  1. were you running semi slicks? (i can't remember) as their start temp is a lot lower than street compounds (i start off 28-30psi cold with mine) re dampers - i had a similar problem with pogo'ing with my old (standard) suspension - the front/back weight transfer was all over the place and the car felt like it was lifting off on the wrong side. new coilovers fixed the problem easily. it's a never ending upgrade cycle!
  2. just about to board my flight to Melbourne for four days of F1 goodness it's better when you can hear the engines and smell the fuel
  3. i thought i heard your car locking up at the end of the straight (before Turn 3) a couple of times - wondered why that was happening with your big brakes?
  4. to all those who didn't make this event: you missed out on some awesome cars and a whole lot of fun! Andrew: i think the R32 GTR held its own against the awesomeness of the R35s and the Ferrari glad that you could make it in the end. perfect weather and a great turnout today. cheers - Kim
  5. just a selection from today:
  6. glad that you enjoyed the day! although i was only out there for a few hours today, i managed to get sunburnt - note to self: use supplied sunscreen next time. however, in my defence, i was distracted by all the nice cars around me so had no time to put sunscreen on... F430 and the pair of R35's got a lot of attention. to those who didn't go: you missed out on some awesome sights and sounds. - Kim
  7. looks like we're all set for Monday - have 22 cars on the list the pair of R35's and a pair of F430's out there will be the highlight for me i'll see all those from SAU who have enrolled for this event out there first thing Monday morning!
  8. you get what you pay for: in Sinergy's case, they do a full report, supply the required parts, take it to Regency, and sit around while the ID and other checks are done. they have a regular inspection slot at Regency so can have the inspection done quite quickly. if you do it yourself you may have a longer turnaround time, but that's up to you as you may want to save money in that area. hope that your mates can sort it out for you. it will probably take a while though.
  9. if you don't have the time, stock parts or inclination to do all the work yourself, take your car to a workshop that have the experience doing this stuff, can get your car to an acceptable (compliant) standard for Regency, and take it through for the ID check. Sinergy Motorsports inspected my WA registered car and took it through the ID check a few months ago. It was then registered in SA and issued with SA numberplates. I was then able to surrender my WA plates (to Transport SA / DTEI here) and got a refund from the WA transport authority for the balance of the WA rego and returning their plates. Sinergy will charge you for their time, effort and parts, but it is a far smoother process than doing it yourself. I don't that having an NSW RWC makes any difference.
  10. sorry to hear that you can't make it - did they transfer you to the next trackday? we'll be putting one on in November but may also do one in late June.
  11. so who's going over to Melbourne for the F1 this year? any recommendations re the best track locations? i sat at Turn 1 grandstands a few years ago and was underwhelmed by the "Gold Pass" experience.
  12. two weeks to go and the list has filled up quite quickly - i only have eight spots left and these will go soon. i have one F430 on the list now and another one pending please let me know asap if anyone wants to go as the list will soon be full. will be a great practice for the April 12 SAU trackday.
  13. thanks Andrew! here's the list so far: V35-2005 (me) R35 GTR R35 GTR semislickR32 (Andrew) Ferrari F430 (maybe) AE86 S15 IS200
  14. anyone here interested in going on this trackday? i'll need to confirm the SAU numbers with John Bowe Driving soon as this event is three weeks away.
  15. lot quite a local '35, but spotted a sexy matt black V35 coupe in downtown Auckland yesterday. matt finish paint with a bodykit (Kenstyle front?), all black wheels, and super black tinted tail lights - would that make it an NZ All Black V35? lol have seen a few V35's here in Auckland today, but noticed quite a few Libertys (Legacy) and Legnums driving around. anyway, as the locals say, "kia ora" from NZ!
  16. we'll have between 20-26 cars total on the day, but not all on the track at one time of course. no CAMS licence needed as this is an instructor led course. some insurance companies will cover you for this trackday as it is an instructor supervised event. this course can count towards achieving a CAMS licence if you're going in that direction.
  17. PM your email addresses to Luke or myself and we'll forward the enrollment form on to you cheers
  18. i support Luke on that. if Luke can vouch for you then you're in. however, do speak with some of the guys who did both the Advanced Driving and High Performance courses last year to see what they think of where you guys would be most confident. i have yet to work out a day for this year's Advanced course with John Bowe Driving but should have an answer when i see them next month. it will depend on numbers, so the more people that put their hands up here for such a course, the more confidence i will have about putting on such an event (not as easy to organise as the HP days).
