Saw a dark coloured (possibly midnight purple?) r33 GTR on high st Prahran - around 7.45 PM last night - I gave you a wave as you hit boost

How Storng Is The R34 Triptronic Gear Box.
iseekool replied to starwarz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I don't drive my car hard much. But yes it can handle shifting at the redline - eg. when doing an overtaking manuver. For track/circuit stuff a manual is a better bet - however if you want to use an auto (I imagine your car is your daily too?) - I'd recommend at a minimum getting a trans cooler and ensuring you are running Castrol Transmax Z Maybe you will have to get better transmission bands and some entry level shift kit. -
What Rare/unusual Parts Does Your Car Have?
iseekool replied to MikeRWK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
That is rare - I thought they came as standard equipment. My car (R34 sedan) has a parking antenna - haven't seen any other car with one, except a Stagea. I drive a clean stock (most parts still genuine) '83 bluebird (daily) which is pretty rare nowadays. -
Slightly off topic - Wouldn't a Nistune be of better value, considering the mods are quite light?
-
Been seeing cars with skyline parts.... Saw a MK3 Mazda 626 coupe with stock R34 GTt wheels - Heidelberg area. Opel/Holden Calibra with an R34 GT-R wing...

Lets Talk V12's Nissan Did Make Some For Race Only
iseekool replied to racer98's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Wouldn't work unless the right hand cylinder bank is a mirror image of the left one.... Due to the intake and exhaust design.... -
Yeh. I agree it does look better without the intake manifold not crossing the engine - but for the sake of day-to-day performance (and overall performance) I'd rather it cross. Short intake length will mean worse low end torque, which will make it feel sluggish around town especially if you have an auto. To make the manifold more "subtle" to the eye, you could powder coat it in matt black or gunmetal... just a thought.

stuff idiots say about skylines

I live near a Uni and regularly drive past. I have some Jap/Asian students looking at my car Maybe reminds them of home.... I don't get many comments however when I'm at the lights a [insert riced 4 cylinder car/commondoor/fjord/porsche here] will always want to race me The best if their GF is in the passenger seat checking out my car - if the guy looks like he is getting pissed off - I blow a kiss to their GF -

A stock GTt manifold still goes across the engine. You could probably go for a GReddy style front facing plenum - but this will not be worth it (and useless) unless you are running a turbo. The reason why the intake manifold goes across the engine to to give the engine a longer "runner" length - this will increase torque at lower RPMs. Since the R34 GT uses an variable length intake manifold (notice the "Y" pipe) you will be able to have best of both worlds. Just out of curiosity what makes it annoying? It's not like you are constantly changing sparkplugs/coilpacks?

A Hyundai Getz will be faster than a de-turboed RB25DET....

Last night around 9.30pm near Reservoir train station white or silver R33 gts/gts-t??? Asian fella driving. Plate number "YNVME"
-
It's the last of the series 1 R34. Nissan introduced the GTv as a limited edition sweetener before transitioning into series 2. All the GTt bits minus the turbo engine...
-
Yes - It's a GTv. I can see the big brakes up front, which need the 17" GTt wheels to clear them. You got the best setup for doing a turbo conversion in the future - if you decide.

Toyota Alphard
iseekool replied to skyline78's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
The problem I see with the Alphard is that it is FWD..... FWD+Heavy/overpowered vehicle = fail IMHO. El Grand would be better for "power" mods being RWD. -
Interstate Transport
iseekool replied to Chernade's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Gonna throw in my 2c.... Local is the best way to go if you don't really know the in and outs. Nothing wrong with Jap imports but you will not be able to see the car in teh flesh until it arrives... that's just the fact No matter what state the car is located you can always buy a cheap domestic airfare to go see it. At worst you waste your airfare... A friend of mine used to live here in Victoria (she is overseas now) - she had a pearl white soarer 1JZ vvti turbo - it was stock, but in excellent condition - a guy flew all the way from Perth to see it - he liked it and even put a small deposit down... but later changed his mind Anyways the car was eventually sold to a senoir citizen about a month later -
My rule of thumb for any laptop buyer. Minimum specs CPU - Must be 2 cores or more and 64 bit - Don't be fooled into thinking having many cores will make it faster - unless you run many virtual machines or software engineered for many cores. More cores are nicer - but will do squat if your sodftware doesn't utilize them. RAM - As much as you can afford or physicaly put inside the laptop (probably the most important component). HDD - If the laptop is going to be moved/transported alot - get an SSD drive 64GB should be the minimum. If the laptop is going to be stationary and rarely moved aim for the largest you can afford. Graphics - Anything that can hardware decode 1080P video. nVidia based systems are the optimal choice for stability and performance on the portable scene. Other - Aim for a laptop that runs cool - no point buying a laptop that runs hot and has reliability issues.
-
That is actually good value - swap the 2x500GB HDD to 2x256GB SSD and you will be laughing. But for CAD or professional applications I stress you should be using nVidia based graphics cards. If you an have extra budget best aim for a laptop with nVidia Quadro based graphics - this is becuase these cards are optimised for CAD.

Another Importing Newb Here!
iseekool replied to ironpaw's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
R34 GTt never came out in AWD. Only the GTR (RB26DETT) and non turbo 2.5L (RB25DE) models came out in AWD - Known as GT4. -
Does the engine at least spin? Might want to check the battery and starter
-
Spotted a dark grey R32 GTR - plates "TRB-032" - along warrigul rd. Had an Excedy sticker. Amazing looking car. I was in the white r34
-
LOL - I'd say the opposite... R34s with no wings should be illegal
-
White R31 coupe on warrigul rd around 7.30PM tonight.... Love it....

4 door + manual are harder to find regardless if it is a turbo or not.... You will find most 4 doors are auto.... For people saying there is not much difference with the 4 door and 2 door are wrong.... As much as I love the 2 door... Leg room is slightly better in the 4 door, rear headroom in the 4 door is better and the boot is massive.... If budget isn't really a concern - I recommend getting an R34 GT4 sedan and eventually putting in an RB26.... D.I.Y GTR 4 door... well kind off..... Here is some inspiration.... ---> http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ld-t280439.html

I'm sure eBay might have some cheaper imitation ones... or you can always go second hand from a wrecker...
