great. thanks! the list of interested people and confirmed participants so far: * GoAhead (form sent) * niksta (form sent) * Normsta * RBJETT * SXY 33 * dark.sky * Cheddar * ozyk * JSTA33 * Sparkys (form sent) * Ripp3r Luke - could you please group PM a copy of the enrolment form / attachment to the people on the list above who haven't sent their form in? cheers.

I don't mind doing them, it's just that the amount of interest decreases as the 'pool' of novice drivers is depleted (because they go onto the High Performance courses and open trackdays) so it takes a lot more effort to get new people in together for subsequent courses. And after a while it starts to feel like i'm flogging a dead horse with the diminishing responses / interest. What you guys can do to help me is to sustain the interest by directing those people who would benefit from such a course to attend them when they're on as the opportunities for driver education are limited. thanks for your concern! cheers
-
then download the form attached above and let us know when you've sent it in so that Luke and i can add you to our list! SAU has preference for the first week, then JB Driving will open it up to the other clubs (Porsche Club of SA, FPV, WRX etc) so you'd better get in soon or risk missing out as places WILL fill up quickly. this is the only Advanced course that we're doing this year and it's very likely that I won't offer it ever again after this, so sorry but there probably won't be a later one!
-
it is indeed just a note for the subsequent High Performance course. their requirement is that people complete a Defensive Driving or Advanced Course before doing the HP course (I'll be running one in November). as you haven't done either of those courses yet, the June 21 course is the one for you!
-
The official enrolment form (pdf format) is available here: Car_Club_Intro_Performance_course_Info_and_Questions_2010.pdf Full payment to John Bowe Driving is due by May 31st for the trackday three weeks later (June 21) Please reply on this thread when you have sent your form + payment in so that Luke (heslo) and I can track numbers.
-
yes, because i haven't distributed the enrolment form to anyone yet! form will be sent out tonight with full payment required by May 31st for this course which will be conducted three weeks later (June 21).
-
holy crap. i go offline for a while and come back to learn that two cars that i love are gone :-( Conrad's zed was a beautiful car and Bengi's 31 was so cool to see out on the track.
-
yep, just got the official enrolment form from the guys at John Bowe Driving today. Luke and i will email/PM it out to those who have expressed interest in this thread.
-
were you with the Vodka O team? i was a guest of the Hallmarc team - they had a disappointing weekend with Michael Loccisano's 911 lunching its gearbox during the warmup for Friday's race (they had to install a replacement box from Porsche that day) and Marc Cini's new 997 Cup S got smashed into very expensive pieces after the Aston stalled in Saturday's short race. will try to post some shots of said 21 year old with skimpy outfit and hot friend...
-
thanks guys, it was good to have the opportunity to test it for the first time that day - sort of a maiden voyage i guess! i'll get a few more kms on the clock then sort out fuel + tuning for some decent power. i look forward to the next trackday when i can really drive it hard to knock a few more seconds off my 1:23.1 PB (old turbos, small brakes)
-
finally watched the video... thanks for the great footage of my non-Skyline. helps to confirm that some bodywork is rubbing against my tire at Turn 1 - you can hear it at 7:24 (Bit Sus got a bit loose behind me!) and see it at 8:21 on the vid. made me slow down before taking Turn 1 due to the sound it made inside the cabin when it bounced! will have a good look underneath this weekend - may not be able to use those rims for track work if the front offsets are too wide
-
a bit over exposed, but i'll try to merge the bracketed shots when i have more time:
-
one spot for me please
-
Krishy - as you did the Advanced course last year and were able to produce epic flames yesterday, you should plan to do the High Performance course that i will be putting on in November rather than do the Advanced course again.
-
if this is the first turbo FR car that you've had (a step up from FF econo-boxes) then this course is probably perfect for you. essentially it is a step up from the usual Defensive Driving (Level 1) courses that are offered at most tracks around Australia. with this Level 2A course there will be a mixture of slalom, corner (braking-entry-apex-exit techniques), and dry/wet braking exercises that will put your car through its paces. you will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the full circuit at the end of the event, but it won't be full on like yesterday's open trackday or the Level 2B High Performance Driving course that we ran last November - both those trackdays are very demanding on brakes and cooling systems. you won't be holding anyone up as there will be groups, and experience on motorcycles is quite useful.
-
lol, that works well too
-
Dave wonders if lion taming techniques will work for teaching R32 GTRs to do tricks like run up ramps...
-
i am organising the event and the instructors from John Bowe Driving Institute will be running it on the day. there are lots of spots at the moment. reply to this thread to get on the list that Heslo and i are compiling. you'll be able to secure your spot when Dean@JB and i get the enrolment form sorted out to be distributed.