  19. Luke and i have organised a John Bowe driving course for March 22 (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Mallala-Trackday-March-t308433.html) that would be a great prelude to this April trackday. If you want to brush up on your motorsport skills or would like a turn by turn breakdown of the circuit with input from professional driving instructors, then register here See you guys out there in April otherwise! btw, my full payment for this April trackday has been sent to the SAU account
  20. hi guys, Luke and i have teamed up again to bring you another High Performance driving course with the John Bowe Driving team. This will be exactly the same format as the one i ran last November (Nov 23 HP trackday) and is the step up from the Advanced Driving course that i organised in August (Advanced Driving trackday) We had a great turnout for both events last year and as far as i am aware, everyone had an awesome time out on the track with their cars. As this trackday is an instructor led course, it will be the perfect opportunity for those going out on the SAU club trackday in April (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Sausa-Track-Day-1-t303767.html) to brush up on your skills or to learn more about your car and the track if you've not been out at Mallala often. I'm sure that the SAU guys who have been on these JB trackdays with me before will attest that they are very useful. Those SAU members who attended the Advanced Driving course in August last year are eligible for this and future JB High Performance Driving Courses - if you missed out on following up from the Advanced Course (Krishy!) then here's your chance. Cost will be $425 for the day (sorry, prices have gone up for 2010) and you will need an AS/ADR/Snell approved helmet. fire extinguisher is optional. If you are new to the forum and haven't done a defensive driving course or some sort of high speed driver training course before, then you probably shouldn't enroll for this particular trackday. sorry, but this is a safety consideration. if you are interested in taking your car out to this trackday, have some track experience, or are confident at driving hard and won't endanger the rest of us by being a complete noob, then please contact me or Luke for further discussion. if you fancy yourself as the next F1 driver, then i'm sure that McLaren will be looking to sign you up for their 2010 season - you'd better go back to waiting for that phone call... This will be a Level 2 instructor led course which means that you have the opportunity to have a qualified instructor (who is often a professional race car driver) assess your driving ability / technique and teach you new skills (or modify your bad habits). Website here: John Bowe Institute of Driving. This is also your chance to drive your car around a race track as fast as you possibly (safely) can. Pricing for the general public is normally $465 per person but pricing for our group will be $425 per person. Please note that JBID normally requires participants to have done a minimum of an L1 course such as a Drive to Live / Drive to Survive day or their L2A Advanced Driving Course prior to doing their L2B High Performance courses. If you haven't done an Advanced Driving Course or High Performance Day with John Bowe Driving or equivalent training companies before, then you may not be eligible for this trackday as we won't know you or what your level of experience is. If you have done a Level 1 defensive driving course before, have been out at Mallala several times, or are experienced in "spirited driving" through the Hills and are confident of your ability to participate in this day, then have a chat with Luke (heslo) and me first. Sorry, but this is a safety issue - so no test pilots please. However, with the success of the August 2009 event, I am likely to run another Advanced Driving Course sometime this year which will then allow new drivers to step up to the full High Performance days or other track events in 2010. The numbers for March are limited this time, so please reply in this thread if you are interested. Let me or Luke (heslo) know so that we can email you the official enrollment form and add you to the list. As this event is five weeks away, you'll need to fill out the form and send in your full payment to John Bowe Driving otherwise you'll not secure a spot. - no deposits this time as the list will fill up fast - $425 full payment is due directly to Dean at John Bowe Driving now - the track day is on a Monday so you had better organise your holidays/leave/sick day now! - you will need a helmet Summary: ------ * 16 places available * cost = $425 for whole day (0830-1630) of instructor led training * theory session, track walk through, practice laps, then training * includes morning tea + catered lunch * lots of bottled water / softdrinks to rehydrate also provided throughout day * instructor led (ratio 1:4 instructor:drivers) * relatively safe unless you're really stupid * no insurance cover for damaging your car (unless you're with Shannons Insurance) * there will be an ambulance crew there (just in case) * you will need to bring your own (approved) helmet * metal valve caps for tire valves are required * fire extinguisher fitment is optional * this is not an open practice day * sorry, no spectators (due to public liability insurance) * no passengers other than the instructors (it is not an approved "ride" day) * a CAMS licence is NOT required. * this is a private supervised circuit day with strict and specific rules. * it is not a race session, nor is it a drift day. * overtaking on corners or under brakes is not allowed. * definitely no contact with another car's bodywork! * everyone has the opportunity to go at their own pace ** please note that this is not a race or drift day. it is not a club Supersprint event or Time Attack day ** see FAQ post in previous threads. Confirmed ----------- semislickR32 Andz
  21. in fairness, i was in the stealthy daily driver (grey Subaru wagon) but i did wave will keep you in the loop for upcoming trackday courses. cheers
  22. hi Wayne, the next John Bowe driving course at Mallala will be on Monday March 22 but the format will be the same as the High Performance Drive Day that i ran in November. at this stage, i can't confirm if we will be running the Advanced Driving Course again this year, but i am hoping to have it at 'Lala again in August. btw, that was me waving at you from my daily at the Woodville train crossing yesterday arvo cheers - Kim
  23. unfortunately in this case, my V35 is a 2005 build (hence the username) but does have the pop up screen with the DVDrom in the top glove box. i concluded that buying a $500 portable nav was a more cost effective solution as i can transfer it between my cars (including work vehicles) when needed. so when are we having an SA V35/M35 meet? perhaps Nightcrawler can do a roll call
  24. i haven't read the thread for a while, but i presume that it is still only for Series 1 V35 owners?
