  1. White R35 GT-R in Richmond plates "GT4"
  2. That's why I see you down warrigul rd every now and then
  3. ^ That's a pretty wild unit you have there. Just wondering do you have any issues with bumps/rough road for the HDDs?
  4. Sounds like a plan. Might have to consider it in the future once I start using a better user interface. Looks like I'll have to use the pen for now - which not such a bad thing at the moment as with anything Windows - related the icons and onscreen keyboard would be too small for my fingers. BTW - are the touch overlays expensive?
  5. Had an old PC given to me for FREE so I decided to turn it into a “home server” – The PC is pretty ordinary and I couldn’t find any real use for it as a daily. I also happened to have spare 256 MB RAM. All I ended up purchasing was a 1TB HDD from MSY which only set me back $105. Originally: IBM “Pizza Box” 2.4GHz Celeron single core 256MB RAM 40GB 5400 RPM IDE HDD 40x CD-ROM Integrated everything including LAN No monitor, keyboard or mouse No software – PC was wiped before it was handed to me Current specs: IBM “Pizza Box” 2.4GHz Celeron single core 512MB RAM 40GB IDE HDD 5400RPM – Contains operating system and applications 1TB SATA HDD 7200RPM – Contains all my data. 500GB USB External HDD – Offline storage (Removed) the 40x CD-ROM – due to physical space limitations inside the box. USB Digital TV tuner card (Which I connect – if I intend to record TV) Integrated everything including LAN Extra cooling fan which I happened to have. No monitor, keyboard or mouse – I setup the system so that it does not need them – I basically access the system via remote desktop to manage it – nothing more. The PC actually lives in a cupboard Running a very stripped down version of XP Pro with SP3. What I use it for: Runs 24x7 – Quite happy with it – It has been running solid for the last 8 days with no issues or reboots needed. Storage for all my music, video and data – I also stream music and movies from it to my home HTPC via a shared network drive – no lag. Print and scan server Internet download box Home security – have some webcams hooked up to it to record the outside of the house. PVR for recording free-to-air TV shows.
  6. Yep that's the one - it had a busted HDD - which I ended up changing to a SSD. I have to use the stylus - I tried with my finger but it does not seem to respond or I could be doing it wrong
  7. I got my car PC in my R34 running smoothly - got movies, music and internet on the go - all i need now is to find/make a good mount and possibly have a hardwired solution - I'm currently running it off the ciggie lighter. Specs: - Second hand 10" HP Tablet PC - XP Tablet Edition 2005 - (Made lightweight - removed the stuff I didn't want and disabled any un-needed services) - Pentium M 1.2 GHz - 512MB RAM - 64GB SSD + 4GB SD card (No mechanical HDDs to damage) - ECU software which connects via USB to my "ECU display aka ECUTalk" - NetStumbler - Internet connection -> via mobile phone (bluetooth pairing) or WiFi - Firefox installed for web browsing. - Movies and Music played via Windows Media Player with K-lite codec pack. - VLC installed - Audio out through AUX socket. Coming soon: - Integrate a USB hub somewhere in the vehicle - Probably hide it under the center console. - USB Micro cameras (front and rear facing) for taking video of track days/incidents - police videos style. - USB digital TV tuner. - New battery - current one only lasts 1 hour - no issues so far as the PC runs from the power socket on the car. - Buy/create "Proper" car mount - Better icons and possibly a better CarPC front end. - If funding permits - PCMCIA GPS unit and some software.

  13. That's a nasty hit. Good thing you dad walked away OK. As a habit a always look both ways when the light turns green especially on high speed intersections (70km/h+). It has saved me on a few occassions.
  14. In regards to the article - I'm approaching this quite cynical. If the technology is good, car manufacturers would have jumped on the bandwagon around 10 years ago. "Maybe good" strictly for low end application for people after high torque at low RPMs or people wanting an NA+T style setup. Don't think it will be used to make big power... but who knows what the future may bring. Clear advantage with this system would be zero lag as the supercharger will be independent on engine speed and you can mount it in almost any direction. Disadvantage - it would be heavy, especially since you will need extra wiring battery and anything else required for such a power hungry device. Possibly system could be made lighter by using lighter metals, faster/lighter motors, battery technology might improve further and regenerative braking could be used to help charge the batteries faster... but then, again with all that said and done... It would have been easier to go straight to a hybrid (petrol+electric aka Prius) setup and not have the electric supercharger.... as hybrids have pretty good torque from low RPMs. I'd imagine this whole electric supercharger idea is more of a retro fit to current vehicles that need the extra torque, slight power increase and possibly economy - but no means the future of forced induction.
  15. White stock looking R33 GT-R and white R33 4 door at Epping Autobarn around 3PM. and a few R34 sedans and coupes in the northern suburbs... looks like the R34 is starting to become common, not sure of that's a good thing or not :S

  17. White V35 coupe - lygon st around 5PM Plate number "MRFOXY"
  18. R32 parked near MSY Cheltenham around 4.45PM yesterday. White R34 4 door heading eastbound on Canterbury rd around 5PM on Wednesday - azn chick driving - I seem to see her all the time - I only noticed because of the load exhaust - Gotta love the RB sound always grabs my attention....
  19. Possibly with the increased torque you are getting the auto will tend to upshift earlier. Does the car feel sluggish/flatspot in anyway during the early upshifts? Having upshift earlier with no side effects is not such a bad thing you save a little on fuel.
  20. ^^^ The xenon lights will physically fit all sedans and coupes. *However*.. I'm not 100% sure if the wiring is the same for cars factory fitted with non-xenon lights.
  21. Running a MSDN copy of Windows 7 at work for testing purposes. So far so good - definately faster. I feel they took the good bits from Vista nd XP and put it into one package. Installed Windows 7 on some pretty average laptops which struggled under Vista - Mobile AMD64 with 2GB RAM - Windows 7 is definately a winner. Only issue I had with Windows 7 was video drivers not installing properly therefore no "Aero" or nice graphics - it says it is installed fine - but device manager sees the video card as a generic item - ended up having to manually install the drivers which seems to work. But in saying this - Hopefully Windows 7 remains as fast as it is on the official build.
  22. Tighten the belts - having slipping belts "might" cause your battery not to charge fully and do some damage to pullies and pre-maturely wear out the belt itself. If you are still having issues with noise/slipping replace them.
  23. Assuming they provide quality items (genuine or reputable aftermarket brand) it sounds fair. Ensure they use quality fluids/oils as well, because there is no point of having good parts without good fluids/oils to protect them. Also keep around $700 aside because sooner or later your ignition coils will start to give trouble (most R34s face this issue around 100,000km). If you don't have experience I'd say it is good insurance - especially if you start factoring in the hassle of breakdowns, towing, cost of fixing engine damage and the days you will not have a car it will easily cost much more than $1100.
  24. If you have an R34 - Better get a set of new coils (splitfire brand). Once one coils starts to fail the others will not be too far behind. Best get a new set it will save you hassle especially if you drive far from home alot.
  25. Very nice and clean build-up
