I got some paint cleaner today and it looked to start to get the top layer off but its still very average. In the next week or two (whenever it cools down a bit) i'll give it a go with something more abrasive.

Thank you both for your prompt replies . I'll give it a go in the next couple of days and let you know of the outcome. I'm really hoping i can get away with out having to respray it.

My bonnet has faded/ oxidised paint on it. I'm just wondering what the best way to get the paint back up to scratch would be? I've tried polish and wax to no avail and im wondering how I'd go with cut and polish or if there are any specific products that i could use? Here are a couple of pics of the damaged paint, the rest of the car is pretty reasonable. Cheers, Andy.

Cheers mate, that pic makes it look better than it actually is. As for lowering blocks, they wont be any good for the xf because its got a coil rear, if it was an xd or a ute/ wagon you'd be alright because they have leaf rears. EDIT: Didn't see your reply before madaz. Yeah wouldn't go on my car need to have something really dumped and wankey for it to suit.

Big wheels on xd/e/f's look awesome. Have a look on www.xfalcon.com if you havn't already . I've got king lows on my XE but its only got the 14 inch stockies so unless its sitting next something else you cant really tell its lowered. There were 33's everywhere at Marion tonight. When you were there was there a large congregation of police in the carpark? (assuming you parked on the Sturt road side). I saw them all there and parked round the other side.

Spotted a black p-plate R32 followed closely by a yellowy green VLt wagon this morning on south road at morphettvale.

I see your car around pretty often. I dont know if that a defect is such a bad thing and it will probly go well with the other pretty stickers on it.

Goto a metal fabricator and ask if they have any 1mm/ 1.2mm 1000 x 1000 offcuts (you wont need that much material). If they do you are likely to get it cheaper than anywhere else and they might even cut it to size for you. My suggestion for you is to make one from cardboard first, then you will have an adequate template and an approximate cut size.
