What are your favourite wheels?
NZM.031 replied to NXTIME's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i liked the Work rims to start with, but after having them on my car for a while now, im starting to dislike them. the design is good and the colour (gold with polished rim) its just that the spokes are really wide and dont go right to the edge of the rim. they are 18x9 and 18x10 and have mad dish, u just cant see much disc behind them and they look smaller than 18s. im going to get some Gram Lights 57 Pro's, they are made by Rays Engineering. if anyone out there is looking for some 18" Work rims, the same as the gold ones above, off R33 gtst, gimme a pm. cheers Linton -
my 33 does that too, on higher boost it does it worse and coughs and splutters, ive put it down to coils and am getting some 2nd hand ones this week, if that fixes it ill get some splitfires. it started after runnin 1bar for 3 days, so i wound it back to 12psi untill it started to do it again, im runnin 7psi now and its starting to do it again, so i think its coil packs breaking down. ive checked all the intercooler pipes and hoses, and vucuum lines, and also the turbine and compressor wheels. ill let you know how it goes cheers Linton

OK so who is the one who lost 2 a sportivo!!!
NZM.031 replied to MegaGTS4's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i work at a toyota dealership, i drive corollas every day, they are no sports car. they go well, and handle well, but they are nothing like my mildly modded 33, nothing at all, they are a nice little car though. definatly would have one as a daily driver. -
Slight problems with Bosch044 into GTR?
NZM.031 replied to MidnightGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
mine does the same sought of thing, it occasionally hunts on idle and often stalls, ive got an external pump fed by the original pump through a swirl pot. std injectors and computer for now (got it from japan not long ago, havent caught up with cashflow to get power fc) the wiring and install is spot on, own wires from battery through a relay. it also needs to be primed up sometimes. sometimes it wont start at all first go, let it prime and it starts fine, other times it goes first go. i havent really worried about it as i expected it to do it, aswell as chew through fuel under WOT. cheers Linton -
Thinking about buying a porsche
NZM.031 replied to Veilside R33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
forget about the 924, i own one, its sits in the shed under a cover....terrible car, poor handling and piss poor performance. the interior is squashy and outdated, the hatch area is terribly small, the motor is a shocker to work on and you will work on it, often. parts are hard to come by and expensive from new. good luck with it. cheers Linton -
hey guys, i have no brake lights at all, ive checked the fuse, its ok, checked the switch, its ok. there is no power coming into the switch. does anybody have a wiring diagram for a 1995 r33 gtst?? anybody had this problem b4?? is it as simple to fix as running a new wire from the battery to the switch or does it run through a relay or something else?? or is there another fuse?? also i have a large external fuel pump, after a long drive on a hot day it was making some crazy noises, normally the whine doesnt change but it kept going up and down and was noisier then quieter than normal, and it was also rather warm to touch. any help would be appreciated. cheers Linton

hey all, long time member, first time poster. i have a slight problem with my brake lights....they dont work! the tail lights work fine, ive checked the fuses and the globes. all fine. could it be the switch?? anyone else had a problem with this?? also, my large external fuel pump has been making a few weird noises... normally the whine doesnt change but it has been a bit all over the shop, occasionally stalling and idling roughly, but not all the time. it was a hot day and we had been driving for most of it, the pump was pretty warm to touch and so was the surge tank. any help would be appreciated. cheers Linton

Falken vs. Sumitomo
NZM.031 replied to Insomniac's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i had ze326 on my atmo R31, when i got a flat one day on the back, the spare had some nankang thing on it, the ze326 was that bad that when i tromped it the falken lost traction but the nankang wouldnt, and actually smashed the recenty rebuilt LSD, true story. dont get ZE326s cheers Linton -
What boost level do Champ Cars run?
NZM.031 replied to 08Elf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
inches of mercury and psi are almost the same. if i remember correctly, champ cars run around 44psi. cheers Linton -
yep....i painted the thing, jammed the brush down the fins (gently of course) as the paint was on that thick it was actually clogging up some of the passages. i did a few coats, front and back. dont let any get in there though. i also used meguiars all purpose cleaner and meguiars gold class instant wheel cleaner (an acidic based rim cleaner), do it in a open space but not where it will be visible if you make a mess. and also where some rubber gloves and possibly even a mask and safety glasses (the stripper can flick off when rinsed off with the hose, and the wheel cleaner is acidic and can burn) glad to help cheerio Linton

i stripped a GTR front mount that had been painted silver over the orginal black with a bit of motospray paint stripper, brushed it on, waited till it went flakey then scrapped it off washed it down with some all purpose cleaner and sprayed with aluminium acid, brought the core and tanks up really shiny, no polishing needed. hope that helps Linton

hey mate, uve got a pm cheers Linton

BEST R32/R34 GTR EVER (hard on attack)
NZM.031 replied to ALL GTR's topic in General Automotive Discussion

its all about torque....the 3L will always pull away from a 2.5L, with atmos its all about cubes. but the RB30 wont rev to 6500rpm like the RB25, which does it so easily. but the RB25 doesnt have the torque to pull the big 33 around as its designed for a turbo 2.5L and even though the cars way roughly the same, the RB30 is better suited to the 31 than the 25 to the 33. my R31 will get my brothers R33 GTS-t until he hits boost...then its all over. cheers Linton
-
yeh, i probably could turbo it....but then im in a different league, i have to compete with other turbos, with bigger or multiple turbos. i want a TOUGH atmo, not a mild one, a bulletproof, fully worked RB30DE, so when i drive away from some turboed cars, i can say its not turbo and thats how i wanted it. $7000 is including the other things, like gearbox, tailshaft and diff rebuilds aswell as brakes. would beefed up R31 brakes do the job?? or would i have to get the import struts and put R32 GTR brakes on??? cheers Linton
-
i am planning on building an RB30DE, with forged pistons, etc. etc. planning on about $7000 for the complete rebuild...do it properly the first time i say. i have an R31, so an atmo belongs in the engine bay, when it comes time to get an R32 gts-t, i can just swap engines over and put a HKS 3037 turbo kit on the side. cheers Linton
-
the reason that r34 does not look as fat is not because of the graphics....its because its an atmo!! i was watchin flyTV the other morning, and they had an interview with 'Brian' a quick glance under the bonnet of one of the Supras revealed an engine that was all polished up and everything, but...no turbo, intake pipe went straight to the throttle body. besides, do u think they would pay that much money for an R34 GT-R Vspec II, when they are gonna blow it up eventually and people wouldnt have a clue whether its a GTR anyway...even they are not that stupid. if u want flames, take out ur cat. leave the fake american stuff for the Lancers and Mirages... Skylines dont need any trickery. cheers Linton
-
do u guys realise that it is all fake, most of the cars are atmos anyway, a NOS shot out the front bar is really easy to replicate, flames in the exhaust is done via sparkplug igniting unburnt fuel. why would u want to go n put fake stuff on if u have a 33 anyway? look at the real cars in japan, runnin 9 sec passes on street tyres. they dont use NOS, the dont blow flames out the exhaust constantly...they are REAL cars, REAL skylines... cheers Linton
