  1. the amount of enthusiasm that i have seen on this site for a trackday is quite amusing as i have spent YEARS trying to drum up interest on the Supra forum for a club trackday and have only gotten less than eight people signed up each year. this is a compliment - well done on filling the spots so quickly. i'm sure that this test bodes well for more SAU trackdays
  2. i'm in. not sure what car yet, but i'll be there. can someone update my status to SA Club Member since i am one?
  3. i might be in Tassie (Hobart) for a work visit later this year so may well say g'day if you're around. ideally i'd like to make it a holiday too and drive the V35 over on the boat.
  4. doh. i was offline today and missed this. had to go to a birthday party tonight anyway so wouldn't have been able to make it for the meet. the drive to Bateman's Bay via the Great Ocean Road will be awesome! i planned to do this several years ago but had to cancel at the last minute due to illness and never had the chance to do it since. i'm envious! hope that you have a safe and enjoyable journey.
  5. how long are you here for? perhaps we should do an SAU V35/V36 meet sometime this week?
  6. dark grey R32 with a front mount and Victorian plates (WFE***) being a tool on Henley Beach Road yesterday ~2pm. boosted and nearly took out a poor cyclist at one point, then sat on my tail for a while. boosted it again just to get around me in traffic one position near Thebarton Theatre - just to get one car ahead? nice one, you dick. that was just plain rude to cut me off like that. And it really improves the public's perception of '32 drivers and import owners in general.
  7. saw a light blue V35 coupe up with VGT*** plates at Windy Point yesterday evening 7pm and again this morning at the top of Montefiore Hill was that you?
  8. afaik they are street legal providing the stuff Luke mentioned above is done. a good example is the Clubsport pack for 911 GT2/GT3 with the street legal half cage. car should be registered as a two seater with no rear belts or points. i am going through the process so can let you know the outcome next month.
  9. PVP Imports are more readily known as Sinergy Motorsports these days although the name PVP Imports is still used in the office still wanted: a single R34 GTR rim (18x9+30) in medium-good condition. gutter rash and scars are fine. i don't need the centre cap. please PM me if you have one. thanks!

  13. here are my photos from the day: i only managed a best of 1'23.9 in the Supra (PB = 1'23.1) and struggled with massive underbonnet temps (140'C after four laps) despite extra cooling mods (oil cooler, new radiator, extra thermo fan, more ducting) and new Brembo brakes. in hindsight, the rapid increase in temp and higher than normal boost levels recorded (1.5bar compared to the usual 1.2bar on track) with no improvement in speed or laptimes, were the early signs of my impending turbo failure - unfortunately this occurred on Tuesday morning when i went out again with the intention of breaking 1'22. interestingly, Trent (one of the instructors) only got 1'24.19 on a clear track when everyone went to lunch - he drove beautifully and it sounded like he was pushing hard, but analysis of that session reveals that my stock twins were already failing as we should have gone a lot faster. late braking and high corner speeds were let down by the lack of power on exit. the fastest cars on the day that i know of were the R35 (a comfortable 1'22.08 - not bad for a four month old car after its first service!), the blue Evo IX (1'22.9 on street tires) and the black TT Supra (Dave with a stonking 1'23.13 on street tires). it's great to see that two Supras with stock turbos can put down some good 1'23 laptimes! for the record, the stock R35 is good for 1'18 as Trent the instructor drove that laptime in it the next day. for all those who couldn't attend - you missed out on an awesome event. the good news is that i will be running another trackday like this in March next year, so start planning now!
  14. Bengi - a 1'29.3 is an awesome lap time in the Starlet! that's comparable with some of the S15's i have seen out at Mallala in the past and as fast as most NA Supras. glad to hear that you had lots of fun and i look forward to seeing you out there next time!
  15. out of curiosity, can you guys list your starting and best timed laps here? i had a beer with one of the instructors (Dean) last night and he said that the best feedback for the instructors is to see how much people improve over the day. for example, my starting time with the V35 at the private trackday last month was 1'40.9 and i got a series of 1'34s (timed by Glenn and Jugz) with a best of 1'34.5 for the day.
