  1. Blowtorch the stickers off.....
  2. Has anyone done this to an R34 N/A (RB25 NEO)? I've had a look at mine and it seems quite different to the R33 in the pics. I have no issues with my car at the moment. I'm just curious - because I wouldn't mind cleaning it, for the sake of keeping it maintained and I imagine it would also help with idling economy too.
  3. Check your air temp sensor and afm.
  4. *puts on flame suit* What I "think" the journo is saying there is a "fun" car and a "great" car. The GTR clearly falls into the "great" car category, as does everything staggeringly well (maybe perfect???) and for a decent price. A "fun" car is more of a personal feeling, it does not have to be necessarily something that is technically superior by any means, be it a paddock bomb to a million dollar car (including some of the bad ones out there) - it's all in the feeling of what a person defines as "fun".
  5. If I've been driving my car quite hard (which I very rarely do) - like through the twisties, I just ease right off just before the destination, but if forced to stop, I just let the engine idle for around 30 sec (turbo timer is just a waste of money if you really don't need one - that money you save by not having one goes to the fuel you burn cooling your engine down). I'm a firm believer you should always warm down the engine after a hard run or hot day because heat soak shortens the life of some components - for stock cars 30 sec is long enough. Just my 2c
  6. I see that car alot around the Brunswick/Fitzroy area - must live around there....
  7. I've been told (when I was learning to drive) you should take of around 5 to 10 km/h and double your distances between you and the vehicle in front - if its wet.
  8. Well put. One of the most practical bits on the car
  9. Black R32 heading north bound on Dalton Road (Thomastown) around 10.45PM, while there was a green S14 infront of us getting pulled over by the hwy patrol.
  10. Looks like the GT-R is no longer the ultimate car....
  11. do they have secure online bank transactions? I sure hope they do, who knows what crazy scams are out there...
  12. Hope it gets fixed soon - all the best for it, lucky its just panel damage nothing mechanical (but still sucks )
  13. True I should have - but I definately remember yelling some stuff - but i guess I was kinda chocked/confused - but all I could see was my car going for the barrier (this was on the tight round about) - I was bracing myself for impact. All that was really going through my mind primarlily was "I'm screwed". Hard to explain.
  14. You pretty much got it spot on. It's a respect thing.
  15. I never let any one drive my car - Only other person that drives it is my dad and my best mate - which I knew from high school. Last night I went to another "mate's" BBQ, I knew the this guy for 2 years through work and I always politly perstering me for a drive of my Skyline "one day" - he comes a cross as a good character - no way I thought he would do such a thing to my car. ...Anyways he is really into cars - but never really had to the chance to buy something "special" like a Skyline due to him being a family man at a young age - he has always driven "common cars". I'm about to leave the BBQ and he asks me for a drive around the block - I thought why not - biggest mistake I've ever made. I was in the car the whole time. Screws up all my settings mirrors etc. to suit him (not that it is bad - but the fact he did everthing so rough) - in the process tries to guess everything - so I politly guide him. He was generally rough with the signal light stalk whenever he uses it. The trouble began once engine was at operating temp. He gave the car a little boot - I didn't mind he opened up the taps a little, but afterwards the real abuse began he flicked it into tipronic mode and fanged the crap out of my car full throttle starts, race car like braking and droping into lower gear way too quick for what was needed - he even miss shifted - his reason he got confused with what is offered in the arcades - essentially he drove it like he stole it - this was for about 10 minutes - but flet like hours. I was constatly telling him to take it easy - but he thought I wasn't too serious and just laughed it off. We eventually came to the point where he was near his place, I told him firmly to call it a night - but instead of calling it a night, he drives past his place and continues on for another 10 mins, at one point I thought I was going to die he did a tight suburban round about at 50km/h - at this point I was pretty much yelling at him to ease off - but he just laughed. Eventually stopped the car at his place - I was fuming - but was at a loss to say anything - I didn't even yell - I just felt like smashing the c*** - but his family were at the front yard and I had the inner voice saying "don't do it". What pissed me off the most was the fact he thought it was all a big joke with me being upset. I drove off so bitter and hate filled after that experience - I'm pretty much trying to block off all contact with this guy. Never again am I trusting anyone with my car no matter how "good" they may seem. It goes to show how some people minds work. When some people get a chance to try something they only dream of, they jump at the chance to literally abuse it. Anyone had something similar happen? Was I over reacting?
  16. Wow - that sure is news to me... I thought all "modern" cars regardless of brand etc. Reason being my '83 Bluebird (not a TRX) has a stock rear sway bar as well has the R31 skylines out there.... My R34 n/a (non- gt-v) sedan has them stock - I imagine the R34 coupes will have them stock due to being more "sportier" so to speak. I just want to clarify are you refering to the rear strut brace (this is the brace you see in the boot and rarely comes with with almost any car) as opposed to the rear swaybars (which are "under" the car)?
  17. 11.30 PM - Near Lygon St - Red R34 GTT - I gave you a thumbs up and you returned one too. 11.45 PM - Corner of Bell st and St George (near Bellst Maccas) - Black R33 Gts-t - I gave you a nod and you nodded back - I was behind you all the way up to the corner of Cheddar Rd and Keon Pde. 12.00 midnight - I was followed by a white R33 gts(t) in Thomastown - You eventually pulled into a driveway...
  18. Black R33 coupe stuck on the tulla fwy near the airport - city bound. Seemed to have a flat tire. Around 10pm. I think he had personalised plates
  19. I got an old Motor mag that pit this GTS-R against the R33 GT-R
  20. These are the steps I take when going away for a while - do these before you leave. - Your battery will go flat if you do not turn the car on for that amount of time. Either disconnect it (personally recommend) or have a trickle charger - but not the best solution if there is no one watching over it. - I also recommend having the hand brake in the down position and the car left in gear (if manual) or left in Park (auto), this will prevent the hand brake from "sticking" - Inflate the tires about 4psi harder than factory spec - this will prevent the tires getting temporary flat spots and by the time you get back they would have slowly deflated back to around factory spec. - Lift up the wipers - This will prevent the wipers from having a set. - Change coolant and oil - fill towards the full mark. Stagnant coolant is not good. Having fresh oil will ensure it will flow properly once you return. - Add additional windscreen washer chemical to the washer bottle, I've had experience where algae actually develops. - Give the car a good wash and wax. - Once you return make sure you warm up the car properly and drive it slow initially because all the fluids would have settled over this time. Hope this helps.
  21. hehe that IMAQT1 plate number would suit a pearl white nissan - QT1 being one of Nissan colour codes for pearl white...
  22. Originally i was looking for Bendix ultimates but decided to go for General CTs instead due to the other advantages and the fact I realised i don't really drive my car that hard majority of the time. I did give them a good run on my last trip to great ocean road and thought of them highly. The Bendix General CT (ceramic), retail for around $70 for the front and about $90 for the rear... odd considering the rears are smaller Things to note about the General CT - as it may not suit everyone's needs. - Slightly softer feel - less feedback - but you can definately feel them grabbing. - Good overall performance - not as good as the heavy duty (metals) for long high speed braking - but still very consistent and competent for the price and other advantages. If your really need to slow down from high speed best down shift. - Quiet - Minimal dust - Great grabbing power when brakes are stomped. - Smell nicer - smell like buscuits - if that even matters hahaha - Most likely wear faster (I also have genaral CT on my Bluebird and have noticed this) - but at least your rotors will last longer....
