  1. good stuff mate... might actually start reading zoom again.. it needs something.. im not sure what it is... maybe less drag cars or less all out power cars... and less chrome bits.. they all seem to be just big shiny engines in weird cars like bluebirds and xb falcons.. or less autos and more manuals.. and more real world articles. i like tarmac... it seems to be a decent, unbiased mag with cars that go round corners.... as for the extra mags, it a distributor thing i think.. i subscribe to hpi and i dont get em. but if you buy it off the shelf, you do, but newso's wouldnt have time to wrap em up like that, nor would they care. cheers Linton
  2. i love these limiters... but i like my engine more... its basically the same sorta thing as antilag but different.. haha. engines/turbos hate antilag i would think that setting 1 would be loud as i think its the longest delay so more fuel would be pumped into it and a bigger bang. the higher the setting, the shorter the cut, the more frequent but less violent bangs.
  3. n1 rods are same as v spec apparantly.. which are same as normal rb26 rods arent they?? only n1 engine changes were turbos and mapping.
  4. this is very unlike sydneykid.. hes always been a champ. my work shut down over christmas also and had taken deposits for parts etc.. but let them know that were shutting down etc. hope all ends well though.
  5. im out, will be in sydney for long weekend
  6. newy cops are having field hours at the moment.. since sunday ive seen groups of 5 highway patrols all together... saw them sunday, monday morning, monday arvo, this morning and this afternoon.... have also heard that many more people are actually getting done for dui instead of getting let through..
  7. hey guys, i think ive found my a/c fault thanks to finding some dodgy wiring to skip around the problem.. theres a fault in the wire that goes from the a/c relay to the a/c amplifier... whoever diagnosed it first thought it was just an earth wire and grounded it, but i think theres more to it.. so where is this a/c amplifier?? is it near the ecu or in the engine bay somewhere?? cheers Linton
  8. ahhh i was not aware that it was on at the same time, f1 is also on in melbourne i was thinking spectators... not competitors.
  9. p.s. for those that dont know what superlap is, go here http://www.superlap.com.au/ its just like the time attack that the japs love so much.
  10. hey guys... after the catastrophe that was our newy meet up, bakes and i thought of doing another putty cruise.. so heres an idea. Superlap is on March 29.. should be some awesome cars there this year after the success of the event last year. its at oran park... which from newy, on good freeway run is around 3.5hrs.. which is the same time its takes via the putty.. and its much more fun. i have left oran park at 3.30 and made it home to newcastle by 6.30... obeying the road rules. it would mean leaving newi early... say 6ish, from hexham maccas.. up the highway to Branxton, turn off and head to Broke, and then get on the putty from there. its a straight run to oran park from there... very few turn offs.. and very little traffic. maybe we could get a group pass/discount type of thing to the event. its 68 days to the event, so plenty of time to get this organised.. ive done early morning putty runs and it is spectacular... with the sun just coming up and shining through the trees, low clouds sleeping in, birds waking up, and very little traffic... its almost magical, and well worth getting up for. add to that, the sound of a group a skylines and it will be a cruise you will want to do every year. lets keep it strictly skylines.. and if your from central coast or north.. its up to you if you want join in. lets get some ideas rolling and get this settled and moved to the events section cheers Linton
  11. if its all cars... ill be staying away from this one. always ends badly.. always gets idiots.
  12. no worries, we'll do it again another day. hope alls good. bakes, yeh i live in rose st.. just up the road from where i turned off at selwyn st.
  13. are you saying im a failure?? all the cars ive ever owned ive been happy with.. ive never been dissapointed because ive never been beaten... or spent thousands to get only a second quicker. i know whats under my bonnet, i know what my car does and it makes me happy... is that failing?? im not tryin because i already am.
  14. ok guys.... what the hell happened here?? 3 of us turned up! its a great day for a cruise etc. and it was worth the drive just to check out bakes r34... gonna save extra hard now for a gtr.. 2 min noodles for the rest of the year for me.. haha. but still... sam29.... where were you?? dirt, you are excused. we'll organise another proper cruise when it gets cooler. cheers Linton
  15. yeh its still on.. as far as i know.. ill be there.
  16. soooo whats happening tomorrow?? meet and greet at hexham maccas at 10.30..... and den???
  17. hinton pub is probs, max 20 to 30min from hexham... paterson pub another 10min from there... if it rains.... hmmm... i dunno... bring a rain coat??
  18. have you still got the rims mate??
  19. did you get brand new afms???
  20. afm. my r32 did this... it would cut out and stutter and screw around.. sometimes not let past 2500, sometimes just cut out randomly... usually when pulling out or overtaking. got a brand new one and havent had prob since.
  21. are gtr swaybars bigger than gtst bars?? im also a fan of decent tyres so ill get some 17s and semi slicks asap just for shits and giggles... grip and handling may be different things, but no amount of stiffening and suspension tuning can make up for balloons attatched to my skinny rims. paid a bit more attention on the way home yesterday and it wobbles when the weight changes.. but feels flat not tilted which points at tyres.. had the same on my 31 years ago, it had 215/65/r14 on 14x5.5" rims... not hard to see why it was wobbling around.
  22. that sounds good.. im not one for giving blood usually... i want to, but get mad woozy and stuff when i did years ago... but ill give it a go if i have to. im keen for a cruise... might have to get my a/c sorted first, haha. sooo where to?? paterson pub has some damn good hamburgers... and hinton pub does a mean steak n chips.. haha.. they are a bit out of the way but a nice cruise... no traffic and nice scenery... and if we are at hexham its not far anyway. cheers Linton
  23. you have made sense sir... anti roll bars it is. thanks
  24. thanks for your responses.. it feels like, and excuse my lack of proper terms, that through a corner, the front end is being pulled by the weight of the body rolling over the top of the wheel, and the large sidewall of the tyre lets its get up momentum, and overcomes the grip of the tyre.. its not like any understeer that ive felt before where the weight of the car is pushing from behind the front wheel and pushing the car wide. hence why i was wondering about increasing the castor angle, to make the weight push from behind the wheel instead of over the top of it. also the same about the wheel track.. if i increase the wheel track, that will change the roll centre.. and the body will roll about within the wheel track and try and push the wheels... not over the top of them and trying to pull the wheels. and if i get lower profile tyres/wider or bigger rims, that will lessen the sidewall flex should make it more responsive cheers Linton
  25. yes you're right, its not a fair comparo... what i should have said was.. drifting was much easier and more controllable with the stretched 235s as it felt much stiffer and more responsive in the back end.. that was without spinning the wheels until after the apex where power was starting to be applied and yes, the 235s had much less grip which made power oversteer much easier..
