Anyone know how and where you can get the double unicorn badge for the car..... Jules

Hello, I was looking at some Jap sites and apparently the M35 Stags have a rear 12v socket, but I can not see one straight off, so before I start pulling of the rear skins, does anyone know where it is or even if it actually exists. Many Thanks.

M35 Stagea 0-100 & 1/4 Mile Times
Paramour replied to Paramour's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
mmm talking about that low rev boost cut, I note on my M35 stag it is very sluggish in first but then second & third really pick up, I was overtaking and noticed it was doing 140km/h at about 3000 revs which was pretty good. My Evo 6.5 is never sluggish even off boost. Is this a common thing with Stags, is there a way to get that boost spooling a little earlier, has anyone ever run sequential turbos on their stag..... Jules -
If you do decide to get one before us, could you be so kind as to take a pic so we can see where they have welded it etc. I will return the favour if I get it done first. Jules

M35 Stagea 0-100 & 1/4 Mile Times
Paramour replied to Paramour's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yes I agree there is a lot more to the car than 0-100 and 1/4 mile, but it is a benchmark most cars are touted to people, Just wanted to see how much each model difffered. 7-8 for a series 1 is pretty good considering a GSR does that. -
Hello, Can you guys please provide some info on stock times for Series 1, Series 2 & M35 Stageas such as: 1. 0-100 2. 400m / 1/4 Mile times 3. Top Speed 4. Actual kw produced and not the gentleman's agreement of 206kw. Many thanks. Julius

Xenon Hid Lights M35 - I Need Your Knowledge
Paramour posted a topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Hello, I have an AXIS and it has the Xenon HID lights, but I noticed that only the normal beam is HID, the highbeam is a normal yellow halogen bulb. So my questions are to those who know the answer: 1. Is it normal that only the low beam be HID ( They do adjust with the switch on the underdash near the door, they go up and down) 2. Was the highbeam HID removed due to compliance requirements 3. Will it be expensive to get HID for the highbeam or does it all connect to the same system 4. Would I be correct in assuming the bulbs are H4 type fitting, if so I could just get a white xenon non HID type bulb Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Jules ps, can some one pm me how to change my car details on my profile, I need the Stag to be shown and not the evo. And also how to keep my picture from disappearing in my profile. -
Hello, Well I asked my dealer that exact question as I wanted a towbar to carry the kids bikes, didnt really need to tow anything. I wanted it on my AXIS. He told me it is not as easy as the Series 1 & 2 Stageas, As there is a lot of components where the bar would normally get welded, apparently there is a pump for the drive line or some sort of fluid transfer case. "Please correct me someone if I am wrong" He said it can be done but it is a lot of work. Surely they do it in Japan If you find out more I would really like to know, I need to carry the bikes. I was going to ring Carasel out liverpool way, they did a great job in my 4WD, maybe they can do something. Jules

Hello, My name is Julius and I like nice long drives on full boost, the smell of fresh air and the crisp clean sounds of 30mhz frequencies. Recently I bought a 2002 Stagea AXIS, and I must say I am very impressed. I liked it better than the ARX because the ride was firmer and I reckon the cornering was far better than the ARX. Of course the BOSE stereo helped sway me across. Overall it is very tidy and runs like a Gem. Sadly the fuel consumption is far from the 11/100k cycle rate Nissan quotes, I am roughly getting 20l/100, so hopefully it is due to my excitement driving. I would be happy with 15l/100. But I expected this before deciding to purchase, my Evo 6.5 only runs 11-13l/100. Hopefully it will sort it's self out. The only other niggle is that it takes a while for the boost to come on, if I floor it from a standstill it seems to take longer to spool on to boost, but the other gears are sweet. I look forward to a cruise day or the likes... Jules

Hello, I recently got my car insured by Famous Insurance ( Ex Vigil), previously they did not do M35 Stagea's, but after some discussions with their underwriters they now do them. I got a good quote for my Stagea AXIS. Under $1200 for a rating 1, over 30 on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. If you need more details PM me. Jules
