V36 Skylines (thumbs Up/thumbs Down)
iseekool replied to V36 Skyline's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
In terms of looks the V36 is very handsome. It's the best looking Skyline sedan (4 door version) since the R30, R31, R34. I wish Nissan re-introduced the "stove tops" - That's what sets the Skyline apart... However I doubt this will ever happen as it will probably de-valuate the current generation R35 GTR (In Nissan's eyes) -
That is due to the oil pressure not building up fast enough to tension the timing chain's hydrulic tensioner. Reason why it happens in the morning is because most of the oil drains to the bottom of the engine. It's not an issue I'd be worried about - as long as the sound dis-appears stright away - if the sound is constant you could be using incorrect oil/time for an oil change or could mean an issue with the tensioner. You might want to check the oil grade - I think the V-Series use 5w-30 oil.

I don't think Nissan would remake the RB ever again. It will never meet emissions. The trend now is all alloy and larger displacement engines - reason being is for balance, cost and emissions - something to do with thermo dynamics..... The RB is from the mid 80s. however... It would be interesting if Nissan does sell its patents for the RB to 3rd manufacturers for developing countries....

Yep. Good choice. By the time you are on your fulls you will have something quite special.

Some nice tasteful mods there. But I must add... Do not put a cannon - it will actually reduce your low end power (day-to-day driving), make un-wanted noise (in an auto it does not sound good) and attract unwanted attention from the boys in blue.... Rear wing is fine - for a sedan a lip spoiler or a wing from an R34 GTt would be fine. Oversize wings do not look good and also may not be legal. With sedans - the trick is to keep the styling clean and simple - nothing too out there. For a P plater. eg. Cosmetic: - slightly lowered - 17" to 18" wheels (Not the bling/rap star type) - Factory bodykit - Tinted windows - Clear indicators or smoked depending on the colour of your car. - Lip spoiler Engine: - High flow panel filter - High flow cat -

ah yeh.... one guy named La_Bomba did that ^_^ (You will see him around the forums) Don't do what he does -
I wouldn't know the price for an RB20DE... but What I do know is that it would be damn cheap (almost scrap value maybe????) because they aren't that powerful in the first place, and there isn't much love for them unless they have a turbo. If you cannot part with the car, I'd workshop it (keep in a garage) and work on it - maybe a few upgrades/fixes. By the time you are on your fulls you will have a nice car to drive. But really selling it is the way to go.... You will get fined by the police regardless if you have the turbo in or not as the car's build plate shows it has a turbo... the the eyes of the law you are still driving a "turbo" powered car. You are better off driving with the turbo on and just risking it and hope not to get caught - But I do not endorse that. note: I'm not trying to be rude - but this has been covered many times before on these forums many times with other peoples experiences.
-
Bad idea. Removing a turbo from an RB20DET engine will make it weaker than a factory RB20DE. You will have people in 1.3L cars out running you. Sell the car or workshop it until you get on your fulls.
-
LOL. I think you should always park the car in gear....
-
Also get your park (hand) brake serviced/re-greased - it may not be retracting properly after many years. I had the same problem on my R34. Had all my brake pads changed and rear rotors machined - the tech noticed the park brake system sticking. He gave it a clean and a grease - no more problems.

Performance Filtration System For R33
iseekool replied to nightfighter_r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
K&N filter is just fine. Not much extra power to be made from the VQ25DD (or even the VQ30DD). I'd be more concerned about the maintenance of the direct injection system - if not maintained - it will rob you of more power. ---> http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Di...gt-t277914.html VQ series engines really win for having excellent torque throughout the rev range. -
YEP. High compression + some mild boost = early power delivery and excellent torque at low RPMs - power always on tap - minimal lag - best combination for day-to-day and highway cruising. (similar style to the Euro turbo cars ie. BMW 335)
-
Don't put the GT-R badge. People will laugh at you if you do. Unless your car is an R34 GTt or GTv - Your car will not have HICAS. Pics of your car will help - especially the front wheel area - we can then tell if you have a GTv model or not. I'd imagine you are on your Ps. I wouldn't mod the car - the cost and the trouble from the cops isn't really worth it. Probably a high flow panel filter, some light cosmetic mods such as clear indicators, window tint and nice wheels (not bling rims!)
-
*drool* That is alot of torque.
-
La_Bomba.... Where are you..... I think I found one of your friends
-
Bright green and 22" rims... Beirut's finest
-
Nope that's for the auto trans. The R34 has a plain dipstick.
-
It's a hard comparison - larger engine capacity will always have the advantage for "easy" power regarless if n/a or turbo..... By "easy" power - I mean, any mods you make to a larger capacity engine will see more gains.

R34 Gt-t Street/drag
iseekool replied to AZZA R34's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
also some fat rubber on stock 16" (R34 non-turbo) rims for the back - when at the drags. Low profile is not good for drags. Run your 17" (R34 turbo) rims for the street. -
Not taking anybody's side here. I think what Mag86 is trying to say is you can get more power for better value out of an RB setup. Nothing wrong with the L series - but cost vs. performance the RB will be of better value, due to it newer design/technology etc. etc. Mag86 is interested in the L20A for a restore/historical job... not to chase massive power. End of the day it is the OPs decision if his mate wants to part with the L20A or get an RB or other engine....

Don't sell your car because of that incident. In reality your car is comparable to any camry out there. If the popo are going to pick on you for your car they have some serious issues. Yet you got other P platers in bog stock commondoors, fjord falcons, V6 magnas and aurions pushing much more power.... You don't seem to be running a kebab spec vehicle either.... There is nothing illegal about it by the sounds of things. I'd probably want to change the plate numbers to stock plates or something not too "aggressive" - un-fortunately most of society (ACA and TT veiwers) out there would deem your number plates "aggressive". Most people who know nothing about skylines have no idea how big the difference is between a stock R34 GT to a GTR. I have a theory - once people (other drivers) see the 4 stove tops glow - it brings out the worst in them. You get young parents and people in their 40s wanting to drag you in what ever vechicle they have... Maybe because they have never had the chance to drive a skyline/GTR or it reminds them of their lost/wasted youth or maybe the "Skyline/GTR" name represents something that is "un-beatable/the best" so people that have small man syndrome get really p*ssed of when driving around in their Kluger or CX7 with their 2.5 kids in the back

Spotted a silver R34 coupe (not sure if it was a GT or GTt) this morning along warrigul rd heading south. Plates "W4RIOR" something like that.....
