Family car what would you get and why?
NZM.031 replied to craz0's topic in General Automotive Discussion
id go the stagea, chaser, or tarago/odyssey, or one of the bigg VIP lexus sedans. depends on what ur after exactly. magnas and camrys not much bigger than 4dr skylines and the like. commodores and fords are, but the quality is pathetic. i owned a 2000 Liberty wagon, it was a great car, little lacking in the power though, it felt like the gbox was for a 2L not 2.5L. parts were a bit of a hassle and the gbox was very notchy, as they are. cheers Linton -
i just want to know things about the car...like any internal engine work, susp work, what size and type of tyres, how the owner feels about its drifting ability. anything. cheers Linton

hey guys, i was just wondering if anyone has any info or good pics of this car, it is the best 32 ive ever seen, and the way it drifts is unreal. [email protected] cheers Linton

Fresh from Japan pics
NZM.031 replied to Beer Baron's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
well, you could take it all off and get it polished up, or you could take it off and buy the equipment and do it yourself, or you could take it off and rub it back with wet and dry, goin down in grit, or you could do what i did and leave it on the car and sand it back and getting lookin really smick in the areas ppl see. it takes a while, but i think on an rb26 getting the paint off would be the real trick, then you have to get the casting marks out of it. took me a few days, im still not quite finished. cheers Linton -

hey guys, lots of nice looking GTRs, makes me even keener to get mine. OohArrGTR, ive seen you around newi, looks fat. u dont need to use heatproof paint on plenums and what not, i used it on my exhaust manifold and thats it, for everything else i use regular acrylic paint in a pressure pack can. cam covers, other bits, brake calipers, brake discs. but why not polish it up?? ive done my inlet manifold, looks sweet. -
yeh, cant say i am liking the wing, id take it off and put it aside for when/if you get a bigger bodykit. the rims are fine, so after the wang id add a fmic and 12psi. get rims when the rears are slicks. nice car champ, enjoy it. cheers Linton

my car hates optimax, dunno if its just the quality we get here or whats in it. it performs better on Vortex (95ron) then it does on optimax, but it loves BP ultimate, and its cheaper too. cheers Linton

replacement fuel pressure regulator, what should i get??
NZM.031 replied to NZM.031's topic in General Maintenance
yeh, its silver all over, but it doesnt seem to be working, it was working when i got it, then it played up, i disconnected the vacuum to it and the problem went away. i dont think i need an a/m reg. but i dont have the stocker, so i mayswell get something to replace it, the engine is fairly standard, massive bosch fuel pump and swirl pot in boot, with std injectors and ecu. cheers Linton -
hey mate, i had this problem with my modded atmo 31. when i got a 3" ehxaust put on it, felt like it lost heaps of torque. turned out it was just the difference in noise that led me to believe it had lost it, id say thats what urs is. cheers Linton

odyssey for sure, can beat honda technology, they look fat, and have all the mod cons as standard. the ford guys at tafe rubbish the territorys like they do the falcons, and from what ive seen, the quality isnt what it should be for the price, and all the little selling features arent really practical. cheers Linton
-
hey guys, my 33 had a malpassi pressure regulator on it which i just discovered isnt working properly, any ideas on what i should get to replace it?? ive heard sard ones are good, but dont see many ppl using aftermarket pressure reg's. i dont have the standard one so i cant put it back on. the car has an external bosch pump aswell as stock pump in the tank. cheers Linton

how much would u sell either coilover for?? im interested in both sets. cheers Linton

what colours is it?? -
hey mate, im interested in your fridge, where are you located?? need one for my garage. cheers Linton

i was looking at buying a DC2R before i got my line, i thought it would be a nice cruisy but quick car. glad i didnt buy one now. they are very light and bounce all over the road, they are noisy as, and its not good noise, the interior is fairly small, and the overall car is very small. fuel economy is not crash hot either, when uve got the boot in anyway. im very happy that i bought my 33, its nice and big, with a decent interior and great power, and also great fun to drive, being RWD and all. each to their own, just a few things i picked up from test driving them. cheers Linton

could be coilpacks. does it miss at all when up in the revs?? what about idle, does it idle a bit rough at times?? if you wind the boost down does it help?? if you get stuck, call hunter thomas automotive 49681362 and speak to paul thomas, he is the man. cheers Linton
-
it came to just under $3000, but that was for a full service, road tune, then the coilpacks played up, so there was some diagnostic time aswell as a set of Splitfires and then the dyno tune, i think the tune was $850. i installed all the hardware into the car myself, then he took it down to pt for tuning. 240rwkw, HKS GTRS, HKS 256/264 cams, Nismo 740cc Injectors, Z32 AFM, FMIC, Full Exhaust, Power FC. very good result. also run a 13.2 with loads of wheelspin through 1st, 2nd and most of 3rd as it is more a drift car. my cars yet to be taken there. cheers Linton

Hunter Thomas Automotive in Moate st Georgetown (just around the corner and up the road from pulse performance, how long has that been pulse for?? last time i went past there it was Impact Performance) ask for Paul Thomas, he is the man, he is a direct distributor of HKS and Apexi. he knows his stuff. a mate of mine just got his Power FC tuned for his 180sx, he dropped it off on monday, PT checked it over, road tuned it, then took it down to sydney for dyno tuning, he picked his car up from PT on Thursday. he doesnt advertise, only word of mouth. he has a standard looking maroon R32 GTR but my god, its crazy, he is also the nicest guy. give him a call 49681362 anyone who has been there speak up, i know noone has a bad thing to say about him. cheers Linton

hey all, on my 95 gtst (ser2 motor) should i be able to move the actuator rod by hand?? should it be plumbed into the vacuum (after throttle body) or pressure (before throttle body) side of the intake piping?? its got an aftermarket HKS pipe to the throttle body, dunno why its there. on 1bar it was going fine, then all of a sudden when i'd put my foot down it would make a crazy sucking noise, really loud. cant see/hear any vacuum leaks or boost leaks, but i cant get it on the dyno very easily to check under load. it pops and missfires on 1bar, so i wound it down and it started to do it again after a while, now its doing it on 7psi, if i stomp the throttle it goes ok, but if i lightly accelerate it feels like somethings holding it back. its boosting but not really accelerating. no its not clutch. its not free revving. i thought it might be coils. its missfiring a bit now, but it could also be a leak, im getting some replacment coils to check with, but im worried it wont be that simple. i have already replaced the plugs. cheers Linton

Rb 20/25 Manifold and Gran Turismo 4!
NZM.031 replied to Dnissan's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
could you send me pics please, to [email protected] cheers Linton -
MonstaS4, thats the way my old turbosmart type 1 worked, and same has my mates type 3s with the trumpets. they are just a spring pushing a piston against the boost pressure. cheers Linton
-
thats how it works with more expensive BOV's like the HKS super sequential. the boost pressure forces the valve shut. however with your cheaper ones like turbosmart and GFB they just have a piston and a spring inside a trick housing. the spring can handle so much boost and not compress but when the throttle is closed that pressure increases and compresses the spring and pushes the piston past the ports and releases the air. these cheap bovs can leak under idle and full boost if they cant handle the pressure. standard bovs can leak under boost aswell. it is worthwhile upgrading them, and also spending dollars on them, usually stock ones are better then most cheap a/m ones. hope that helps cheers Linton
