  1. spotted IRB.26T this morning on newcastle link road, heading towards newy.
  2. it could be ok... obviously its just a concept at this stage and concepts never look good.. but they shouldnt call it a silvia, or compare it to the silvias.. silvias are a 2 dr coupe with an sr20.. take away the sr20 and its no longer a silvia.. the new r35 gtr for me isnt a gtr, it doesnt have the rb26.. a car without its engine is no longer that car, like a person who loses their mind, they are no longer them, no matter what name you call them.
  3. dealers dont want stuff they cant sell... they will ring the whole saler and find out the what its worth, and then take it off your hands for less than that so that they make something out of the whole thing, even if its only $50.. most dealers wont touch a skyline as the kind of people that buy skylines, dont go to car yards.. or more over, the people that go to car yards dont buy skylines.. they dont care about modifications, how many thousands you've spent, they just care if they can move it.
  4. buy my r32, i wasnt planning to sell it but just bought a house and need to focus on that at the moment. i have been setting it up for drift, but havent actually drifted it.. and with oran park closing down, im turning my attention away fom drift and more to superlap, so a gtr build up is in the planning. cusco coilovers, hicas bar, cradle bushes, all coolant lines, radiator and thermostat, waterpump replaced, head pulled off and checked, replaced head gasket, safc 2, 300zx afm, kakimoto turbo back exhaust, hdi fmic, 122000kms, 100000km service done, bought as a complete stocker in october 08, sept 09 rego. its in your price range pm me if your interested at all.. im happy to hang on to it for a while, when it sells it sells. it wont be getting driven much. cheers Linton
  5. work meisters 18x9.5 or 10 +35 rear and 18x8.5 or 9 fronts
  6. in reality, its not worth it mate.. the seat weighs stuff all, its foam and material, around a small steel frame... usually around 10kg. 10L of fuel also weighs 10kg.. just dont fill it all the way and you'll get the same effect.. better actually as the tank is behind the rear axle. you can remove all of the sound deadener and put your carpet and seat back in, the sound deadener is pretty heavy, i removed nearly 9kg just in the rear seat section alone.. that plus the seat would be 20kg i know, id rather the seat than sound deadener.. i havent got to under the front seats yet. when i had the seat out, the noise was getting to be unbearable, not exhaust noise, but road noise, tyre noise, couldnt hear the stereo and couldnt hold a conversation at a comfortable level.. the seat went back in and didnt notice a lick of difference in handling or performance.
  7. you'd best get it out... you could try winding the engine over with out the plugs and see if it flies out... wear safety glasses though.. chances are it will break into more tiny pieces and just remove itself... but it could also damage a valve or embed itself in the piston... bit extreme but it would be sad to pull it down because of a tiny piece of ceramic. i had a piece of aluminium from the throttle slide go through my wr400.. it was a substantial chunk, no dramas, it just squashed up with the heat and compression and spat it out the exhaust..
  8. spotted real nice black r32 gtr heading through thornton then down the freeway... very clean with white/polished dish rims.. looked like work equips or similar.
  9. that was an idea... but they are getting fairly thin on the ground.. i could get an r33 engine and go over it before dropping it in, but then it would be a 32 with a 33 engine... which doesnt sit well with me.. i think the original engine, provided its death hasnt cause too much destruction will be fine with a few new components... especially for what i want it to do, which is to sit in the shed pretty much. thank you for the short answer... that was all i was after... i will venture down other paths.
  10. lol... you're kidding me right?? pm r33, i saw your feature in hpi, your car is impressive, not to my taste but its your car... it has gone beyond simple bolt on mods.. your car would start to spool up when his is dying off... last time i looked, i didnt see any r33 gtst's in superlap... or time attack in japan... or production car cups... or rallying... and they are very rarely seen in targa style events and hilll climbs... so you had a bit of fun with him in a straight line yeh?? wow.. 215-220@all four is extremely mild and has no need for a fuel system upgrade yet, not if he has an sti engine... which vf does he have?? as sti's already came with a much larger turbo than the standard vf20 on the rex's. ive seen a stock looking (clearly engine wasnt stock) my99 wagon do a u turn and then light up all four wheels by just standing on it, not dumping the clutch... just putting the foot down... i have been impressed by wrx's ever since.
  11. the are only 400 22b's in the world... priced at around $100000... i dont think your mate wrapped one of them around a pole... an sti coupe maybe.
  12. thanks for the replies... i would prefer to find one in aus... however i want one in completly original condition. by tidy i mean straight.. paint will be being freshened up while the engine is out, bushes and some suspension components will be replaced at the same time.. basically i want a stock, accident free gtr, that doesnt have cutouts for strut braces, gauges mounted in the dash, 300km speedos, etc.. even if everythings stock, but clapped out.. most of it will be refreshed to make it like it just rolled out of the factory. ive seen some here in aus for $25000 and some for below $15000... most of them however are modified.. $25000 to $30000 will get me a late model v spec.. but for 15 years it could have had a tortured life and the engine may give way on the drive home.. so id rather, for piece of mind, rebuild the engine and replace all the sensors, etc. ive seen one go for $10000 that needed a rebuild and some slight panel work... time frame is not an issue, labour and workshops arent an issue. i wasnt after replys on my idea... just if those cars ever came up at auctions..
