  1. Maybe with all the messing around it mite be better just to fork out $1000+ for an FC... I don't know much about em, but far as i know it replaces the stock ECU and it can control EVERYTHING the car does. Do they stuff up? Should i go a 2nd hand one???
  2. I would go the SAFC, but isnt a new SAFCII only $350? If u want $180 for a second hand lesser model, is it worth it?
  3. Not sure what the harnesses are for the e-manage. But it sounds like a better long-term alternative. What if i want two boost/power setting, like at 9psi for everyday, then flick a switch and jump to a 12psi remap??? Will the SAFCII & e-manage handle this? Cause i have a man. boost controller...will i need some kind of EBC upgrade, or an piggyback ECU & EBC all-in-one unit??? And can i reset the max. factory speed limit with a piggyback???
  4. I'm planning on adding an SAFCII to my R33 and pumping the stock turbo to 14psi. U saying i need a new turbo then?
  5. Did a search, SAFCII and Greddy E-Manage look very good, and similar. Do either have any advantages over the other? So i can do this piggyback tune to take my stock turbo up to 1 BAR and pump the correct amount of fuel in. That's how it works right?
  6. Seen the blue mountains cruise post??? What about the Bathurst & Sydney folk meeting up at Katoomba or something similar in a couple saturdays???
  7. I have no aftermarket ECU management in my R33. I'm running 11-12psi on a stock turbo and the air/fuel mixture runs rich at these levels because the computer isn't programmed for these levels. I was told i need ECU mods (like fuel cut defender) but i wanted something with more adjustablity without going all-out on an expensive Power FC. I want something that will be good for a future mod plan up to 220rwkW. Any suggestions???
  8. The boost controller on ebay is here. I bought one couple weeks ago. Easy to attach and use, great results on a close to stock setup. I upped from factory boost (5-7 psi) now running up to 11-12psi. Very happy!
  9. Count me in! Yup Highlands were great + 1 R33 gtst
  10. "> Wow my UL sux...would be faster if i sat in the living room i think. I'm on the other side of the house, so weak wireless link i think
  11. Yeh Mac. Pk isn't the best, but neither is Parramatta. I left my car at the Riverside parking lot and car got keyed there. Was totally random. Lots of jealous motherf**ker dogs around there. Just need to be careful. That place is secured and monitored so u'd think it'd be OK. What can u do? Nothing, just wait for karma.
  12. But would the xforce be a waste of time on a mild power setup? It wouldn't reduce performance on a close to stock setup, right? What power rating would the X be good up to??? I'm aiming for 200rwkW roughly. Would this cheaper option be bad for someone in my position?? Considering the rest of the exhaust was ur average just jap quality stuff too.
  13. I want it...but i know i shouldn't get it...hmmmm soo tempting...i'm holding my credit card... Maybe i'll wait lol
  14. OK i already have comprehensive insurance... lighten up guys...
  15. So if the springs are stiffer than factory does that mean adjusting spring rates is pointless (if the suspension isn't adjustable by hand)??? Will post better pics asap too.
  16. Ohh good point. I might as well go for a high flow yeh. Don't even know what the hell that one is anyways. Damn i'm gonna need to skip insurance to pay for these upgrades
  17. Well i'll find out if its a resonator or muffler. Can't tell myself. Yeh I'll get a dump+front soon...its a good early mod from what everyone says ...and you guys say a lot! Is installing the piping from the turbo to the cat a hard job for someone with decent mechanical ability? Seems like a great way to waste my afternoon
  18. The fuel cut def. sounds like a good choice. I'm not sure if i wanna go for it as a long term mod cause it sounds kind of restrictive, in terms of being able to adjust power like a Power FC can (which does cost a helluvalot more ). Should i just wait to get a good ECU tune? Or just go the PCD?
  19. I doubt they're dead. When there's people in the back the rear doesn't bounce around much. The ride is more comfortable and the shocks dampen bumps more. I want the suspension to absorb bumps all the time though!
  20. I'm in the same boat here. I have a stockish R33, with cat back exhaust and pod filter. I recently added a man. boost controller. I also want a quick street car, for the odd track day too, but i'll be adding a FMIC and dump soon. I'm probably goin for the JJR ($260) dump and FMIC ($350), both from Just Jap. They're cheap and can do well up to around 300rwkW (i'm advised). I'd be stoked for a setup where it's economical around town, then i flick a few Power FC switches and i'm peaking 220rwkW. I think that's affordable and reasonable for a daily driver that you want to have fun with
  21. haha that's funny. My stockish RB25DET cuts the fuel around 7000rpm but i guess it's A) safety and B)pointless to go harder as the stock turb is outta breath by then anyway. Does it sound good over 8000rpm? I reckon it would be as angry as a Type R, hopefully angrier with an extra two pistons spinning around.
  22. Are spring rates a big job? I'm guessing it's nothing major. I wanna do it soon
  23. I recently added a manual boost controller on my basically stock R33, its now running 11psi. When i crank it up to 12psi it goes a little harder on boost, at about 3500-4000rpm, but i feel hesitiation from the engine like it misfires or something . It 'feels' like the air/fuel mixture's a tad lean, without actually measuring it. Anyone know what this is? I read a thread saying the stock ECU goes nuts past 10psi - do i need a piggyback system/complete computer replacement with a dynotune to fix this???
  24. OK so my first exhaust mod is buying a tape measure I guess i'll take it somewhere to see if that's a resonator or muffler. The cat...well u guys said change it for a 3-inch so maybe it'll have to go when i chuck on a dump??? And i have no idea why it's earthed. I read another thread saying a fat exhaust can give boost creep issues on a stock turbo that has aftermarket boost control (like mine, 11psi)...will i have boosting issues after a full exhaust system is in place?
  25. I'll jack up the car with the wheel off and take a looksy. I don't know what 'adjustable' looks like though, i'll take another pic? I wanted to get my suspension adjusted anyways cause the ride is too firm for Sydney roads. Any advice on who to go see about that and relative costs?
