jap spec drift tyre fitting?
NZM.031 replied to mr 32 4door's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i have stretched tyres on mine, 235s on a 9 inch rim... the widest rim you can put a 235 on is 9.5" before it becomes a drama. i used to have 255s on the back, since going the 235s i noticed alot better handling and response from the rear end. the wheels are easy to spin and are alot more controllable while spinning and while sideways. i dont have time to check tyre wear levels as i run high pressures in my tyres and a bit of neg camber. also rear tyres are lucky to last over a month. cheers Linton -
ooo der put dat der barrier der aiii??? ive seen an integra hit a wall like that from inside the car... you dont realise how fast accidents happen until you see it from inside the car.

Do BNR33 strut braces fit BNR32?
NZM.031 replied to Nismo32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
im not sure about the gtrs.... but i got my strut brace off an R32 gtst....fits my R33 gtst fine. not a problem. cheers Linton -
are you 100% sure they are both gtsts??? as in have seen them up close with bonnets up?? have any pics of under bonnets??? the black one dead set looks like a GTE, definatly not a type m. go the grey one....for $2000 you could pick up another RB20, for another $1500 you could pick up an RB25 even. and you can go for a strap straight of the boat and enjoy it.. sounds good, looks good.. dont have to spend money on the basic straight up things... the brakes look like the standard calipers, type m's had bigger better brakes. they may have just been painted red. cheers Linton

your brother works for Nismo?? riiiiiight.....and i work for TRD. even for a small toyota dealer it is required by toyota that we dont get jack shit from spares, everything from cable ties to scotch locks have to be booked out, i cant get any sort of discounts either unless its my own car and its booked in.... i dare say Nismo would be much much worse than that. what part of campbelltown has a nismo dealer??? i didnt think there were any nismo distributors in australia either. this thread has gone wack... and stop typing like you're on msn....your not talking to 15 yr olds here. use some correct grammer and wording too....i cant understand a frickin thing you are saying. i went through campbelltown by accident on my way to the airport....never again! Cheers Linton

400r bar actually looks good on a 32....dont like the wang though. ill have a play around later and post it up.. cheers Linton

cant say i rate the rex....a mate just bought one, stock except for springs and shocks and swaybars. goes hard until about 5000rpm, goes unreal through corners....but that soon gets boring...and when the tyres start to really get hot and sweaty they under steer like a pig. really boring car to drive after about 5 min. 33s are alot different to the 32s....the interior is nicer, the entire car is nicer...might not look as sporty, but overall a much nicer, user friendly car....RB25 is alot better than the RB20...good spread of torque, makes cruising nice. R32 GTR is a different kettle of fish altogether...if you can get a clean, fairly stockish one, you shouldnt have any more problems then you will with any other car. only problem is when something does break...it will cost 3 times more than the RB20. but then again, if you put some dished rims and a phat bodykit on the 32, put an RB25 in it, some coilovers, and some nice seats and guages. you'd feel like it was a completly different car altogether and it would be awesome too. cheers Linton

HKS Cast iron low mount manifold, any good??
NZM.031 replied to NZM.031's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks guys. ive put a s/s manifold on a 180, turned blue, then purple, then gold, then brown and is starting to rust in the crevices, no dramas yet though, and its been almost a year.... the HKS is a much better design than the original, but does it sit the tubo in the same place? i may go external, but thats a long time away...my turbo of choice at the moment is a 2835 pro with internal gate. cheers Linton -
thats awesome.... have you removed all that tar like stuff stuck to the floorpan. if so, what did you use and how long did it take?? cheers Linton

