  1. Have you considered an R34 GTt sedan (4dr) - lots of space. And the prices of the sedan are lower than the coupe - which will leave you with extra cash on mods or for a cleaner example. The sedans are probably less likely to be thrashed - however expect higher KMs as they are family cars..... Probably easier to pass by the missus Or if you are into more of a luxury car maybe a V35 3L would be an option. I personally think the R34 sedan is the best looking skyline sedan since the JDM DR30 and R31. (Not hating the R32 or R33) The V35 is a much better car overall (I've driven a few) - but doesn't have the "cool" factor look or leave you much options for engine upgades - but makes up for everything else in refinement/smoothness.
  2. I think it's the seatbelt tensioners. In my car it seems to tighten the belts slightly once you turn on the ignition. Once you turn the engine off i hear a relay "click" and the belts are easier to move.
  3. My R34 stays in the range of 86 to 89 degrees - cold to normal outside temps. On summer it stays around the 93 to 96 degree mark - however I've seen it reach 105 degrees - on 40+ degree days, in traffic and A/C on. I get my readings from the "consult" unit from www.ecutalk.com I use Castrol green "radicool" pre-mix - I think its 33% - But I do notice it loses its "nuclear" green colour quite quickly, to a dull green colour after around 6 months - not sure if this means anything.
  4. Spotted black R32 gts or gtst this morning - Hoddle st. south bound - plate number "skyr32"
  5. I "think" it's more for legality reasons in Japan, where the driver needs to be more visible. I'm thinking back to the epsode of top gear when Jeremy drives the R35 GT-R and claims they can only get you for speeding if they have a picture of your face.... not sure how true that is though.
  6. ^ 2L NEO (from R34) engine would definately be something different. They can be found on eBay for a bargain. But on the thought of enlarging valves (head work) etc. wouldn't it be more cheaper/easier to just go for an RB25 NEO head or even an RB26 head - as these heads would have already been ported to the right specs out of the factory... Just a thought.
  7. I've never been to HK - some awesome Skylines in M'sia and S'pore with little expense spared. Some of the cars in M'sia have been modified to something you would only see on the track because they don't enforce any emission rules. S'pore on the other hand are strict on emissions and mods (I'm going from 2nd hand info here) - so the way around this is to register the vehicle in M'sia under a friend or relative (therefore M'sian number plate) - the S'pore police can't lay down the law on your car. Another intersting place I've seen an R32 - possibly GT-R - is in Taiwan (just on the outskirts of Tainan city) - it was on jack stands, really dusty and partially covered. Not sure if it was converted to LHD - as RHD is banned in Taiwan. Mitsu GTO have been released in the USA so getting one into China (LHD) maybe easier or they may have released one domestically.

    Visiting Japan

Wow - that K-tours thing looks awesome - but 7 days and 6 nights is a little bit too much Osaka for me - As I planned Tokyo specifically - but have not locked in accomodation yet But a side trip to Osaka is very tempting. I've enquired with k-tours if they can do some sort of 2 or 3 day deal (I do part of the tour instead of the whole lot). I'll await their reply.
  9. I "think" this fella "might" live on Rathdown St Carlton. I see that car parked there late at night when I go to my friend's place.... Not sure about the other details - all I remember was dark rims - but the GT wing sticks to mind and there are not too many yellow skylines. I never seen it actually running. Not that I'm stalking....
  10. off topic - but wow - that is just f*cked - it is like locking a kid between the screen door and the main door....
  11. That's what I meant tint all windows excluding front windshield as it is illegal
  12. You will not be losing or really gaining torque with more cylinders, you will get more torque earlier in the rev range and will be much more linear as the cylinder firing will be more frequent. 8 cylinder will have a power stroke every 45 degrees, 6 cylinder every 60 degrees and a 4 cylinder every 90 degrees. In theory the more cylinders you have, the higher you can rev it smoothly - but you will then have to start factoring power lost to friction etc. - obviously more cylinders/moving parts = more friction. So there needs to be a balance between engine capacity and number of cylinders. Then there are other things to consider such as bore-to-stroke ratio. Longer stroke = more torque at low RPM but risk harmonic resonance at high RPMs causing highly stressed or broken cranks. Bigger bore = less torque at low RPMs but can rev higher with the risk of harmonic resonance. Another thing to consider is each cylinders capacity. eg. an SR20 will have a larger cylinder capacity to an RB20 (total engine capacity divided by number of cylinders). There are alot of things to consider. Since this is an n/a application and if you do not want to run any vvt or anything like that - the RB20 will still have more potential compared to an SR20 engine. The key to more power from a small engine is revs. (nothing against the SR20 - I don't want to start an SR20 vs RB20 war). Reasons: - 6 cylinder = smoother revs = more potential to rev it higher. - short stroke design = allows for free reving.
  13. stock-for-stock - Straight line highway cruising and long wide corners - the Commodore (any large Australian car) will always ride better. Not really built for handling like a skyline or other "sporty" cars. My dad has a VS commodore - even with the live axel (non-IRS) it rides much better than the Skyline - but throw it into a corner it's a barge. But in saying that one of my mates has a VE SS-V and it handles and rides brilliant.

