  1. but doesnt stop, handle or steer????
  2. been in a v8 supercar round eastern creek with full race slicks.... great, but not that great.. a well sorted evo could do it up.. if the xr6 had more power and less weight... thats great, but if it has less traciton then thsat not so great. eithber way noonbe really cares who wins the fastest time... im only going to see and hear the cars scream around the track. and the xr6 is not someoint i want to see or hear scream arou bnd the track.
  3. is that with r33 lcas or r32 lcas duncan?? yeh the ns.com boys have mac sturts... so it s a bit differnt, but still, it can be done.. how do bump steer adhjusators work>?? p.s. if im talking like fatz is because imj in a fatz like state.. my apologies.
  4. not having a go at you... as your gtr looks very tidy... but i would consider that sunken... not flush.. if that is the fit the OP is after... than all good and well... but flush is only achievable with stretched tyres, i know you are anti stretched tyres, but i approve of the stretch... so it is up to the OP.. if he wants a fitment like yours, then +22 will be fine.. but if he considers that sunken, then he'll need something like +15ish... with some 235's fitted with some stretch.
  5. well... its not impossible... a race track you will never have.. too many legalities...but a windy hill climb track or something is definatly doable with time effort and money... damn money.. weve all got time and effort... just no moneys.
  6. edited due to double post... but while im here... it doesnt look it in the pics but the cooler is on a much greater angle than before.. and its raised the bottom 3cm higher.
  7. ok, bit of an update.. so i got the panasports... and out of all of them, i can make 3 good 9" rims.. by good, i mean, no cracks and no damage.. heres a pic of the GTR fronts and rears... barely even what id call good fitment.. and out of my panasports, i can make.. hmm... 1 good 9.5" rim. hahaha.. but i found a guy in the uk who turns up custom dished outers for panasports to suit the really wide widebodies.. or does someone know of someone in aus?? 3" dished outers would be good... just need 2. so i played around with some ideas.. and figured i could use the 2 Rear 9" rims, swap the rear spokes with the front ones, and have some decent dished front wheels. now thats one way to add some more track.. then i put my 9.5" rim on the back, now its got a pretty decent footprint. reason being is i work on the Pyramid principle when it comes to wheel track... i think that the wheels should be the widest part of the car.. the body can rock around inside the overall wheel width and push the weight onto the wheels instead of pulling the wheels to follow the weight.. i think it allows the car to sit flatter when you are sliding through a corner. so now ive got the stance soughted... i can get to work mocking up different suspension ideas. work out angles and shit like that... headache stuff. also know for sure how wide i need a body kit to be. moving on.. one thing i felt like playing with is the intercooler locale.. i liked it in its original spot... but it was lower than the chassis and very easy to damage if you scraped something i thought about mounting it high and in between the headlights... but didnt like it.. then i thought about a vee mount, but that was alot of work, and alot of the top time attack cars run the intercoolers out the front... so theres no reason why i shouldnt... so i decided to mount in in the same spot, on an angle so its above the chassis rails (as this is where ill bolt the splitter to) its kind of a vee mount i used the old reo to get the top in the right spot so it didnt cause front bar fitment issues.. that would be ghey... speaking of ghey, i think silver or shiny intercoolers are ghey, so now its gunmetal grey. ill make a nice shroud either c/f or aluminium to direct air from the front bar... should look good at the bottom i used 2 bolts to get an even space which ill block off with foam or aluminium, and used and old elec wire as tie wire to let the top rest in the right spot. now i can make up to alloy straps to hold the top in place... these are temporary so that the cooler is solid and i can build a frame around it to hold the front bar on. do not ask to see the bottom mounts... they are horrible.. now the cooler is all mounted up and with the phat tyres on the front, it looks supermegahecticcranky. now i can figure out where to make some nice toight piping go... the next money to be spent will be on a single bucket seat and some old semi slicks... some friends (non car friends) saw the car and thought it was a mere street car that i was doing up..... um noo... not quite.. so for sheer shits and giggles... i want some f#%k off tyres and a seat that just does not look at all comfortable. . this will also keep me inspired as they are physically large items.. it will look more together.. haha.. even though its a long long way off. cheers Linton
  8. haha, i did not even think of that.. considering how expensive it is and how much i got for free vs how much was needed to do the whole car... any thoughts of playing around with were simply non existent, i just wanted to get it in and get it done so i didnt have to go back for more due to stupidity.
