Intersting... I had no idea they changed the rules. Lucky I got my manual licence when I was learning

Because it is using mitsubish and toyota bits - should be no issue for reliability because they are from older vehicles (tried and tested). Even though safety is bad - just think of it as buying an older 4runner - you will be in the same situation - I dare say you would be slightly better off in the brand new chinese model. I say go for it as long as you are not planning to keep it long term - End of the day it's a brand new vehicle. Reason being is it will depreciate real fast and I "imagine" (un-founded claim) their paint qulity is not too good - therefore it will probably start rusting sooner. The quality for rubber components could also be a questionable.

Silver r34 gtt. Heading north on cheddar and dalton rd. Around 5.45PM had a skylinesaustralia.com.au sticker on the rear window and rear fog light like on a GT-R. Plate number XHH-*** Just friendly heads up - you got slight oil (blue) fumes coming out of your exhaust on acceleration - you might like to get that checked.

^ Rocklee Of course its not our job nor should we eyball every car or person - but if something is just plain obvious, I feel it is our duty as the public to inform the people with the authority to follow up. (Funnily enough in some cases these small crimes/offences are linked to larger crimes) I guess that's why so many offences/crimes slip through the cracks, because we as the general public are not encouraged to dob in these people. I think the government should have a number/email for "low level" offences - only problem is it will cost lots of $$$ for them.

Hi guys, What's the number or website to actually dob people in. I had an incident this morning where a green P plater in a black VE SV6 commie was driving like hoon in traffic along lower heidelberg rd between banksia and bourke rd north - city bound. He then lined up next to me and wanted me to race him. I shake my head at him to give the clear intention of "NO", then he rolls down his window and starts making kissy faces at me etc... *sigh* No wonder why some people wrap themselves around trees/poles. I looked in the VicPol website no numbers or email address relating to dobbing these idiots in. All I see is 000, and I do not really want to call that number as it is not an emergency. What do you guys think?

Fair point. Agree it's a dangerous spot - it's not the best section of road by any means, but the speed limit is 70km/h, the guy was doing well in the 140km/h+ range. The question is driver attitude/mindset. He should not have been even pushing it past the speed limit in the first place. For all those that say advanced driver training is required - I agree - however the reason for the training is to get you out of sticky situations, if you are obeying the law in the first place - It does not give an excuse to drive any car to its limits on a public road and save you. That is why there are speed limits and road rules - as long as you follow them the best of your ability (nobody is perfect) - your chances of a "genuine" accident will be greatly minimised. All the high speed thrills and taking cars to their should be left for the track.

Slightly off topic... I don't think all "legal" cars such as BMW, merc etc.. have xenons that are auto level adjustment - from personal experience most of them seem off focus and actually blind you. *shrugs* Having Xenons on wet nights = Fail. Especially with the yellow street lights reflecting off the ground - The xenon lights just don't seem to work as effective. Pitch black country roads xenons are the best. Strictly speaking from experience here.

End of the day these, are the ingredients for disaster. - Idiot behind the wheel - knowing full well what he/she is doing is wrong. Advanced driver training would not have helped here, it is one's own personality/attitude. - Car or some sort of vehicle. Doesn't matter about power etc. anything that can go above 60km/h.... - Speed - any speed above 60km/h, the seriousness off the crash will grow exponentially. Hitting a tree SIDE ON at 60km/h is NOT much more safer than hitting a tree at 140km/h+ No matter what restrictions/bans are imposed. eg. you can ban a driver - but that does not physically stop them from getting into a car and driving..... ==== -> IMHO - this will sound cold - It's just un-fortunate that the driver in this scenario didn't give a sh!t about his mates or the general public and he payed the price. Regardless if he was driving an 800cc car or a V12 twin turbo. If he wasn't speeding/hooning this "probably" (in a mathematical sense - as there is ALWAYS a chance of an acccident) would not have happened. I would dare say this is not an accident, as it was his intentional decision to drive like that.

