Item: 1999 Yamaha WR400f Age: 1999 soooo, 9 yrs i guess Condition: excellent for a dirt bike. has a few scuffs and scratches but nothing major Price: $4500 ono Location: Newcastle, NSW Contact: Linton on 0431 646 160 or email [email protected] Comments: Fantastic bike... always looked after to the best of my ability, serviced regularly, has a few mods, like, higashi stainless exhaust, throttle derestricted, yz timing change, yz tank and seat and plastics, led tail light. it has May 09 rego, and is in full road trim, all lights and blinkers work great. unsure of kms as speedo cable broke ages ago and sent speedo haywire. only thing wrong is it will require 2 new tyres shortly.. bout $100 each for knobblys, i cant afford to get them to be honest as ive just bought an r32 and it needs a few things too. i was planning on making it a motard, but its too much fun off road. will email pics as i dont know how to upload them. cheers Linton

Kakimoto Rb20 Computer
NZM.031 replied to streetslider's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
im keen for it... but i gotta tidy up a few things like afm, coil packs and clutch first. will let you know when thats done. -
i was gonna head down, but yeh the weather didnt look good.. and i was having fun in the wet in the 32... soo much fun. aza.. say gday to simon for me. cheers Linton

hey guys, im just tidying up a few things on the r32 i just bought and found a few loose connectors but cant see anywhere where they connect to.. and i know that they should be connected. one is the a/c pressue switch that is the wiring that is near the sight glass on the a/c reciever/dryer and goes behind the RHS headlight. and comes out just near the battery... mine just stops there and i cant find anywhere for it to connect to. it needs to be connected and im hoping this is the reason why my a/c isnt working. also, the ambient temp sensor for the a/c... its normally mounted near the condensor on other cars... but i cant find it.. i have a loose connector where i think it should be which is between the LHS chassis rail and the condensor. is it somewhere else on the r32s or is mine missing... this may also have an effect on why my a/c is playing up. i'd really appreciate it if someone could just duck out to their car and have a peek and trace the wiring back to where it goes so i can try and find it. cheers Linton

Cutting In And Out Of Power At High Rpms - What's Up?
NZM.031 replied to benro2's topic in General Maintenance
im with you mate, currentlyt having dramas with a 32 i just bought. have you checked your coilpacks?? at 80000kms is about when they let go... and if you upped the boost, they would have been struggling to manage, and if youve replaced the plugs with iridiums then again... they will be working that bit harder. also, sometimes if you get the problem quick enough and then wind the boost down... it can be a temporary fix... but if it does damage and they crack the silicon stuff around them then they are just about dead... you can eleco tape them up to get around but not a good fix either. also try gapping the plug down a bit. 0.8 is a good point as standard skylines run 1.1mm, means the coils dont have to build up as much spark to cross the gap. also it could be an air leak. heck, it could be lots of things, but start with the simple and obvious is always good. cheers Linton -
R32 Rb20... Very Random Surge/cutting Out At 100kms/hr
NZM.031 replied to NZM.031's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeh ill check that too, thanks. the problem isnt soo much what it is... its the randomness that it does it.... if it did it every time it boosted.. or every 40* day, or when its raining or anything... as long as its consistant... but this is not, i drove it out to east maitland and back, bout an hour trip all up... didnt make a peep... same running conditions as freeway. grrrrr.... i hate these intermittant problems!! cheers Linton -
hi guys.. so i picked up my new to me r32 gtst yesterday... very happy with it, even though not as tidy as i had hoped driving through sydney... no worries.. has the little stall out problem like all rb's but no dramas otherwise. get it on the freeway though... cruising back to newcastle at 110kms/h... it would cut out... exactly like it was running out of fuel. hitting the throttle wouldnt do anything but i could get two throttle pushes in before it would come good, and then it would do it again... and then it would come good for a while longer. in the hour and 30 min it was on the freeway, it did it about 4 times.. temps and pressures are all ok, it happened in 5th gear, up a slight hill, but even on a descent... and just as it was coming up to atmospheric pressure.. not boosting or vacuum. aka, 0 on the stock boost guage. the car is stock apart from a pod, 3" turbo back exhaust, and a hybrid fmic. thats seriously all it has.. no boost controller, no a/m bov. i dont know much about the car yet and im not as familiar with the problems of an rb20 like i am with the rb25, but the service history is up to date, and from what the previous owner said, he has got any problems fixed up asap. i have a few ideas as to what it could be.. afm, bov leaking, air leak somewhere, overfuelling due to fmic, coilpacks, plugs, earthing problem, ecu problem, or even battery problem. but its late now and i cant be stuffed looking at it, so i figured id put it on here and check the responses, then have a look tomorrow. cheers Linton