  9. i think they will be fairly sunken dude..
  10. yeh... that takes the cake... great to see some proper feedback and proper wheel fitments here.. none of this 17x9 +35 rubbish.. proper offsets FTW.
  11. i have been battling this decison for years... and have finally gone the dedicated track car route... with a numberplate. if i can get to atleast 5 track days a year... which is about all i can afford.. i can justify having the car sitting in the garage.. id like to have it registered so that i can atleast take it on a SAU cruise, or just around the block, but if not, no biggy. i have always had a desire to have fully ballistic and ridiculous stuff in my garage.. my last 2 dirt bikes had been modified to racing spec... yet i never raced them, but the sheer excitement of starting them up and hearing them scream was so exhilerating, cracking the throttle and feeling the explosive and almost uncontrollable surge forwards was a feeling unmatched by anything.. but expensive to repair and maintain at such a level. i sold them both to buy the 32. so with my track car, the plan is to go mental on it.. but keep a sedate power level, focus more on weight reduction and weight placement.. i have fun buying parts.. and enjoy the build process.. thats where the fun will come from.. ill spend more time building it than i will driving it. but im ok with that.. some people pay more for a piece of art that does nothing but hang on a wall. ive never felt right about taking my good car to a track day, as the closest track was at least 4 hours away.. thats a big tow truck bill, or trailer hire.. plus needing something to tow it there with, so ute hire aswell.. even then you have no idea if you can get it back on the trailer to take it home. at a small drift day i went to watch, a guy spun, nothing major, but collected the edge of the track going backwards, it ripped his front suspension off.. he had to reverse it back to the pits, then somehow get it to resemble some sort of suspension in order to get it up on a trailer... thats always turned me off. times have changed and my missus is in her last year of uni and now wants to swap the daily shitter for a nice car... so shes planning to get a wrx... which means we can swap roles... she can pay for the nice car, which frees me up to get something thats only purpose is to fit dirt bikes and tow the track car and i still have a street car to play with and drive. i have not been to a track day before.. but i cannot drive the car i want to own, the way i want to drive it, on the streets. so therefore i have to go to the track..
  12. i do alot of work with 2mm and 3mm aluminium... i use a bandsaw to cut out most shapes, a die grinder to smooth the edges... than a deburring tool to take the corners off... they are the best things ever!!! bout $20 and they'll last for ever. there are double edged ones that do both sides in one go... but they are double the price.
  13. roy is spot on... build cars for you... not for others... the car is the trophy... and everyone gets to take their trophy home.. dont build cars to win stuff.. because very few people care who actually wins.. its all about the fun and comradery of being around really fast, purpose built cars. no expectations... no disapointments. the other nation.. you know the one.. if (id like to say when) the R34 does tromp them.. they will blame it on OUR track not suiting THEIR cars... hahaha. they will go back to their 52 states and start flogging that our tracks are crap.. and our cars are crap as to suit our crappy tracks.. mwhahaha its not slander if its true. (about them i mean.. not about our tracks or cars)
  14. well then.... can i just say.. THIS IS GOING OT BE AN ABSOLUTE F@#KING WEAPON NOW.... WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. all around the edges is fine to spray... put a plastic bag over your afm and your air filter.. take the engine cover off... do not spray the top of the engine... from the manifolds down you can. just do the top with spray and wipe and a rag.. then cover the whole thing with silicon spray or tyre shine and wipe it off.... this will give it a nice sheen.. but more importantly... will make everything real easy to clean next time.. and the time after that, and the time after that. keep your hoses nicley sheened and it will look good no matter how filthy it actually is.. faded hoses are the worst.
  16. im fascinated by what equipment level different cars run and how they run... i made mention of the cost of the r34 due to the very high equipment level on it... how much they actually spent, im not concerned with.. its what they can do with what they have... and what others can do with what they have... and who comes out on top..
  17. could it possibly need more wheel track?? , remembering im just a keyboard warrior and i know zip, nada, nothing.. ive just always thought the car looked like it needs a bit more track to reduce the weight transfer... its the one thing that the r34 and the competitors seem to have differences in.