Broken timing belt ???

http://www.ecutalk.com/ I got it from these forums about a year ago, from a guy called "newkleer" (cannot remember the spelling)

Hi all, Just wondering what is the normal coolant temps for hot days. The reading are based on the CONSULT box. Lately I've been in the 88 to 93 degree range, sometimes hitting 97 if the a/c is running - Usual is around 84 to 86 degress. On the last 38 degree day my coolant temp reached 103 degrees - with my a/c on in traffic. Just wondering how my car will go on this 43 degree day with the a/c running... My car is pretty much stock.

Heater Smells Like Urine....how Do I Stop It!?
iseekool replied to The_Scroop's topic in General Maintenance
I found running the A/C on re-circulate constantly helps overtime I've also used the ambi-pur stuff on my central vents - I'm guessing its because A/C removes condensation. -
Hahahaha - I had a similar issue with a 911 turbo on Thursday night along Nepean HWY. On green he spools it and launches then gets stopped by the next red light - I take off normally. I pull up next to him at the next set - he repeats it for the next two lights - I just LOL. I just shake my head at him and do the wanking sign.... He must have thought I'd try race him... I wish the cops will pull these guys over... The Skyline tail lights - brings out the hoon in every road user

I thought VNs hugged trees automatically - by wrapping itself around it. It's just nature taking course, by killing off the stupid...

Check out these threads. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/98...Gt-t297401.html http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ld-t280439.html My opinion: If you are going the R34 N/A route - Keep the 4 door as "daily spec" - With minimal mods. High flow panel filter, extractors and a decent sounding stereo (not the full DOOF DOOF stuff - adds so much weight and takes boot space) and some nice alloys. This will also enable you to get parts from the nissan dealerships. R34 non-turbo are not quick cars (on par with your typical n/a aussie 6s), however they do keep pace with the "majority" of cars out there - so they are not underpowered by any means. I'd put them as VERY average. Only real advantage of the n/a R34 is the better handling and the good looks (majority of people out there have no clue between the bread and butter GT/GT-T to the GT-R). When you save up enough you could probably end up having 2 cars R34 4 door as a daily and a GT-R for the weekend/having fun...

...because box ain't that common when you're in a Stag... But you will always have enough room to smash box inside a Stag Spotted a black R33 coupe heading south along cheddar road reservoir last night.

Spotted a black r34 coupe heading to the airport around 8.30am

GOR is the best road IMO. Love driving there. I don't mind the slow drivers - as long as they pull over and let you pass, it is the ones that refuse to let you pass that really piss me off or the ones that speed up when you try to overtake.....

Black R33 gts-t at Portland with some stickers (shopping list) down the side - Only import I saw over there. Saw a yellow R34 coupe when heading to Warrnambol from Portland.

Thanks for all the info guys. I just came back from there - spent 1 night. Ended going via the Colac route, and the Geelong Ring Road. Not a bad drive - some dodgy road edges - had to drive towards the middle a few times. She is heading there for nursing work, something to do with her finishing uni. and she has to go there. Skyline looks kinda funny - bugs across the front bar - if you squint it looks like the car has grown some "stubble".

Thanks for the info. much appreciated. Another question - hows the lismore route in terms of road quality (stone chips/ rought etc..)? I'm taking the R34.

Hi all, I live in Melbourne and I'm going for a drive to Portland (near the SA/Vic Border). Reason for going is that a friend of mine is planning to move there for work reasons and she wants to check out the place. So I have a few questions - Hope you guys can help out - Which is the best route to take between Geelong and Warrnambool section -- Via Lismore or Colac. - Any good places to eat whilst there? Just spending 1 night. - Is there much to do or see while we are there? - Is there much to do once you start iving there, other than work....? - When my friend moves there, are there any bus or train links to Melbourne? (I cannot seem to find any). She isn't a keen long distance driver - not a fan. (She also drives a Mirage 1.5L Manual - probably not the best car for too many Portland to Melbourne runs.....). She would "prefer" to catch public transport to Melbourne for visits.