hi guys, thanks for letting me test my "other car" out there today. with less than 100km on the new setup and tires (of which 60km was driving to the track) i got to warm everything up nicely and nothing broke (well nothing that i have found so far) for a series of 1'26 laps. after a neat 1'26.3 (with Group Four's R35 GTRs circling around me like hungry sharks) i called it an early day before anything went wrong (or i was tempted to test the limits). was a great bunch of people out there with a fantastic atmosphere (the club bbq was a great idea) and i look forward to the next SAU trackday! cheers - Kim

good news - i have enough interest to run the Advanced Driving course up at Mallala in June. i will also be able to retain last year's $385 pricing for this year however, the only change is that i have to shift the date from Tuesday June 22 to Monday June 21... this may not be a bad thing as i reckon people can make a long weekend of it. so please confirm or register your interest from here on: 0. Tangles? (i'll talk to you on Monday) 1. GoAhead 2. niksta 3. Normsta 4. RBJETT 5. gsr600guy? 6. SXY 33 7. dark.sky 8. Cheddar

Mallala Trackday 22/3 - Pictorial Goodness
V35-2005 replied to semislickR32's topic in South Australia
40psi is quite a bit and would have felt like tires were squirming but bummer about your tyre gauge! imho, the more you spend on suspension the better a result you'll have, but i'm sure that there are plenty of threads here about suspension choice... -
upgraded cooling won't be needed for this course (but is highly recommended for the HP Drive Day). your brakes will get a good workout on this day as the guys who attended last year will attest to! i think the differences between R32/R33/Brembo/non Brembo brakes became evident during one of the training exercises
-
this is still an EOI thread but we're hoping to get enough numbers to make running the Advanced Course viable. we're also trying to keep the price at last year's $385 whereas the HP drive day has indeed gone up to $425 for the 2010 calendar year. thanks for all the interest so far - keep registering your intent here! Luke and i will compile an initial list at the end of the week.
-
rain in Adelaide doesn't always affect Mallala so we should be ok. and "rain" in SA doesn't last for very long (10min?) - wait an hour and the track will be dry again
-
hi guys, I have booked Mallala out on Tuesday June 22 Monday June 21st for a trackday and need to know if there is enough interest here for another Advanced Driving Trackday course. It will be the same format as the event i organised last year (August 25) and similar to the FPV Drive Days run by the John Bowe Driving team several times a year. (photos from Page 16). Please reply here or PM me or Heslo in the next few week so that we can gauge the feasibility of such an event. This is a great opportunity to learn about car control and driving techniques on a circuit if you haven't been out at Mallala (or on a real racetrack) with your car before. If you want to learn more about being on the track before doing a High Performance Driving Course (the next one will be in November) but don't want to go all out (unrestricted) around Mallala then this is a good course to do first. I'm sure that Heslo, nightcrawler, writeoff, Joshdc, Moodles2, Hostile, typevu, and Krishy amongst those that participated last year will recommend this course to everyone here on SAU as an essential driving experience. If you did do the August trackday last year, then a High Performance Driving Course like the ones i ran last November and last month would be the next recommended step. semislickR32 and GUNR35 went to the recent March 22 trackday (photos here) Thanks for your interest. Confirmed -----------
