The frustration is real small slow developments on the car and small slow developments in driving skill I have knocked a few tenths off my PB but still just in the 63's on long track at barbagallo an important factor looking at the positives is a lot more of my laps are closer to being near the quickest I can run so there is consistency improving a lot I am still experiencing massive understeer so the car is not close to optimal yet. The diff which is a kazz 2 way hasn't been touched other than an oil change here and there for 5 years .. so 1) to make sure its OK and 2) under advisement from other circuit guys I have given my diff to the local diff guru who has checked it and its mint condition but more importantly he is doing XYZ to it to wind it back to basically make it a 1.5 way where he said it should stop some of the push im getting mid corner and should help to some degree with some of the understeer problems I have in his experience and opinion The uni joint in my tailshaft was shot full squeaking spec and dying fast, there was also a dent in one of the two pieces. So its also getting a new tailshaft built from scratch rather than just rehashing an old one again I have been waiting on my carbon lip etc for a long time... finally it got delivered in early December. Alas the awesome courier decided to throw my delivery, which had fragile written all over it, onto my second story balcony. WTF ! When I opened it ... cracked ! arrgghhhhhh so going through the process (insurance) of getting new stuff. So frustrating In the mean time I need to try other stuff to address this understeer issue and have to balance out the big rear wing I have on the car which has to be a contributing factor. So I am using the albeit cracked carbon lip and working on the ally composite V2 splitter which is well under way and I hope will, in combination with other changes, improve the balance of the car through corners. So this is where we sit at the moment... hopefully some good results to come as Im out in mid Feb next

totally agree not be all and end all for sure... I do tuning days and all that for me right now I want to get times.... Its just what I want to do. And Id rather rather get 35+ laps timed in 4 hours on a Thurs night than at a speed event approx. 25 laps that literally takes all day bang for your buck couldn't beat it for the average punter

+ 1 to all of this is not good at any level From people with a normal street car that wants to punt it around a track safely, a guy I was talking to spent 3 years and all of his hard earned $ just finished his s13 silvia and was his first event out last month to me who uses it as both my monthly 'night out' and good track time where there is timing and use it as my 'time attack' development I don't know if it will help or not but I have put my hand up to the people that run it to help in anyway I can including extra $ to increase the potential for them to keep the events alive !

You door to door guys are stepping up your game! Y'all not helping with my want for a sequential box!

I see your in Perth Depends on your 'can be bothered' factor' but for mine I made my own templates out of cardboard and bought a big sheet of 2mm ally and rang around welshpool (Im s.o.r) to see who and how much it would be to lazer cut it. To be honest so much was going on with the build at the time I cant remember who I went to but it was about $100 cash to do it Being R32 GTR I assume does Galvsport have a template or similar as they do so much top level GTR stuff ?

so bloody awesome ! looks fun good driving too

Still working on this bit by bit Went out to a tuning day two weeks ago on old tyres just to get some seat time, try a few things and difference setups with the spring rates. First real track time in ages as raining keeps hampering everything I turn up to at the moment. Did around 50 - 60 laps and just tried as much as I could Last night ran a No limits timed night - once again rain came but got about 10 hot laps in with dry and warming track. Made good improvements to balance of the car, trying to trail break into the corner to help kill the understeer. All in all starting to feel sorted but lots to go. still haven't got my carbon front end but no doubt with WTAC over now it will come soon PB on the night = 63.1 with more in both the car and driver - 62.5 is the aim so getting there Car is weighing in at 1244 with 50L of fuel - so Id say for a 5 lap dash will need 10L so weighing about 1205 / 1210 if I wanted to get skinny on the fuel side After 3 years of drifting and 1 year of circuit the mighty stock rb25 gearbox has fallen..... 4th and 5th gear are not happy at all - I can handle that for a $1K replacement part really

RB25 Drift Build Question's / Advice.
bcozican replied to elleskyline's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
its like anything, you set your power goals and go from there.... also what tracks youre going to run and diff ratio but in essence that turbo will be too big for most drifting - gtx3076 with 0.82 rear housing is what I used all through my drifting and is the most common used over here for people wanting between 450hp to 500hp on 16psi - 20 psi respectively ...full boost about 3800 - 4K depending on a few things + tune etc think about your long term goals ie: will you want more in the future I think the gtx3071 (or similar size) with 0.82 on 20psi which should give you about 475rwhp and better response if you are 1) new to drifting 2) have smaller tighter tracks 3) not competing at ADGP level I had rear head drain in one of my engines, didn't do anything for me... but I ran my breathers out of the rocker covers to my catch can and that drained back to the sump... that is a saver for sure (also many opinions on this) All things come down to money etc but yes if you have the coin ..... pu tan oil cooler in and also a power steering cooler- 4 replies