  16. i'll see you guys at City Dismantlers tomorrow as GUNR35 is coming past my place first and going to Vili's is in the opposite direction. weather forecast looks to be good so here's to a great day! cheers - Kim
  17. just your driver's licence
  18. Heslo has suggested breakfast / coffee from 6am at Vili's and then meet at City Dismantlers at 7am for a 730am departure. see you all at either meet point or up at Mallala. the drivers' briefing is from 0830am at the paddock - everyone will need to be there at the time for course registration. helmet + fuel + tire pressures + metal valve caps + tighten all wheel nuts = all set!
  19. i dunno why they're charging the John Bowe Driving guys $110 a shed then! that's a bit much given your info on this Adrian. and that was their cost on to me. i will investigate more over the weekend but won't really have an answer till we get there on Monday. my advice = don't bring unnecessary shit on the day. it's not like you'll be rebuilding your car throughout the day. you should be able to turn up, have a great day on the track, and then drive home without having to wrestle with stuff during the event. random mechanical failures and accidents should be the exceptions to the day. the purpose of having the extra garages was for extra storage, shelter from the elements, and those "just in case" scenarios. if we can't get the additional space, then i'm sure that we can cope.
  20. i'm not entirely sure - that's what John Bowe Driving have quoted me for one garage. i think that it may be a triple bay garage for $110 as you can't exactly close off the other two bays if you have one roller door up. i understand that the package that Clem did for Adrian's private trackday included the garages. i don't know what Adrian was charging the guys on the October day for the use of the garages - can anyone confirm that? either way, we've got at least half a dozen people on the list now, so $10pp takes the load off me and Luke. thanks guys!
  21. who needs access to a garage at Mallala on the day? "just in case" please note that the John Bowe Driving team will be using Garages 20/21 for the drivers briefing, theory lectures and the catered lunch - we usually store small bits and pieces in the limited space there during the day, but if you're bringing spare tires, trolley jacks, ramps, etc then putting those in a separate garage would be better for everyone. Heslo and i will be splitting a garage between us ($110 total for one garage - yes, it's expensive - i know) but the more people who chip in, the cheaper it is for those who need to use it to store their stuff. it will be a separate cost from your course fee. $10 per person will make this plan viable. those who used a garage during the October private trackday will appreciate the benefit of having the space (and the shade from the elements - sun/wind/rain) reply here.
  22. the defensive driving courses usually use a limited section of the straight for dry/wet emergency braking exercises (100kph to zero) and a curved section of the old circuit for the braking around corners exercise. who knows what's happening with AIR - Bob Jane was on TV a few weeks ago making promises about reopening the facility. i'll only believe it when the gates are open for the drags again...
  23. which Wednesday event are you booked for? John Bowe Driving are running both a Level 1 Drive to Survive course at AIR and an FPV Drive Day at Mallala on Wednesday November 25. Craig is right - there are two spots left for the Monday trackday as the maximum is 24 cars. if you have prior track experience then you could pay the L1/L2 difference (about $150 i think) and upgrade to the Monday event. ideally you should do a L1 course followed by the L2A Advanced Driving course (like the one i organised in August) and then go on this L2B High Performance drive day.
  24. this is the final list that has now been locked in: 1. writeoff (R32 GTR) 2. Joshdc (R33 GTR) 3. Moodles2 (R32 GTR) 4. 32godzilla (260RS Stagea) 5. Mark (32godzilla's +1) 6. Red Back (R33 GTR) 7. heslo (R33 GTR) 8. Bengi (Starlet) 9. Nightcrawler (V35 Coupe) 10. Luke_ENR34 (R34 GT4) 11. Glenn (heslo +1) MX5 12. Jugs (heslo +2) R33 13. V35-2005 (Supra JZA80 TT) 14. GUNR35 (R35 GTR) 15. JTmiller (Lexus IS200) 16. Dark Knight (Supra JZA80 NA) 17. Mercury (Supra JZA80 NA) 18. Damo (Supra JZA80 V8 SC) 19. ma61turbo (Supra JZA80 TT) 20. cyberdiamond (Supra JZA80 NA) 21. Reaper 22. John (MarveyTech S13) this looks to be a great turnout with over half the group from the Aug 25 trackday signing up for this trackday. well done! it's good to know that there are people here who want to learn more about driving properly on a proper racetrack - thanks for your enthusiasm guys and see you all in seven days time!
  25. don't knock the hammer (lol) as Dave used one on his S14 at the last trackday... oh hang on, that's probably a glass breakage hammer