it will clear up.. my mates 180 did that sooo many times.... and sooo many times we forgot that everytime it happened it would take 10 min nearly to clear it all up and start running normal. i think its a mix of running extremely rich due to the pipe blowing off, then fouling the plugs so they cant fire properly, and the ecu going crazy trying to fix everything up.
-
rightio.... ill need to be saving some $$ for fuel action then if we're all heading down first, hahaha.
-
someone will tell me im wrong if im wrong... i had a safc2, it was great in my 33.. you can have 2 maps in the safc 2, not sure bout safc 1... its a bit of mucking around to change the maps over, but still handy if its your daily driver.

hey all, just wondering are the newcastle guys heading down and then coming back up the putty, or are we gonna start at this end and head down and meet in the middle??

Hks Camshafts Into Rb20 Researched, One Last Question
NZM.031 replied to 335's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ahhh dont you just love reading old threads... no in all this no cams, yes cams business.... has anybody considered wank factor into anything?? the first mods anybody should do is bee r rev limiter and some cams... just for the sheer fun and shits and giggles of having a lumpy idle and dumping flames with everyone talking about power curves, and flow testing, and comparing the rb20 to an rb26... noone has considered the enjoyment and the sound of hearing a lumpy arse rb engine.. barely idling away and shaking the whole car.. maybe the cams are a waste of money power wise.. but who really cares.. will it drop in power?? i know people that have spent $700 on the hks metal flow air filter when it first came out years ago... it made bugger all difference over the super power flow it replaced, but the sucking sound was more audible, hence making it more fun, hence not such a waste of money at the end of the day... cars should not be measured by a dyno sheet... a 400m time... a lap time... or (if you drive a lancer) an spl reading... cars should be measured by the smile on the owners face.. thats what counts. cams are awesome and there should be more of em. cheers Linton -

haysey, thats fine for you mate.. and im all for insurance.. but most of my mates dont a lazy $2000 to cough up for my excess or repairs if something goes wrong.. and they also get to drive away in their own car, meanwhile im stuck with a damaged car to be repaired, whether they pay for it, organise, it, do it themselves, whatever, im still without a car. it also comes down to the fact that its my car.. i pay for it, i want it, i like it, i dont need to show it off to anyone, i dont need to prove anything to anyone, if my mrs wants a skyline to drive... she has a job, she can get a loan like everyone else, or save up and get her own. she prefers manolos though. i prefer to think about the worst before doing something... rather than sit there, smoke coming from the bonnet, front all smashed up, and have someone say "sorry mate, i wasnt expecting that to happen", having said that... i dont drive mates cars either, even if they want me to, because i cant afford their excess or repairs. guilt toy, yes you did sell me that t3/t4 vg30det, hybrid, imbred, monged up turbo and farrrrrrrk me did it hammer with it... 3rd gear wheelspin coming on boost at 4500rpm.. the next owner after me took it off as it was a bit too much for him to handle. the injectors were nearly 100% with the bosch pump and shitloads of fuel pressure... i did the dodgy and cranked the ecu up to near on max fuel and then leaned it out with boost... i dont know how the engine didnt go bang. ahhh to be young and stupid again. hey dave, yeah still hitting the gym, i go to finance first at kotara now. i work my way up to 80kg then something happens and i cant go for a month and i drop back to 75 or less. soo frustrating. i just wanna crack 80kg. i saw you at coles at the junction the other day, you just walked in as i was on my way out over the other side with lots of shopping, didnt have time to trek over and say gday, wanted to though. you can tag along on the putty cruise if you want, hopefully should have one by then... are you still looking for a trail bike?? i got 2 for sale. cheers Linton -
the best thing my 33 came had from japan was a funky flashing interior light.. it had a couple of l.e.d's that would slowly flash blue and red and green, like they were dancing... its awful and awesome at the same time... and a shiteload of coinage and pencils when i stripped the interior. I also found some hungarian ham wedged down the side of the boot when i stripped it out, was from coles deli dunno how long it had been there... didnt unwrap it, didnt look at it, just got rid of it.

