  1. Check the following. - Air filter - Spark plugs - Tire pressure - 02 sensor - AFM - Vacum leaks
  2. Possible. Maybe something like a series 2. Good example is the MkiV Toyota Supra that ran from 1993 to 2002, mainly cosmetic with some mechanical upgrades. I'd "imagine" Nissan would do something similar (as there is money to be made on a proven formula). Probably some more cosmetic tweaks, maybe a direct injection engine with variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust with lift.... Maybe introduce flex fuel.
  3. Go the GTT... This is a Skyline forum , it's expected. Def. have lots of respect for JZX100 though - Much better torque.
  4. Exactly, I agreee. What's your point? I'm sure many people will agree too. But most people don't go around breaking the laws because they don't like them. :S But since the laws are in place, there shouldn't be the "i'm rich/famous" vs. "everyone".
  5. tl;tr End of the day. Law is law, regardless of the country. You don't like the laws, STFU or GTFO - simple. There shouldn't be double standards for rich/famous and everyone else.
  6. bit off topic why would Nissan go a Merc engine?? The VQ and VH engines are already damn fine.
  7. Must be very rare or only a few made :S The original Nissan brochure shows it only as an auto with no option for manual or auto with tiptronic. Mind blown....
  8. I'm gonna take a pure "educated" guess and think Nissan will probably run the sedan versions of Skyline V36 or Infiniti G37 platform... Reasons being: - Infiniti will be releasing cars in Australia soon, possibly a good marketing opportunity... - The V series Skyline is already in production and has RWD, so less mods or no mods required for the floorpan. (I don't know about the rules. ie. if you are allowed to change floorpans etc... so a FWD based car would be useless) - It's a 4 door - Size is already similar to a falcodore
  9. TBH - the price differences are gonna tiny (virtually non existent) - Reason being is most people don't even know there is an "x" model, unless you look at the original Japanese dealer's brochure. It's going to be down to the condition of the car. Many cars out there have had their Xenon headlights butchered at compliance, with normal halogens fitted. Just look arund i suppose. Try to buy from a known club member and you should have a reasonable ride. For sale section has plenty. The cleanest and straightest examples are probably still in Japan - so if you are willing to pay more and wait, importing maybe the option.
  10. Depends if it has an "X" behind the designation. Eg. GT-x GTt-x The "x" represents a premium model. Such as rear privacy glass, xenon headlights, premium stereo. For the GT-x you get front strut brace and LSD option as an available extra.
  11. Are you running the stock DE injectors (270cc) at the moment? Reason I ask is because I'm thinking of going a similar route - I'm not going after big gains, but lots of low down power and a fat torque curve, high compression + turbo, like euro cars such as VW GTI, XR5 turbo and Audi turbo. I'm thinking to keep it simple - stock GTt ehxaust manifold and piping + ecu remap. I want to run low boost ~6 to 7psi I like the thought of having max torque from around 2000rpm http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/news_reports/ford-focus-xr5-turbo.htm
  12. V36 is the go IMO, but don't expect it to be sporty. Damn nice cars. If you can stretch your budget a little bit more go the 370GT model. The 350GT is also good, but since you will be spending that much coin a few K on top will not disappoint, and there are lots of turbo and supercharger kits from the USA at a reasonable price
  13. I imagine the "extra gear ratio" will slot between 3rd and 4th. As I feel there is quite a gap between 3rd and 4th gear in a conventional 4 speed auto box.
  14. That's incorrect. All R34 are 5 stud. GTv has brakes from the GTt. All ather n/a have the same brakes regardless if it is AWD or RWD. na + t would be nice for a GT4 for something different, but cost is probably not worth it. GT4 models only come in auto and do not even have tiptronic. The GT4 was designed to be driven in snow, not really with perfomance in mind. GTt is your best bet - roughly the same price and you have transmission of your choice.
  15. I'd say the 4 speed is physically stronger, but having 5 speed would be much nicer IMHO.
  16. VQ25DD - Leave it as is. Not much can be done to it. I think they have squeezed enough power out of it IMHO. It's already direct injection and high compression. I'm suspecting your intake plenum is probably blocked up with lots of gunk from the EGR system (common issue with direct injection systems). I'd clean the plenum 1st, then get high flow air filter and a catback.
  17. R33 2.5 na had the option for a 5 speed auto.
  18. I eneded up going Genuine Nissan. The guy at the dealership told me the rotors are the same as 350z (non-brembo), Maxima and V35 Skyline (non-brembo) - But honestly give them you R34's VIN and they can definately say.
  19. In the for sale section of the forum, you might be lucky to find a good condition stock setup for reasonably cheap.
  20. R34 GT and GTt/GTR have different designed airboxes, but use the same panel filter (A360) from a VN to VS Commodore. Just get a K&N panel filter.
  21. Rather incorrect. - You are refering to the differences between the R34 Series 1 and Series 2. - GTX is a trim level spec on the GT25 and GTt, ie. premium sound, rear privacy glass etc. - GTv is mechanical spec difference, it is a GT25 + upgraded brakes, LSD and HICAS (all from the GTt) - 2.0L is plainly known as a GT. - 2.5L is known as a GT25, GTX, GT4 (AWD model), GTv (GT25 + mechanical upgrades) - 2.5L turbo is known as GTt and GTt-X
  22. Spotted Charles89 this morning along Warrigal Rd.
  23. I think Toyota engines in general always seem clean inside. I changed the waterpump in my IS200, inside the radiator and the water pump housing (whole cooling system) were like new. My car has done just under 200,000km. Comparing it to my Skyline (130,000km) and Bluebird (300,000km??? ODO stopped working years ago) - Thier cooling systems seem sh*t, even with changing coolant every year.
  24. I'd personally go for 2x GTX560 in SLI. $200each...
  25. GT -> Basic 2L GT25 -> Same as GT, but with 2.5L engine. GT-Four -> Same as GT25, but with AWD GT-x -> Same as a GT25. Equivalent to a premium model equipment wise, ie. factory privacy glass, double din "premium sound", xenon headlights, front strut brace, optional LSD, optional GTt wheels. GTt -> turbo model of a GT25, with big brakes, HICAS, LSD GTt-x -> turbo model of a GT-x, with big brakes, HICAS, LSD GTv -> Same as GT25, but with big brakes, HICAS, LSD