Hoists - anyone got one or recommend good brands?
NZM.031 replied to stolly's topic in General Automotive Discussion
the molnar hoists i used were cheap and nasty bastards, weak as. the formulas are nice and solid. the arms are thick and big, but still low enough to get under really low cars. they are wide so you have ample door opening room. dont buy cheap hoists.....that simple. ive seen them drop, creep down over night, lock up one side when lowering, and lift one side up. cheerrs Linton -
Wanted: Pics of R33's with 400R front bars and back bonnets
NZM.031 replied to LBR33's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
i knocked that one up this morning. dont paint your bonnet...just wait and save up for a c/f one or a paint a f/b one black. there maybe a time when you need/want your standard bonnet, and you'll have to get it resprayed maroon, or find another bonnet. me and a mate painted our bonnets when we were younger, im no spray painter, it was ok, but by no means good, it looked ok from a distance. when it came time to sell the car though, i had to sell it with the black bonnet on it, coz i couldnt find another bonnet and couldnt afford to get it sprayed. you could tell straight away that it wasnt c/f, so people knew it was completly pointless except for looks. dont muck with your original stuff, its not smart. Nozila....how come you have a black wing then?? Cheers Linton -
well, if you like to hear it spool, you'll have to get a 2835 or bigger. aswell has a pod, get a nice dump pipe, with a screamer, and you may start to hear something, a cooler wont do anything, but a bov will add more wank factor.

hey guys, been looking at replacement exhaust manifolds for my RB25det. i keep seeing the HKS cast iron low mount manifolds for sale. are these bad boys any good?? must be as heavy as the stock one though, should i save up for a stainless manifold?? does anyone know of a good low mount setup that doesnt have any pipework for an external gate?? do they sit the turbo in the original location?? all the stainless ones i see have pipework coming out for an external wastgate, im want to keep it internal unless i go high mount. the manifolds are all really expensive too. any help would be appreciated cheers Linton
-
you want to make the turbo louder??? you mean so you can hear it spool up?? isnt that a bit wank?? all you can do is put a pod on it, you will hear it sucking like a mofo, and you'll also be able to hear the stock bov releasing. seems a bit strange to me, but anyway, each to their own.

when put the belt on did you rotate the engine and then recheck the belt. 1cm of play?? that sounds very excessive and very well could have skipped a tooth or number of teeth. was it idling when you put them in?? has it only happened when you revved it out? line the marks up and see what they look like cheers Linton

Hoists - anyone got one or recommend good brands?
NZM.031 replied to stolly's topic in General Automotive Discussion
we use Formula hoists at work....they arent too bad, clear floor, low arms (can get under my 33 with little dramas), back up service is pretty good. most repco places are distributors for them... i have used a few other hoists over the years, mostly molnar hoists....i dont rate molnar at all. you can see the arms bend with just a car on them, the safety is easy to leave off, and they make an annoying noise when going up with the safety on. look at paying over $5000 for a really decent hoist. cheers Linton -
I love both 180sx and skyline ...but which is better? ..
NZM.031 replied to shrome's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeh, depends on what you can handle. my mate has a modded 180, 244rwkw. my line has 220rwkw. the 180 is damn quick, breaks traction on boost, handles and goes like a rocket....but its loud and rattly, bounces over bumps at speed, really really light, steering feels a bit iffy due to the strut set up. but power is like an on/off switch, hits really hard. good engine to work on, lots of room in engine bay. very strong reliable motor. the 33, is more refined, a bit slower, but not by much, specially with stock turbs, smoother engine, smoother power delivery, its alot easier to cruise in. the interior is much nicer, more bearable. steering and handling is alot better due to the more advanced suspension and the extra weight stops it from bouncing all over the road. all depends on how much money you have and what you prefer the look of, you can always put an RB in the 180.. cheers Linton -
im planning on doing my RB25det up later in the year, i want it for reliability, not power, mainly for drift, but still able to drive around, its a weekend thrasher, not a daily driver. spends most of its time sitting on/near rev limiter, would N1 pumps be suited to this setup?? cheers Linton

series 2's came out in super clear red and marina blue....these are awesome colours. no light blues though. im pretty sure the champion blue was only on the r33 GTR LM edition. it was a real flat Royal Blue
