  1. hey all.. im trying to find what rims were available in 1989 when the r32's were just brought out... the look im going for is ol skool drift.. no outrageous body mods, big wings, etc... and no 18" flashy rims.. just plain and simple.. like an ae86 with longchamps or a dr30 with watanabes back then, 17's were considered huge so 16-17s will be my limit... i like the ssr mesh type but the missus says they are fugly.. ive flicked through all my hpi mags etc but they are late 90s/early 2000s onwards.. anyone got any other ideas?? or pics of old school 32s?? cheers Linton
  2. just a little add on... look at the tyres... most enthusiasts who look after their gtr will spoil it with some decent rubber.. not necessarily semi slicks but not nexans or nankangs or something.. also depending on what colour your getting.. ive seen a few grey ones (including mine) that the paint is literally wearing away.. meaning a respray. it also helps to prepare yourself if things do go bang... you may buy the most pristine example that just happens to have had its time.. not a reflection on you or the previous owner, things just happen. its all good and well to buy your gtr, but you have to be able to afford to own it, and a 15yr old sports car will go bang eventually, get a spare RB26, freshen it up and sit it in the corner.. i will be in the same position as you in a year or two... after im done with my 32 gtst i plan on getting an FD, then i will get my gtr when i have a nice garage for it to sleep in. good luck mate, all the best.
  3. if this is indeed what youve done, drain some out asap... it will be churning up the oil and aerating it... causing it to be more like whipped cream than pouring cream. it will also pressurise the sump causing more blowby and more oil consumption... being that the turbo runs on bushes, with aerated oil, this will wear causing oil into the turbo, hence you oil dripping from the bottom of the cooler.. and also running rough as the engine tries to burn the amount of oil coming in... fouling the plugs etc.. will happen worse with boost. it also does wonders the already fragile oil pump as it cavitates away trying to pump the whipped oil. when it comes to engine oil, or any other fluids, its ok to admit defeat if you dont know what you are doing.. ive had to go over an entire brake system when someone put engine oil the brake fluid in a euro car because they couldnt figure out the picture on the cap... dont under estimate a simple top up, its too easy to get wrong.
  4. oh no that wasnt TWO.06L.... that was TWOOGLE... hahaha... silly magazines... hmm gtr with 26L plates... nah it must say twoogle saw a nice blue r32 gtst past sandgate this morning. also saw a kickass hachi trueno at avalon yesterday and saturday... pig.513 (guess he used to own an s13) plates, longchamp rims, bride seats, nardi wheel, white with a matte black bonnet... classic look.. there was a green levin aswell, with mismatch rims... looked awesome. cheers Linton
  5. did you spill some into the coilpack area?? i second that no oil can do that on its own.. only if it gets in somewhere its not meant to, or its soo thin that its getting into the cylinders.. maybe your turbo seals are kapoot.. thinner oil seeping in there, boost seeping out etc. mine did this when my seals went. and for the record... i use repsol competion elite... never had a problem.. $68 for 5L.
  6. not hard at all mate.. get it down to the timing belt, pull it off, pull the crank pulley off, and there it is. bout 10 bolts around it, pull it off, new one on, doesnt need to be timed or anything... just needs to be primed which ive been told you can do with vasoline but i used to do it by tipping oil down the hole where the filter screws on.. put all the stuff back on, check for correct pressure and no leaks and you're done. cheers Linton
  7. there is a thread on here if you search that gives a step by step guide i think.. maybe thats rb25 turbo. im also doing going to be doing this with a stock vg30 turbo on my rb20... on my previous 33 i put a hi flowed vg30 turbo on and ran it at 17psi.. all i can say is it went!! i had bend one of the lines around... cant remember if it was water or oil.. just did it very gently with pliers wrapped and taped up so as not to damage it. worked fine. as far as bolting the turbo up, it is all the same.. just not sure of the turbo outlet like you say. cheers Linton
  8. me likey
  9. could it be that your pump has shit itself??
  10. ive seen a blue r34 gtr at the toy shop a fair bit... well, the three times ive been there lately,. its been there... ive also saw it out my window at work at thornton. maybe its the company parts getter... with the toy shops prices... it wouldnt suprise me. the white r32 on hillsborough road looks tidy... nice stance, the wheels suit it... looks good. didnt really spot anyone yesterday except the central coast guys
  11. +1 on the carlsburg!! haha... ill be in melbourne, just for shits and giggles... ive never really done new years before, probs still wont, but ill be in melbourne at that time, maybe at a jazz club or something, but most likely in bed.. i like to end the year early and wake up to a nice brand new year. isnt it funny.... a new year is just like when you used to get all your new books for school... and you'd start off neat and plan to keep it that way.. and towards the end of the first week... its all farked up again anyway. cheers Linton
  12. unlucky for them.. cant say ive ever been there though.. where was it??
