i'm taking my MyChron lap timer so people are welcome to use the IR beacon that i'll set up on pit straight if they have the matching receiver in their car. i may have a spare MyChron Light timing set with me on the day - it's for sale currently on behalf of a friend ($350 i think).
-
i guess we also need to be clear as to what type of day this will be - a practice day as opposed to 'setting the world on fire time attack record breaking day' ? i'm just there to get some practice and sort out some suspension settings...
-
perhaps we should nominate time brackets where people think they will be circulating in to help decide groupings - i presume that Dstroy would be in the 1'20-1'22 bracket?
-
how will people know how fast or slow they are in relation to others? i'm assuming that i'm still on the list for this. how do we organise a garage for the day? i am planning to bring up a support car, some fold up chairs, my fuel can, trolley jack, stands, and an esky. i'll be happy to pay $10-20 for access to a garage / share.
-
that reminds me - i'll chat to you about those on Monday!
-
Supercheap, Repco, Autobarn, etc - i'd recommend the black Fuel Safe 20L ones over the red Willow branded ones as we've seen several red ones leak fuel (all over the interior of a couple of cars) when stored at a slight angle.
-
nah, i'd say an hour or so to get up there at that time of the morning, so leave Vilis at 7am at the latest. 20min from there to Grand Junction up South Road should be ok (+/- the Croydon train crossing)
-
Mallala takes about 40min from the Gepps Cross intersection, but a lot of time will be taken up with the traffic on South Road from Vilis to Grand Junction Rd.
-
hi Josh, glad that i could help with the recommendation. all the best with the new clutch! cheers - Kim
-
hi guys, this trackday is less than five weeks away (November 23) so please let me know if you have paid and received your receipt/invoice but aren't on the list below. if you don't have the official enrolment form, please let me know asap and i will email it to you. our group discount remains at $385 (regular pricing for this sort of event is $425). i need to sort this out by the end of this week, so i hope to hear from you all soon. cheers - Kim 1. writeoff 2. i'm not sure yet as i've been distracted with other things. not all of us Admins are aware of the extent of the problem but i suspect a server hdd failure. i think that we'll need to have an Admin meeting to get up to date with the catastrophe
-
not sure at the moment as SAsupra.com went down on the weekend and lost 12 months worth of data & user accounts with no viable backup i'll have to contact everyone from that site individually if their usernames still exist and they can access their PMs! might take a while to confirm but i think i had six paid up from that side. either way, we have quite a few empty spots at present. i'll go thru the list of people who attended the Advanced Driving event and give them a reminder.
-
i'll make my first appearance there tonight. catching up with Heslo there from 630pm. looking forward to meeting you guys
-
my attendance is dependent on my getting new brakes and suspension sorted out but i will only know in a couple of weeks. i'll keep you posted as originally promised.
-

flinging your car around a track will certainly highlight setup issues (understeer, oversteer, etc) they can't specifically tell you what spring rates to change to, but can provide comment as to their take on your car's handling - eg. the back end is unstable, too much understeer, turn-in could be improved, brakes fade too soon, etc and that's the benefit of the day - learning stuff about your car in a (relatively) controlled environment so that you can make adjustments to it and improve your driving
-
actually they do teach you track specific stuff which can easily be translated to street and Hills driving. this is achieved by looking and critiquing your driving style/habits and hopefully getting you to change for the better (if improvement is needed). you will get laps timed throughout the day to track your improvement, not for podium spots. there is no official Natsoft timing during the day. the expense covers 6-8 professional instructors (several will be flying in from Melbourne) and the catering for the day (morning tea, sandwiches, hot lunch, cold drinks/ bottled water) - certainly a lot more than a $200 private day can offer imho.
-
nine weeks to go, boys and girls - who has put their form in and received a confirmation email?
-
full amount paid - should clear into your account by Tuesday morning. thanks! if my car isn't ready for this trackday, then someone else can take (ie. buy) my place - AdrianA has first dibs i think
-
PM sent.
-
if he's had experience racing in rally events then he probably knows quite a bit about oversteer and understeer he should be able to grasp the concept of entry-apex-exit during our little track excursion then... so sign him up! but in all seriousness, the team will be taking the last section from the Advanced Course (the full laps of the circuit) and winding it up several notches for the whole day with this course. the reason why we're asking for people who have been out on the track before / have track experience is so that we can go beyond the basics and safety drills to focus more on how to go fast properly (and safely) so it will be great fun for everyone to stretch their legs out there so to speak.
-
the list so far: 1. writeoff 2. joshdc 3. scandyflick 4. heslo who else has sent their form in + payment?
-
200kph at the kink and then some more before the hairpin would be impressive north / south left / right - i can never remember!
-
i'm rebuilding my car for the Nov 23 trackday and am also hoping to have it ready for this event, but if i can't go then you or your mate can take my spot. i will be forwarding my deposit to Rad32 soon.