Been a while Ive had some time off not being at the track as it was that time when everything was wearing out and $$ were need for upgrades, replacement and general servicing So out again in about 2 weeks to start getting back into it so everything is in motion and nearly ready to roll New clutch in ... single plate from NPC For the front brakes ....new Project Mu SCR Pro two piece rotors on and going to try H16 - 03 pads / rears are Ok and will stay the same Fluid change for gearbox and diff = Motul As I wasn't fully happy with the way the car handled through the corners with understeer so Ive got new spring rates front and rear from MCA to try - same as others on here have had some success with so they are in and will hopefully give more feedback and less understeer mid corner With the guard chopping the tyre, we cut about 10 -15mm more out of the guard and that's really all I have as its up to the rear door sill now. Folded the inner lining under and welded it so have about 15mm of flat all the way around under the guard now so even if it does touch it wont chop. With new heavier spring rate and more room it shouldn't anyway Also, I know not great shots, but finally have the new Ce28rt Blacks on with new Yoko 050's - mediums 265 front and 295 rear For the first outing in 2 weeks I will not be running the splitter, have the topstage carbon r32 front lip for the GTR front bar coming that Im going to attach to the ally composite undertray/ splitter as I wasn't really happy with the airdam Id made on version 1

R32 GTR - Aftermarket Radiators and Factory Shorud
bcozican replied to WantGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sometimes that chopping etc of the shroud/ rad from the fan comes from worn / broken engine mounts when the car brakes etc the engine can move forward hence closing the gap / changing the alignment of everything... been there ! -
Extended LCA'S supporting mods
bcozican replied to dan.rfb's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
so you going to cut and weld metal in between the arm somewhere to extend it if I read that right ? or you going to buy proper adjustable LCA's? Just letting you know s14/ r33 LCA's are longer than R32 by 10 - 15mm (cant remember) if that's enough and easier for you. If you are going to cut and weld, you'll need to box out (brace) the underneath of the arm with a couple of bits of sheet metal welded across it to give it some support Either way... with you moving everything out further you will need camber arms, tie rods etc etc to match the length ...so longer ones which ill no doubt have to be adjustable ones also depending on your rim / tyre combo it may now scrub front bar or rear of tub as it carrys a new arch -
R33 Gtst Track Car - The "f**k Bitches, Get Money" Build
bcozican replied to R31 drift pig's topic in Motorsport Builds
don't know if ive got a handle on it but am giving it a go haha lots of different theories etc out there but like anything the basics remain the same. Aero totally changes a car an the way you drive it from my experience Make sure the car drives good and handles well without it, then if adding aero add with balance and adjust the car from there. I went with cheaper version of front splitter etc to trial and error and in case of mistakes at first rather than go all out (im currently making V2) but as you've seen gone pretty speno on the rear cause I doubt I'll smash that. A lot of people use the marine ply for the front splitter, I used ally composite (ally honeycombe middle and 0.5 ally each side) Best thing is now just drive the car and enjoy it !! nothing better than getting in the seat and driving on the track and finding out what the car you've built can do, and also cant do... then adjust from there -
R33 Gtst Track Car - The "f**k Bitches, Get Money" Build
bcozican replied to R31 drift pig's topic in Motorsport Builds
well done man ... always good to get to the light at the end of the tunnel -
major understeer I would say as it would push you through the corner with not enough grip in the front to take the lateral load you will need to balance it out to get you around the corner properly
-
thanks yeop I agree will follow what he says etc yours looks very smooth / quick through the corners !
-
can I ask what spring rates you have gone too ?? Im just going from 11F 5R to 14 F and 6R as I had / have massive understeer all the time

Spherical Bearings In Knuckles
bcozican replied to bcozican's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks yeop might investigate the ability to get the sphericals into the rear and give it a go - wouldn't think they last too long but you never know until its tried I spose yeah GTR knuckles require changing to forked bottom mount on new MCA coils ...hmmmm might end up being too much coin and messing around .. the appeal of reducing unsprung weight for 4 kgs is high though -
Spherical Bearings In Knuckles
bcozican replied to bcozican's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sorry I should have elaborate a bit more This is for track only, I have all adj arms yes and its for the rear knuckles I was referring to the bushes in the knuckle being replaced, as per pic. So basically it would reduce the slack / give on the knuckle side of the arm just reducing another lot of movement in the suspension setup Can see the S13/ 14 and GTR kits here I will have to have a measure etc to see if the s13 kits are the size size as what in the std r32 gtst rear knuckle For some reason my computer is being full tard so I cant copy the link in but www.splparts.com has them -
Been recently reading on replacement of rubber bushes in knuckles with spherical Obviously benefits being less movement etc etc ..insert technical term here... Has anyone done this with any feedback ? if so any info on kits and where to get etc Im running r32 gtst with std knuckles / uprights I can only see stuff for z32 / gtr rear knuckles / uprights on SPL website bonus question Ive talked to a few guys with s13/14 racecars that have replaced rear knuckles with GTR uprights - 2kg less sprung weight a side + added sphericals - obviously a lot of messing around but has anyone gone to this level ? just interested

Possibility For Aerodynamic Section?
bcozican replied to rcs_888's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
yeop same spot i'll be making a rear diffuser and thinking about going flat floor etc but how, how high, whether flat floor without side skirts linked to it is worth it or have to go full enclosed, materials used and weight of that material vs cost etc are all relevant and good for discussion Im prob using ally honeycombe core composite for above 1.5kg / m2 so light and strong maybe start a thread in Motorsport section and go from there ???
