Time For A New Daily Cruiser Any Recomendations
iseekool replied to Longz's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I picked up an is200 6 speed manual for a daily about 3 months ago for a bargain - everything perefect, had to do some work to it though, as per servicing requirements. - changed timing belt and pulleys - water pump - drive belts - fluids - throttle position sensors died on me 2 weeks ago, causing massive drivability issues (drive by-wire system) - had to replace them. is200 is a good car overall just make sure you get the 6 speed manual version, if you want to get the most of it - they aren't very fast - comparible to the latest corolla in terms of straight line performance. The better model is the is300 if you want the grunt, but the price difference is quite alot. But it all depends on your price range. That I've found in the is200. - great around corners - brakes well - but lacks feel compared to a skyline. - great on petrol - getting about 9.5L/100 in urban on BP Ultimate. Still haven't drivin it on the open road. (It's strictly my daily/A to B car) - engine is quite revvy on the freeway - 6th gear 3200rpm @ 100km/h - very easy to park - sideview mirrors are not the best, make sure you get those circular blind spot mirrors - 6 speed gearbox is bliss to change - nice close ratios and I love the feel, no issues with the gearbox. - People say there are some examples with shift quality issues with the manual versions from 1st ->2nd ->3rd - be on the look out - Clutch is a bit vague for my personal liking - but it is not bad. - cruise control only on the auto models - very comfortable - awesome stock stereo - mine works fine 100% (CD part of the headunit tends to fail what I've read in other forums) - smooth engine, sounds awesome once revved above 4k -
R34 Four Door Questions And Enquiries
iseekool replied to Ezy03's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Also the non-turbo R34 has vvt (compared to the non-turbo R33 and R32), I find the powerband is wider, therefore you don't need to flog it as hard when driving it around town. I suppose the advantage of owning any skyline is the large number of braking and handling mods. -
R34 Four Door Questions And Enquiries

I'd say a non-turbo R34 performance is comparable to the latest 4 cylinder camry/older model commodore/falcon. No that fast in the straight line, but it's not slow - but generally pretty good overall around town and highway. But once you put handing and braking mods they make an excellent twisties car. -
Is200 Sports Luxury 1999 Model Idle Problem
iseekool replied to Ty$'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hi guys, I have the exact same problem recently, with my IS200 6 speed manual. 173,000kms Car randomly hesitates, still drivable - at one point it pretty much had next to no power - Engine light stays on traction control light blinks. Lexus dealer wants to change the whole throttle assembly (i'm guessing this includes sensors) - they want a few K to get it rectified - which is way too steep considering the price of a whole 1g-fe engine. Do you guy believe it's just a couple of sensors to change and all good? -
Spotted white r34 coupe, cnr Keon Pde and cheddar Rd just a few mins ago. "ohhyum" plate number. Nice ride. Thumbs up and a nod.

Heads up display 7. Entertainment: Premium DAB+ stereo and 1080p TV etc.. 8. Blind spot cameras 9. Variable sound exhaust 10. Leather Recaro seats

I have an R34 - usually runs 85-89c - on hot days it runs 90-103c depending on load. Hard driving on a moderate day is low 90s I'm running Castrol 33% coolant. My car is stock.

Not a fan of carpet, I prefer a smooth box, so much easier to move around. ....see what I did there

Doesn't hurt to ask the other states if they have seen the car up for sale or find someone to suddenly have a MP R34. MP R34 , is quite rare - most likely the car will be sold "as is", I don't imagine they would go to the trouble of changing the colour, but who knows. I'm sure it's probably a crime gang, with someone specifically wanting a MP R34 (stolen to order). This might sound harsh, but have yoAre you positively annoyed friend?e any new "friends"/acquaintance lately, say in the last 3 months, asking about your car, where you work or un-solicited offering to buy the car etc? Reason being if it were planned they would have wanted to know more about your car. Also have a think back if anyone has been following you to work. Good luck with it all. Obviously this isn't a case of some people wanting a quick joyride.

Fs: Genuine New Rb N1 Water Pump!
iseekool replied to PM-R33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
PM sent. -
Good point. Lots of alloy chev engines in the USA. The alloy V8s are also lighter than the RB too. Or go the VQ35DE engine or if really keen go the VQ37.

Hi all, I've been using the a/c in my car quite alot lately, however last night it has started spitting out water, few random droplets here and there. Has anyone experienced this? Is there something wrong/about to go wrong with my a/c? So far there doen't seem to be anything un-usual - it cycles as normal, seems to be cooling very well and there is no un-usual smell. Cheers *edit* the water droplets are coming from the vents.

reed switches can be bought from Jaycar and some Dicksmith stores.

@ the OP - Your car is a GTv (GT with all the GTt bits minus the turbo) - You need to get suspension for a 34 GTt.

niiiiiice ride.... Congrats Now I got massive GT-R envy.

Silver R33 GTR along albert st thornbury this morning. "GTR-XXX"

I'm curious - why are thermo fans bad?
-
@ the OP. What mod's are currently on your car? Get a compression test of your engine to help see how tired your engine is - and judge from there if you need the bottom end touched at all. [Just for reference I have an original 1983 L20b powered Bluebird that has done 250,000+ km and still has an even 160psi across all cylinders] - Get a standard rebuild and head clean. Reliability mods: - External oil cooler. - Larger radiator and termo fans. - New stock water pump (N1 if you want to spend) - New stock oil pump (N1 if you want to spend) - Bigger fuel pump and injectors Performance mods: - HKS GTRS turbo - Nistune - Stock GT-R FMIC - Exhaust

I don't think that pearl white is the same - the one on the x-trail looks slightly off-white. QT1 looks like a silverish white depending on the lighting - direct sunlight it looks like the plain QM1. Most common pearl white is QX1. Apparently QT1 is very rare - no dealers seem to be able to get hold of it. Only places that seem to stock it is Infiniti USA. Closest equivalent silver/peal white is on the new Toyota Klugers - however the pearl effect is not as fine as on the Nissan's. It seem's the Toyota's version seems somewhat cheap IMHO.