    Visiting Japan

Hi guys, I'll be in Tokyo between 14th June to 20th June. Just wondering if there is anything interesting on during this time. Is it easy to go and visit workshops/race tracks - I'm in it for sight seeing? My plan is to travel around the city by subway/train If anyone is up for it we can always meet up for a chat and a beer.
  15. Nice! congrats on the purchase.
  16. Yeh. Slightly off topic - this is one of the better Filo ones -> http://forums.evolutionm.net/other-cars/19...-vspec-nur.html
  17. I think your skyline actually looks quite smart - just needs some TLC. My personal recommendation. Don't bother with the carbon fiber bonnet (totally up to you) - but it kinda looks tacky on a stockish looking car. Current wheels are not bad. -Get a new stock bonnet. -Set of side skirts. -Fix up your front grille. -Clear side indicators to comliment the indicators on your front bumper. -Tint your side and rear windshield to the darkest legal tint. -Polish your headlights -If budget permits a new coat of clear over the existing paint work - keep the car looking "fresh". -Detail it. Nothing wrong with a commodore - but a skyline will always draw attention as it is different.
  18. Tell her it can haul all the shopping with ease
  19. For the LHD conversion (excluding the mechanical) - I'm guessing it's a -> "cut-and-shot" and a leather/vinyl re-trim. or -> they may have got the whole lot and made up a reverse mould and remade the whole lot (dash and center console) - remember this is China - possibly the over could own some sort of pastics factory...... or -> Middle East spec Nissan Bluebird dash.... (I've read about this - but not sure) Quite interesting. But if you have a look around on youtube and google - I've seen a few left hand drive GT-Rs in the Philippines.
  20. Northern suburbs Hope to see you around - I sometimes drive around there.....
  21. Welcome. Very shmick. Like! What side of town are you from?
  22. Serious? Surely not in the northern subs... You may have something very obvious on your car that warrants them to take a look. or the car you are driving has some sort of "history" with the cops. Cops in the northern subs generally don't care unless you seem to be driving erratically or driving in a suspicious manner. Cause they actually go out and fight the "real crime" and accidents as a priority - due to resources being stretched. I imagine defecting someone is lower in their list. As opposed to the east and south east where the crime rate is generally lower - so "possibly" more reasources are focused on the roads. I've lived in different parts of northern subs for the past 22 years. But since you are from Mill Park - they could be ramping up cause of the guy that decided to wrap himself and some friends around a tree back in January... By the way I find the cops in the northern subs pretty tough (really lay down the law) but easy going and don't mind a friendly chat - I guess they have seen way too much - that nothing really shakes their world anymore. If only more cops were like this... but that's probably for another thread - and would be open to debate
  23. Nope - I was at the cheesecake shop buying a cake for my mum's birthday You wouldn't have seen my car though - I was using the the family's Daihatsu Charade.
  24. Spotted "WANZI" out at Epping - white r34 GTT - high street (near the Cheescake Shop) - did a U-turn at one of the roud abouts. and a black R33 GT-R pull into the Cheesecake Shop.