  13. its coming out ok now, dammit, need to wash it now, hahaha, and there werent too many people at the foreshore, there may be later though.
  14. roger that, thanks mate.
  15. hey guys, just wired up my safc2 into my 32, all good, no dramas with its operation, except it holds the displays at peak value.. not real time.. and i cant find out how to change it so its showing what its doing, not what i did 5 min ago. eg.. cruising down the street doing 50 in 3rd, bout 2000rpm or so.... and it just tells me that 2 min ago i was doing 6000rpm.. anyone know how to change this?? and while we're at it, just to make sure, the afm signal is meant to be set at 1-1 for an rb20 yeh?? what about for a z32 afm?? and also.. with the books i got with my first safc2 ages ago.... its got a pre made fuel map for an r33 rb25det... showing original afr and the the tuned one, its quite detailed showing each step and for low and hi throttle aswell as everything else, obviously its in japanese, and i cant find the same thing on the apexi usa site.. anyone know if this map is for a standard car or what mods its for?? and if it would be ok to tune the rb20 to similar values?? considering the safc isnt the greatest and the rb25 is only a smidgen bigger with a bigger turbo. will be getting a wide band o2 sensor for future on-road tuning, as its my daily and would be good to be able to monitor and adjust things on the go, depending on weather, fuel type, future mods etc. cheers Linton
  16. are these the silicone hoses??
  17. i think from memory its a bit of tight fit getting the gearbox in and out on a 33... depending on the efficientness of your chosen mechanic, they should have the box out in an hour, 10 min to have old clutch out, 30 min to have new clutch in and lined up, and an hour to get the box back in... twin plate clutch will have the flywheel so yours can get scrapped.. so you dont have to wait to get it machined clutches are really a simple job, its just the big heavy gbox that slows it down.. exhaust off, driveshafts off, 8 bell housing bolts, gearbox crossmember, disconnect wiring, remove clutch. cheers Linton
  18. thats a decent price for tuning i dont think ill have that ready in early dec, considering i just got the safc and still have to get afm and clutch.. and its already the end of movember.. i have access to an on car air/fuel meter so ill probs be the guy you decribe... will only have myself to blame when my engine goes pop... but it will pop in style if it does. hahaha. my mate with the wrx has taken off to s.a. for work and wont be back until christmas.. which is unfortunate. cheers Linton
  19. i think i may have incorrectly titled this thread and thus its not getting any attention.. i know there would be a few guys who would be up for a kit too.
  20. thats what im talking bout.. tyres that do yoga 5 times a week. i had 235s on a 9.5 and thought it was a good stretch... took my "mate" at the tyre shop 15 goes to get one on.. he wasnt too happy when i came in 2 weeks later to get them replaced. haha
  21. hey all, picture this, friday arvo, nice and warm... just leave work, give it a little punch coming onto the highway to celebrate the weekend... and next minute, the temp gauge is sky rocketing and unfortunatly traffic is banked up for miles... one of my heater hoses had split at the back of the engine, i pulled over, let her cool down and moved her up the road to a more secure spot to check the water etc. limped her home when it was a bit cooler, constantly checking water levels and everything was normal, still coolant in the system, no massive air bubbles and it ran fine so it should be all good. just wondering if anyone knows of a silicone hose kit for the rb20?? or would an rb26 replace most of the hoses?? i want to replace all the coolant lines as they are all the same age and i dont want the same thing to happen next friday arvo... or on the track. price isnt a concern, id rather choose to spend a few hundred on a good hose kit, then have to spend a few hundred doing the head gasket. cheers Linton
  22. get this... my car drives fine for the 1/2 hour trip i do to work everyday... not a problem... come night time though, when me and my g/f go for a drive, it happens all the time... cant boost it or anything, freaking annoying, just dont think the car likes her, which is fine with me, she is taking up cage space. check the afm wiring, that its not shorting out somewhere. cheers Linton
  23. if it falls through, ill definatly take it, pm me cheers Linton
  24. dirt, roughly how much are we looking at?? hopefully ill have all i need to start to get a rough tune happening (safc, z32 afm, and clutch), also may have a wrx guy interested with vf34, power fc, and injectors that will need tuning.
  25. hahaha... unbelievable!
