Need Wheels Quick But No Money :(
iseekool replied to MitchM4's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Agreed - good quality 2nd hand ones and a balance. Or if you have a little bit more dollars buy a brand new set of cheapies Put them on your stokies and until you save enough $$$ -
What model g35/v35? 2.5L, 3.0L or 3.5L?

Red R34 sedan - could have been a GT4 (AWD model by the style of the wheels) at Heidelberg - Waterdale rd - around 8PM - rare as duck's teeth IMO.

every car maker has its flaws. *not here to bad mouth any brands* Toyota ain't perfect either - mid 80s cars blew head gaskets (5 and 7M engines), noisy diffs in the ke70s, dodgy diesel estimas, faulty brakes on some late model cars - There's many more issues that toyota owners come across (i'm no expert in the subject) - but I find toyota seems to hide this stuff under the rugs (this is a personal opinion BTW). Toyota "seem" to be the bees knees of Jap cars because they generally have pretty good customer service and support to fix their f*ck ups. But to say they "last forever" or "never break" down is BS IMO. Jap cars in general are roughly similar to each other as alot of components are outsourced to other manufactures eg. lights, suspension etc. Japanese companies also follow the "Continuous improvement cycle" - so each model/revision release tends to get better. Euro cars don't seem to stand up well to the Australian climate - interior degrades fast, electronics are dodgy, cars need to be "pampered" in comparision to their Australian and Japanese competitors.

Spotted a red/maroon r33 gts-t coupe at Bundoora park - Had a GT-R badge at the back. Nice clean car. Sorry mate can't trick me hahahaha

Also remember to chock your wheels regardless if your using a ramp or jack - helps minimise movement - therefore lessen the risk just that little bit more.

What Are Dr30 Hot Plates Really Worth?
iseekool replied to D-limo's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
oohhh DR30 "stove top" p0rn. Me likey. -
Worth a quick read. http://www.autorivals.net/supercars/2011lf...favs2010gtr.htm Pretty speculative in terms of real world performance - IMHO

Much more expensive than a GT-R. I think its price is Ferrari money - so not a direct competitor to the GT-R

Cars That Are Way Ahead Of Their Time
iseekool replied to HotPlates's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Definately agree with you on many points. The R34 definately isn't "original". The point I was trying to make is that the R34 doesn't look too out of place till now as many car companies still follow a similar style or "formula" if you will. I'm not saying that other car companies "copied" the R34 - But considering the car is from '98 it doesn't look too far different from what's on offer today - which is 12 years later. .... or maybe cars in general just haven't changed much. -
Moving forward - what about for imports manufactured after 01/01/2011 - I'd imagine not all of them would have ESC

The cost of converting the R31 to AWD will easily surpass the cost of an R32 GTS-4 maybe even an R32 GT-R. If you need a 4 door R32 GTS4 could be a viable option. But if your budget is huge - It will be definately different.

I "think" alot of the drivetrain components are from the Celica GT4. Not sure about suspension components. Interior is a little too '90s RAV4 IMHO. Definately one of those "wolf in sheeps clothing cars" - lots of performance for the money. If she is really worried about servicing/running costs - as we most are - I wouldn't really recommend it - reason being it's an AWD, turbo and not Australian delivered (therefore parts could end up costing more/being harder to source). It also depends if she intends to keep it long term and if she is willing to fork out on 98RON fuel everytime. If she is really after a Toyota branded AWD vehicle I'd probably be looking at an 2003 to 2005 2.4L RAV4 or if the budget permits the current shape RAV4 with the 3.5L V6. just my 2c

Seen it in Taiwan - Definately stands out from the crowd, wisper quiet too. But there is something about the looks that is kinda "tacky"/cheap (probably too Americanised???) - Can't quite put my finger on it. Looks don't match price maybe (I'm not questioning the mechanicals)....

Cars That Are Way Ahead Of Their Time

Mk4 supra (with the right looking wheels), R34, FD RX7, VL (calais only - its the front end that would just push it over the line). I think you're kind of on the right track for the R34 being released in 2010 (hypothetically speaking). I think it will definately still fit in and not look dated. Reason being look at most cars today there are quite a few styling queues from the R34 - remember the R34 was released in 1998! My personal interpretation - Cars any car with hard edges (boxy) - Will generally age well - R34 has this trait - Front end of the VE commodore and BA+ falcons - Shape of head lights - VW golf and jetta - have somewhat similar styled headlights - but taller on the VW. - VW golf and jetta having the odd sized circular tail lights - another r34 trait - The current shape Chevrolet Impala - odd sized circular tail lights (do not like this car) - but worth mentioning. - The wedge shape of the R34 (especially the sedan) is quite inline with many of the current cars out there. This is all open to debate. But I think the designers of the R34 were right on the money back in 1998 - considering it still looks "with" the times even till today. -
One thing to look at could be the condition of your battery as a start. Cars getting flooded "shouldn't" be an issue with EFI. But - some late 90s Subarus do suffer from hard starting if you have ran the engine too quickly, eg. start the engine to move the car a few meters then turn off the engine again.

Slightly off topic... In Japan do the police departments actually buy the cars as opposed to here in Australia where the police lease the cars instead? Reason I came up with this GT-R being an ex-cop car "theory" is because: - High KMs - These cars will always be on the road - like a taxi - Interior is quite average/lower grade - Well maintained - I'd "imagine" a typical person in Japan wouldn't really bother once the KMs and the age increases. - Seems stock - I've seen videos/pictures of un-marked GT-Rs in Japan with this same colour. - All (marked and un-marked) police R34 GT-Rs have front fog lights. But this doesn't definately mean it was a cop car - but just a feature to note.

Bayside blue R34 GT-R with LED tail lights on Lygon st. last night.
-
Dark blue R34 N/A manual coupe - Plate number "HVNS-34" Pretty stock with a cannon exhaust. Red P plater. It was bunny hopping slightly - that's how I figured it was a manual

"If" he was 20 ish - he could have loaded parents... Personally not a fan of "rich kids" cause they tend not to really appreciate what they have nor have worked/earned it.

Welcome to SAU Is your car stock? the 180km/h speed limiter must annoy you

I recommend changing ALL your coilpacks to brand new, probably a good time to change your spark plugs too.
-
It's an E series merc - seen it twice on the Monsah.

Depends on trim level. eg. if it has an "X" meaning it has the xenons, premium audio and rear privacy glass - probably some other small bits too. 20gt 25gt 25gt-x 25gtv 25gtv-x 25gtt 25gtt-x