  18. im still in the build stage, but ive been playing so far with s14 rack and r33 lca's, i really dont have anything to report though so consider this post useless but im going to keep one side competly stock, wheels and play around with the angles of the other side to get it to be all sweet. no in all seriousness... the boys at ns.com are chopping and rewelding extensions and strengthening their lca's.. i think one guy even has extended 30mm.. they are also drilling new holes in the crossmember and mounting the lcas higher.. could you possibly reinforce the end of the crossmember by boxing it in at the bottom, and drill a closer to the end and higher up than before?? now i know that sydney kid warns against r33 lca's, due to bump steer... but im wondering.. what if you extend everything out by... lets say 30mm... so you add 30mm to your top arm or fabricate a new top mount... or add a 30mm plate behind the original mount, 30mm to your lower arm and 30mm to your tie rod.. keep all the same alignment, but everything extended out 30mm.. then play from there... would that work?? you would have to mount the castor rod at its original angle by drilling new holes in the control arm.. but thats easy. because everything is the same.. would you need rca's?? the longer arms at the same spring height will make the car higher, so youll need to lower it more, but it would be then no different to how it was before... if you get rca's do you need to then do something with the top arm?? having said all that... on one side i have a 17x9 +25 and on the other side i have a 17x8.5 +not sure but less than 20 and the 8.5 sits way more out than the 9 does.. and the 9 has an r33 lca and the 8.5 side has the original r32 lca.
  19. meh... its only got 770 kw at the wheels... if we did that though... we would be no better than them. Rocky was the greatest and he never slandered or downtalked any of his rivals.
  20. awww my gawd maaate... someone stole your ignition barrel!!! top work fellas... if it wasnt for the red bits in the engine bay you'd seriously think this was THE group a car... awesome!!
  21. hahaha, rightio.
  22. just a question... am i the arse clown or is it the reponse on speedhunters that is the arse clown... i dont mind if thats directed at me.. just need clarification is all.. if thats at me.. ive never met mark... and ive certainly never ever attacked mark or said anything bad about him..
  23. interior looks good mate.. real good.
  24. is it not a genuine full sunline dry carbon body kit with a genuine kagatoni front bar??... does it not run a real hollinger gearbox?? was it not already a really clean r34 to start with?? you cannot tell me that there has not been a substantial amount of money invested into this car.. unless it has been with sponsers help.. then it is not a privateer effort. i did not in my post claim that mark is anything more than humble... i think my first line was that this car is a huge credit to him and i love it to bits.. i really hope that the car really shines on the day. as for the video that was posted but shouldnt have been... well i hope the sponser chose the clip to really stoke up the fire in the competitors bellies... lull them into a false sense of security.. but am i wrong in saying the troubles that were had at the last super lap... aka... stability and getting the power down are still being troublesome?? marlin... im not trying to argue... this is the internet afterall.. cheers Linton
  25. please do not get me wrong in saying this... i absolutely love this car to bits... and full credit to the mark and everyone whos helped him along the way... with the 4wd sorted out... it will be an animal.. but.. i can see where this guy is coming from... that video should never have been posted, on here, maybe, as we all know the story behind it, but not on the interweb. It does look scrappy, it looks terrible actually. the japs and seppos are probably pissing themselves given that this is the flagship car for aus, and 2 months out from its home event it looks like that, worse than that though, it doesnt look like much has improved from last year's superlap. and remember folks, that the cyber evo was built in something not much bigger then a single car garage... and by a dentist... it has an estimated power level similar to the GTR... yet from a 2.2L 4cyl which has unbelievable response and acceleration.. the r34 has an 3L. to say that the hi octane gtr is built by mark himself in his shed at home, that doesnt make it an underdog... average joes building extremely tight budget shitters are the underdogs... this GTR has had more money thrown at it than i can be bothered to count up. that is a simple fact... the bodykit and aero alone cost more than i care to think of. watching the vids of the other cars... they all have obscence power levels... yet they look calm and composed on the limit.. they can slide them through the corners and power on with precision and control... the video of the R34 at eastern creek looks like its about to whip around and bite.. under brakes, under power, and mid corner.. so in short... we all know what the r34 is capable of.... and we are all in full support of it and hope it knocks em dead... but based on the video alone.. i cant help but agree with whoever posted that response.. now... so no alcohol... thats fine... no bbqs... thats ok... but can i bring a picnic??