and i hope i do have a car by the 19th... that would be great... gotta sell my bikes first though.. so if anyone wants a 2003 Kawaskai KX250 motocross bike - $3800 or a 1999 WR400 enduro bike (with Rego and Leaner legal) - $4500 i cant wait to get to some events... last one i went to was the show n shine at the entrance in 2005 i think. too long. -

haha... it was 50-50 on the skyline thing... she loved the car.. but not me going out at 3am, and it was a cop target and my numberplate was on a list with others at the cop shop, i was going nuts in it and bound to end up with it gone, or me in jail, or worse, so it had to go. that was a long time ago now though.. ive grown up alot. since the skyline though, i had a 300rwkw VY SS ute... and after that, an 02' WRX wagon, with 160awkw. the rex drifted better than the ute... hahaha, damn holdens. cheers Linton -
hello everyone.. as per the topic title... i did it... i got up the courage, prepared myself for the worst and went for it.. and she said yes! what?? did you all think i proposed?? hahaha, im an idiot, but i aint stupid. its been 3 long years since i gave up my skyline addiction cold the sphincter of the universe.. but im now a bit older, a bit wiser, and dont have quite as much money to blow on cars.. shes giving me a chance to show i can be trusted with another skyline. so im on the lookout for a clean... lightly modified R32 gtst.. around the 10g mark.. im still allowed to drift it, and modify for it more for drift.... but its not allowed to be a drift pig unfortunatly. man ive missed skylines... i miss the sounds and the feel of driving one, and heading out at 2am for a putty run to windsor maccas for breakfast and then back again... those were the days. i havent been on this site since i sold my 33 in november '05 and ive missed it ever since, but i was getting in waaaaaay too much trouble and had spent waaaaaaay too much money on it. its great to see so many new names... and its great to see some familiar old ones. cheers Linton

NZM.031 replied to HuH's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
its a sad and sureal feeling to watch your pride and joy drive away with someone else... its also an unbelievable feeling when your driving away in a new car, especially something as nice as this 32. i was 2 weeks away from having enough money to make you a decent offer. oh well... not meant to be. -
R33 Running Sluggish At Full Throttle
NZM.031 replied to shotter's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
gday mate, i used to have a 95 r33... some of the 95's are a series 1.5, they are a series 1 shape, but have a series 2 engine. which can be a pain when people tell you ser1 problems and cures, that ser2 might not have. my 33 had a similar problem.. took nearly 9 months to find it. we tried all sorts of tuning, coils, plugs, fuel issues... turned out it was a very fine split, on the underside of the hot intercooler pipe that goes through the body, just under the pod. vibration had caused it to cut very finely and just enough to play with things, but not gush out completly... it wasnt until it cut all the way through and wouldnt run that i found it. it would run and idle ok, boost it though and it would rich up so much that it wouldnt run. just a thought... hope its something simple like that... i spent thousands... had a nice package by the end, but it was all for the wrong reasons and sold it not long after it got going properly... wish i didnt but anyway. cheers Linton -
man thats clean.. i want it.. just dont got none cash moneys.. dont got none garage either.. but man thats a tidy example. good luck with the sale mate.
