Hi all just to clarify... This happened to me today. The engine light turned on and stayed on after 10 minutes of driving. I didn't feel any change in the engine etc. car felt as usual no hesitation, shakes or missfires. I pulled over waited a few seconds and restarted - engine light was off and never came back on. I guess i'll have to drive the car more and observe if the issue comes back. My car is an r34 non-turbo auto btw. What is the consensus on this? Bung sensor or coilpacks about to give out or ecu glitch (if that even happens)???

Hi, They are the same. I just bought a set of Gates branded hoses from autobarn. and they are identical. From memory the GTR is the only one that is different Cheers

Hi guys, Thanks for pointing in the right direction. Any recommended brands? Cheers

Hi all, I’ve recently taken up snowboarding and I’m wondering if there are any roof racks that will fit my R34 – 4 door Cheers

I thought they were the same stock rear muffler between the turbo and N/A...... :S
-
Yeah, the genuine item is heavy, but i suppose it is the cheapest option for low noise as you already have it in your possession. The setup in my car was already in place when i bought it so I didn't spend anything. The other great thing is that the stock rear muffler will not attract any unwanted attention.
-
On your dash - can you still see the P R N D down the center? In manual models this area will be blacked out. Another way of telling if your car was an auto is if your steering wheel has + and - buttons (assuming your still using the stock steering wheel).
-
In my opinion - get a set of extractors, highflow cat and keep the stock rear muffler (apparently they have reasonably good flow and are fairly quiet - from memory it is claimed they have better flow than a WRX's muffler...). I have this setup in my car and I'm quite happy with it - Quiet at low revs once you reach above 4500rpm the sound is awesome, similar sounding to a BMW 6 cylinder - Automatics with loud exhausts at low revs don't sound great.
-
$260 is quite expensive even for a Gates branded belt. If you are not going to do any mods go the genuine nissan belt for about $90 - It is available from the Nissan dealership.
-
Is your car an automatic? If it is the switch you describe is for your tiptronic control on your steering wheel.

Hi all, I'm going on a snow trip tomorrow and I may need to fit snow chains. Does anyone know how common snow chains are for my wheel/tyre size? I got the factory 17" r34 gt-t wheels. Is there a big chance they will be scratched? Cheers

A Click Sound Coming From The Rear
iseekool replied to SinistR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sounds like you have worn universal joint/s. I had the same issue in my bluebird. Hope this helps -
I suppose if it were obvious you were speeding excessively, they can get you for "reckless driving" as opposed to "speeding" - they don't even need a radar.

R34 Triple Guages On Non-turbo R34
iseekool replied to iseekool's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for that. Would you happen to know the part numbers? and are these sensors easy to install - in terms of no drilling or needing to fabricate anything? Cheers -
Hi all, I've been intending on purchasing an oil temp and voltage guage for my N/A R34. I came across a genuine triple guage set from a R34 GTT on ebay for a bargain so i decided to purchase it. Does anyone here know how to wire it up? especially the oil temp guage. I imagine the volt meter would just splice into the cigarette lighter wiring. -> and for those wondering about the boost guage - I'll probably just leave it (not wire it up) or find a clock of the same size Cheers
-
hmmmm... yeah i thought so. could be a n/a + t setup cause his car is a gts
-
Your dyno graph shows you have some serious power do you have a turbo? or just a heavily modified N/A?
-
Not a good idea, the R34 gtt requires 98 as a minimum (even though it says 95 - fuel is variable - always anticipate 2 octane points lower eg. your 95 fuel could go down to 93). 2 main reasons to go 98 - Firstly it is turbo and secondly the RB25DET NEO has higher compression than the previous GTTs. I own an R34 RB25 non turbo and I found that if I use 95 there is slight pinging on hills and my consumption seems to rise by about 2 liters per 100. I also drive fairly lightly. So I use nothing lower than 98 (unfortunate because of the price of fuel - however it is good insurance against my engine going pop). It will be worse on a GTT. At the end of the day buying a GTT and running it on regular 91 is a waste of money, as you will always not want to have it on boost, effectivly having worse performance and economy than a non-turbo model.
-
Higher octane burns slower (i'm not sure if it burns hotter or colder). The reason for pinging is the fuel burns "too fast" - most of the energy in the fuel is depleted well before hitting top dead center - therefore not giving the maximum kick. That is why the car will ping if the ignition is advanced (fired earlier).

150MPH in an N/A ???? - Thats about 240km/h :S