  13. hey all, so im doing some planning and budgeting to get an r32 gtr in a year.. ive decided that i want to freshen the engine up anyway, so im wondering how often does an immaculate or tidy stock gtr come up for sale in japan with a dead or almost dead engine?? roughly looking at spending $10ish on the car and $5-10 on the engine... as opposed to buying a tidy 25g gtr and having it blow up the next day.. the rebuild will be using standard components, to standard specs, nothing fancy.. but just to give piece of mind. are these cars even eligable for import or sale?? cheers Linton
  14. sorry, i thought rb's ran at 15 degrees... not all nissans... but turns out not all rb's run at 15.
  15. love it.. i gave my mrs a set of volks for her birthday... she didnt look anywhere near as happy as yours does to get a radiator.. i also offered her a bride seat.. told her it was the closest she was going to get to being one for a while... she didnt like that much either.
  16. looks like ill have to keep the r32 for a bit longer... and shmick it up a bit. sounds like a great day
  17. the only way for it to be out is if the cam wheel has slipped, been installed incorrectly, or has aftermarket cam gears.. you do not have to pull the motor out, however doing the timing belt, although not difficult, is one of the largest jobs you can do on your car.. and requires a bit of knowledge about it and some specialist tools.. timing belts are not an area you want to get wrong, or pull down again to fix something.. a simple belt change could mean death for the engine. pull the cam belt cover off and line up the timing marks, it will only need to be out 1 tooth to be 5 degrees out.. which can be a simple fix by getting the belt slack in the right place... sometimes when the belt is installed, it appears right, but when running it can stretch and settle in and be a little bit out.. this is why aftermarket belts like gatres, hks, and greddy are worth the money, they dont stretch.. prick to put on, but worth it. to do it yourself, and do it with care... it will take the better part of a day.. and its a good time to change drive belts, and water pump.. if you wanna be fussy, do your cam and crank seals aswell. i thought nissans ran at 15 degrees at idle?? speaking of idle... what is your idle set at??
  18. do you guys have $60 floating around in your bank account with my user name attached to it?? i paid for my membership, and faxed it 2 weeks before super lap... so over a month now.. can you either find the money and give it back, or make me a member??
  19. if your planning on building a car for superlap... then why cant you still hang on to the r1?? as far as superlap cars go... $11000 is small change. one day, maybe a year or so from now, you'll want to take it out for a fang, and there it will be, in its capsule type cover, just waiting.. its not worth selling unless you really have to.. im guessing youve spent close to what you want for it on the parts alone. people pay more for art, that just hangs on the wall and does sweet f/a, that thing is both art, and exciting id pay $11000 just to have it in the garage, sitting on pit stands.
  20. why oh why oh why do people insist on putting 20" rims on a gtr. keep the stock suspension, keep the stock wheels, spend the money on semi slick tyres.
  21. not nececelery... the bov would have been being sucked down at idle by the vacuum... and then when boosting, yeh it would be overfueling and popping a bit more than normal but if it was done up, just not tight, it would have been a small leak and hardly noticable except for the noise.
  22. i didnt "cancel" it because i didnt "organise" it... i simply stated what I was doing, and if anyone wanted to come, thats what was happening.. the week leading up to the day... i had to rip the head off my r32 and replace the gasket.. i got it going friday night, but wasnt willing to get halfway down the putty and have something happen... with or without other cars.. kpgc10... i apologise for you being left there for an hour.. and i apologise for posting the day before.. there was a bit of interest in the other thread, but none in this thread, i thought you would have seen that you were the only other in this thread. i also thought it was common sense that when attending something that has been organised on here, that you check back as regularly as possible in order to see updates etc. besides that mate.... you posted after i had already said my plans had changed and that if anyone else goes, to have a good time... so yes, look at when i posted last... the fact that you dont check on here every 2 secs is irrelevant.. because my post was already there.. i didnt cancel the cruise.. i just said i couldnt make it.
  23. thats not such a bad idea really... i paid $500 for a half day rally school... in which i got to drive an 4ac powered ae86... twice, for 5 min, and an 02 sti.. twice, for 5 min... there were 15 other gits who did the exact same thing.. then there was another "class" coming through that afternoon... to do the same thing. 30 x 500 = $15000... in one day. whether you are able to get races or not paul... you cannot sell this car.. you will regret it.. you have spent too much time and put in too much effort to sell it.. like you say, the recent additions alone have cost you $25000, so how long will it take you to have the money to buy the car off you.. so to speak? put it aside, put a car cover over it, forget its there until the bub grows up... the car is done now.. you dont have to spend anymore money on it... it will not cost you anything to keep it, whether its driven or not.. you'll never be able to get it back again, or build another like it (unless you really hate money) cheers Linton
  24. its the wheels on the nur.. the shadow type chrome and the few skinny spokes dont suit the colour or the shape of the 34 like a fat flat 5 spoke does.. and the ride height makes a huge difference. he needs to get some work meisters or ssr professors with black centres, or millenium jade.
