  1. Hi everyone, I was just wondeing if anyone has had a similar issue: When I drive the car say in highway conditions there is a oil smell coming into the cabin. It is a if there is an oil leak and the smell of warm oil feeds into the cabin through the open windows. However if I close them then the smell does dissapear. The weird thing is, I can't see an oil leak or loose nuts or anything. Has anyone experienced similar problem? If not, any ideas what I could check/test Also there is what appears to be an electrical fan at the front left top corner of the radiator. Does anyone know what is this fan for? My car is R33 GTST. I thought it was something to do with the air con but when the air con is on that fan is not running. Thanks for your help in advance guys/gals
  2. I know this may upset some people but in my experience, I tried Shell Optimax and it was the worse thing I could have done. Quality changed from servo to servo, and in fact the car lost power. I am not sure if it is related but my Oxy sensor went bust and had to replace it. Read some guys had problems with Optimax and blew their Oxy sensors as well. Like I said, I am not sure it is related to Optimax. I swicthed to Ultimate and car runs smoother and stable fuel economy. I haven't tried anything else.
  3. mate I used MOBIL S semi sinthetic 10W 40 quite good result. Motul 10W40 full synth is good value. the only thing you'll get out of 0W or 5W oils is some fuel consumption. bear in mind factory standard when all is new is 7,5W so as your car ages you should go a little thicker, but all dependant on your engine age, kms etc etc 10-15W seems a good choice ... Hope it helps
  4. Also some batteries have small plugs which you can unscrew and you have to top each compartment with distilled water. If your battery is running low on water then it wont hold the charge. Some batteries are maintenance free, so there is nothing you can do about it. Also check your brake pedal switch.
  5. Mate, could be the Oxy sensor...or the AFM....

  8. Hey, I drove a skyline with a faulty clutch and the whole body shook as well as the gear stick....but yeah no loss of power... , Hope it helps...
  9. Hi All, hope everyone and their loved car are well. Question, it may be silly but I thought I'd ask. I was about to engage reverse gear in my car however due to a slight slope it was slowing rolling back, when I try to push the gear stick for reverse there is a small crunch, and it wont go into gear unless the car is stopped. Is that normal... or the clutch is not cutting in correctly. Best
  10. Thanks guys, the noise comes from under the body... I thought at first something is not being lubricated well at start up. Althought it;s a hard noise to pinpoint. Once the car has warmed up well and travelled a bit it doesn't do it on idle...It seems the noise is only there once started cold in the morning.. Grrr....
  11. Hi all, I got a R33 GTST, when I start it up in the morning, there is like a tick tick noise. It comes from the right hand side of the car. When I accelerate it lightly it seems to go away. Once the car is warm and idle that tick noise dissapears. Any ideas?
